Yesterday, I went here for lunch w/2 of my coworkers(1 of which introduced me to this place. Inside the building(which is open to the public), there is a Peet’s Coffee and The Golden 1 Credit Union. To the right leads to a cafeteria style location w/several businesses located within. I saw a salad bar, a soda machine, a Mexican place, a breakfast café, a couple of others I missed, refrigerated packaged foods, and an Asian Kitchen(actual name). I actually patronized the latter. I noted that there was a lot of food choices in this place but chose the Chinese style offerings. My coworker who was ahead of me chose the Healthy Portions Special(HPS), which was $ 3.75(1 entrée and 1 fried rice or chow mein). I noted that they probably give less food than if you chose the 1 item combo w/1 fried rice or chow mein(I believe it was $ 4.99). 1 entrée by itself was $ 3.00. I chose the HPS and went with chow mein and Orange Chicken. I paid w/cash since a sign by the cashier says they only take credit cards for $ 5+ purchases. I opened my styrofoam tray to find not much in the way of food. Only choose HPS if you’re not feeling hungry at all. I was later famished before dinner. I found out from my other co-worker that you can choose half & half for fried rice and chow mein. Even 10 mins later the Orange Chicken was still tasty & crunchy and they don’t put too much vegetables in the chow mein. I only wish it had more food but I guess you can’t expect much for $ 3.75. It came out to about $ 4.04 including tax. I didn’t buy a soda but I noted the self-serve machine has cheap prices for soda(92 cents for a small and it might be refillable). I would come back to eat again but I noticed that I would probably have to spend at least $ 5 to be satisfied. My review would be 3.5 stars(if I could take away a star and a half for being so chintzy on the portions) for Asian Kitchen and 4 stars for the café in general.

Great place to get a sandwich and soup when visiting friends at the café inside FTB SITREP Not really a place I would go «just visit» to be honest. My idea of a good time does not usually involve going to a State Office that wants to get from money from me. But I certainly have no problem when the financial transaction involves getting food and drink in return. This is more of place to catch a bite while doing training in one of the instructional rooms or in between morning and afternoon meetings on budget-taxation-revenue issues affecting my department. SETUP Basic grill, soup, salad options with some other random items. There is adequate seating and I always seem to see somewhere here that I recognize from some part of my past 20 years of state service in many different agencies. THELOWDOWN Decent food options for the trapped.
