These marketing firms advertise themselves online, in as many job forums as possible, with this verbage that asserts «super duper official business» in terms that insinuate suits, ties, and «global» initiatives or «international relations» drawing many young people in with an image that directly corresponds to their desire to do something with their lives and get ahead. And that’s what I am commenting on. When it really comes down to it, beneath alll of that of that smoke it really means standing inside costco or sam’s club selling sheets, «high end» skincare products or directv services on commission (that’s your hypothetical 75k salary alleged in the ad, most will not receive anywhere near it) to people going about their business on their day off. Trust me. I’ve spent half a summer figuring it out the hard way. This is in no way an exaggeration. Is this a disgraceful profession? NO! Not at all. However almost all of these marketing firms in the Sacramento area are pretty much the same in that respect. And they recruit with less than 100% candid means of describing themselves. Usually. Except for some that DO disclose what you’re really in for in the ads on linkedin or ziprecruiter. But most don’t really. You don’t realize until you’re sitting there with 2 cum laude degrees in a suit finding out for yourself. I really loathe the thought of seemingly holding disdain for people who excel at such a job, and I want to make it clear that I don’t! Not one bit. But I am writing this because I’m fairly sure that someone else is going to be hunting, approaching the interview process and looking them up to find out more information (as anyone should do if they take the process seriously). Odds are, the average college graduate with good vocational experience is going to be looking for something else. You often sit down with your proper 15 mins early in the front office with the admin assistant in these places just calling, calling, calling people– it makes you wonder whether or not they’ll interview anybody, just to find the people who are suitable to sell for them. And that’s not a very cordial speculation. However if this helps one or two people who are expecting to further their career in international relations, implement their business degrees or their technical degrees well or further their full time careers in anything other than Sales when they get a call just realize this. They are all remarkably similar, and I’ve found out firsthand.
If you’re great at sales, and you genuinely like sales, then this is the place for you to pursue a career. And if you genuinely like and excel at sales then you might have a great potential for advancement. Some people do, and they have a great career ahead of them!

You know, after reading reviews on this company, I was EXTREMELY skeptical to come in for an interview. I applied for a marketing position and had experiences with other companies that rubbed me the wrong way (i.e. Cutco, Kirby, etc.) so I was like, «oh, another one of those.» I’m so glad I don’t let the opinions of others determine my own. FYI, every company gets bad reviews. Honestly guys, you can’t believe everything you read on the internet. Anyways, so I was called in for an interview and I decided to go in despite how everyone on here feels.
I’m just really confused and here’s why: There’s a couple of people on here saying that they were lied to or bamboozled, the company is sketch or whatever they said. When I sat with the manager, I feel like everything was laid out to me in pretty good detail. I was told that I would be cross trained in multiple areas besides marketing, like PR, HR, Office Procedures, and Special Events. She used words like «Business to Business» «canvassing» and «direct marketing.» She explained that I would be talking to business owners and promoting a brand. She even told me the pitch. I’ll just assume that she tells everyone this, so that leads me to believe that half of you just weren’t listening. She explained the second interview and how I would be going to a business with a rep to see the marketing firsthand which I thought was cool.
The girl in the front called me later to confirm and told me exactly what I was going to be doing, AGAIN. And when I came in the next day, I heard it one more time. I consider myself an educated person (I graduated from USF and will be going to Law School soon), but I feel like a 12-​year-​old would understand what the job is about. They literally lay it all out for you multiple times, so if you’re still confused after all of that, Idk what to tell you. I guess maybe people are mad because it wasn’t what they expected for their first REAL job out of college, but just because it’s not your style doesn’t mean it’s a scam. It just means it’s not for you. Unfortunately, I can’t commit to a commute from SF to Sacramento on a daily basis right now, but I would recommend anyone looking for a new career to at least check it out and see if it’s a good fit.

I come from a diverse background of different occupations and have been trained by many different degrees of leaders. Out of every company I have been trained by, nothing comes close or compares to how involved, dedicated and professional as West regal is.
I have became very flexible with my schedule and have invested a lot of time into this company. The thing that impresses me so much is that they invest an equal or even more time into me and no other company has ever shown me that level of attention and respect. The caliber of the team members is like nothing I have ever been around. The trainers have degrees in business, psychology, PR — advertising and human development which makes them good resources for business. The owners and leaders habits are so healthy in and out of the business. They think big and overall are a great example to anyone, which makes me strive to be my best everyday.
After a month in this business I have gotten familiar with marketing strategies and the different platforms used to create brand awareness. I have also started training new hires, and have done several interviews. I’m excited about the experience I’ve gained so far and looking forward what’s to come.

I worked at West Regal as a Marketing Intern for my major. I was just looking to gain more hands on experience. The management staff was very nice and professional when I came in. I was asked back for another interview where I would be able to ask one of the trainers a few questions and get to see the marketing first hand. He was very nice and explained everything to me. They offered me a position and I took it. After my first day, I was a little nervous about working there. It was fun meeting people, but not what I was used to. It’s really easy & anyone can do it, but honestly, it’s not for everyone. You really have to work hard. I worked here for a few months until I relocated back home to be closer to my family, but I really learned a lot. They even gave me a reference for future jobs so overall, my experience was a good one.

When I initially came in for an interview, I was a little skeptical because I had been applying to so many companies that seemed like a scam. But when I came into the office I had a sudden sense of relief because everyone I met was so friendly. I didn’t have to wait too long to be seen by the manager, who was a younger woman… which made me feel very comfortable because I can relate to her. She was very nice and explained the business in detail. This company offers a lot of growth which I’m super excited about. I have a second round interview next week and hopefully I can start with them right away!

I learned so much during the first few months here. The training program was rigorous, and can be challenging but I am thankful for the opportunity. Like any business you have to learn to work with different people but I am really surrounded with positive people that are helping me to do so. If you have the opportunity check West Regal out for yourself! I just thought I would share my experience.

Please save yourself the time and DO NOT interview here. This place is a scam. They advertise themselves as a «marketing firm» when in reality it is selling makeup door to door to local businesses. The office is very unprofessional in that the manager keeps her dog there, the dog constantly does his business on the carpet and the whole office smells like dog feces. Not worth your time!
