I’ve been curious about the wine & design type places for a while and finally attended an event the other day. We didn’t do a traditional painting where we would follow along with an artist and everyone paints the same picture, so I can’t speak to that kind of experience here. We did have an artist on hand to give a few brief examples on how to use the brushes and to answer questions as we each did our own pieces. Overall, the artist was friendly and helpful without being intrusive or judgmental. This is definitely a creative spot to go with a group of friends for a fun couple of hours. It’s great to be able to go out and *do* something opposed to just going out to eat somewhere. I like this trend from places like this, and this spot definitely caters to fun social group events. It’s not in the nicest of buildings, and some of the utilities are kind of… uh…outdated. But, they do it with a sense of humor here. The restroom has a golden throne with a Golden Girls theme to it. Parking isn’t ample here either. But, carpool and that should help! Overall, I’d return to this spot if invited to another event. I’d probably look into some other locations if I were planning my own event just because of the outdated feel of this spot.

This was my second time at W and D,(now at new location) and this time I was really disappointed. The two experiences were SODIFFERENT. This time it was unorganized, the instructor was unfocused, hard to follow, & all we saw was her back(not the canvas) when she painted. She seemed more focused on drinking her wine! She also kept walking around and showing us a little picture we were to copy! Last year at the old location it was much more professional and well managed.

Mom and daughter night at wine and design was awesome! We walked in, signed in, grabbed our smocks, chose a seat and cracked open our beverages and waiting for class to begin! The teacher was well spirited, and so was the crowd. They played awesome«old school» music and everyone sang along! The instructors were very very helpful and didn’t ZOOM through the«steps». “No mistakes, just HAPPYACCIDENTS”. They explained for first timers the drinking bell, and where we could put our snacks, food, and beverages. Only complaint… apparently they moved locations from Bicket Blvd. to West st. downtown, they even had it on their emailed receipt. So, when we showed up and the place was empty, we tried to call. I probably had to call 4 times before someone answered the phone. I suggest that everything is followed through, so patrons aren’t confused. ENJOY!!!

We were very disappointed with this much talked about experience. When we arrived there was no one to greet us. Everyone just stood around staring at each other. There were two separate parties starting at 6:30 but they seated us all together(previously I was told both painting would be in separate rooms). When making reservations not sure why they asked our parties name to be seated together because we picked our own seats. They were not ready for us at our scheduled time. They didn’t even have enough canvases. For a 6:30 party we didn’t start painting until 7:15. We had very little direction. The artist apologized but we were surprised by the lack of organization. We left early(at 9:00 even though the party was only scheduled until 8:30) while everyone else was still painting because we had dinner reservations. This experience was over-priced. We could have looked at a picture, drank wine and painted at home. For a great experience avoid Raleigh and visit their Cary location instead.
