Awesome handcrafted, small batch wines. Loved 2013 Petite Sarah and the small batch Sangiovese!

We had a great Sunday supper with Elaine and Tammy at the winery… good pairing of wine and food in an eclectic setting with old and new friends! Check it out! Ramona Valley wines are worth checking out!

I came here with my mom for my very first wine tasting. I’m more of a sweet wine/dessert wine type, but Paul was super nice and explained all of the selections in detail for our whole tasting. Elaine, the owner, came and introduced herself between going out to the vineyard to work. Everyone was great and friendly, and I really enjoyed the experience. I’m even contemplating getting a membership. :)

Fun place with nice atmosphere and people. Enjoyed the award-winning wines! The Zinfandel is especially lovely, as is the dessert wine. Ask for Tammy!

I first stumbled upon this place about a year ago when I had friends in town. I’ve given them the typical San Diego tour several times before and thought it would be fun to try something new. So off we went to Ramona for some wine tasting. I had never been to Ramona before and was completely unaware of the winery scene there. I simply knew it was known for wineries and figured I would just pull off the road at one that looked inviting. Hatfield Creek had great signage and that’s exactly how and why we ended up there. All the other wineries gave the notice too late and I passed them by before being able to turn in. But Hatfield Creek gave ample notice! Went inside not knowing what to expect and I was totally thrilled with what I found. The ambiance is relaxing, open, and laid back. I loved it! Then I tasted the wines and loved every single one I tried. I went home with a few bottles and came back another few times with different friends and family. Eventually I became a member and I love my membership there! There’s no fee for it and the quarterly shipments are the perfect size. I’ve tried going to another couple wineries in Ramona and so far none stand out to me like Hatfield Creek does. All the«winetenders» there have always been fabulous. They are very friendly and talkative, but not overly chatty — it’s truly that perfect balance of what you look for! And, they are very good at educating you on wine in general and the Ramona wine scene specifically. Most recently I was able to go this past Friday on my way to Julian for dinner and a weekend getaway in Anza Borrego. I wish every weekend was like that! Oh, and I took a bottle of the BonBon dessert wine with me on the way — it’s fabulously delicious! Be sure to check out this winery!

Elaine was super informative about the history of their winery. The cat Meer was a very cute welcoming part of our visit! Wine is fabulous! Great winery!

Fantastic afternoon wine tasting at Hatfield Creek! All seven wines we tasted were wonderful, definitely would come back to taste again. Winemaker Elaine is very knowledgable, it is fantastic to speak with her regarding her wines — she is clearly very passionate! The hardest decision to make was which bottle to take home!

The best winery we have ever visited thus far. Elaine was fantastic. She was very friendly and helpful. My favorite wine was the Dry Orange Muscat white wine. Must include as one of your stops when passing through this area.

Elaine is awesome! She is the winemaker and did the pours. I learned all about the process and enjoyed some great tastes. This is a MUST stop right on the way to Julian.

We went to this winery on a recommendation. The tasting room is wonderful. There is a fireplace with a large couch, a picnic bench dining table that can seat 10 – 12 people and a bar. The wine tasting is a sit down tasting, where the server comes to you once you have finished each tasting. If you want to taste all theirs reds, it is $ 10. They serve a petite Syrah and a reserve petite Syrah. The reserved petite Syrah showed some potential but probably needed more time to breathe or time in the bottle. I enjoyed the tasting room and the kindness of Elaine(winemaker), but none of their wines really appealed to me.

If you want good wine, a friendly host, some history and an open vineyard then this is the place to go! I’ve been to my fair share of winery’s in this area and thus far this is the only place I’ve been to that allows you to enjoy your wine while walking through the vineyards. The owners are absolutely amazing and the wine speaks for itself. Not to mention the property has some military history attached to it — all of which you can read about and see while visiting. Definitely one of my favorite boutique wineries!
