These guys were good. I had siding replaced and the two windows that were leaking on that side of the house. They came out quickly, bid earnestly(lower cost than local SF firms – but not by that much) and then patiently answered all my questions over 3 or 4 emails. They didn’t bait and switch, try to upsell or become unresponsive after we signed the agreement. In fact they don’t take a dime until the job is over and you are satisfied. When it cam to the work, they arrived on time, completed the work on time, cleaned up and delivered what they said they would. All the employees were polite, respectful and seemed to know and like what they were doing. The only(minor) complaints I would have that I had to have them come back twice to finish a few details which were part of the job. They did so without an argument or without trying to upcharge/upsell. I wish they accepted credit cards without the 3% fee, but what can you do. I would definitely invite them to bid on another project and would use them again, for sure.

The owner, office manager, and employees of this company are great. Very personable and customer service oriented. The price they gave me was also excellent. They even gave ma a price break for having some electrical done before. I only have a couple complaints. The owner gave me the bid and came by at the start of the job but never came back for a final walk through. He never asked me about different options available on the French door I had installed so I ended up with an ugly white color stock hardware. I had done my research and knew what finish I wanted but neglected to tell them. I actually knew more about hardware options than they did. To their credit, they came back and installed the hardware I wanted. They also installed an ugly metal threshold on the interior of outswing French doors. Amazingly, this is the only threshold offered by Ply Gem, the window company and Ply Gem states that if I put another threshold on it will void the warranty(Ply Gem review coming soon :). Nevertheless, after the hardware situation, Alco was not too interested in fixing the threshold. Another thing I was disappointed in was that I discussed putting a double hung window in the bathroom but neglected to notice on the contract that all windows were single hung. Basically, Alco has all the tools in place to be a great company. I think they just tried to score with price and dropped the ball on paying attention to details. I don’t think they have much experience installing French doors. Otherwise, they would have known of the different options to ask me about to head off later problems. I hope they learn from my experience so others get the benefit. Alco accepts credit cards but charges a 3% fee.
