Tammy’s music sounds really great. Unfortunately, I was never able to actually experience her teaching, because the number and email listed on her website had both changed and attempting to contact her through Facebook only yielded a response about six months after I reached out. This might have been some fluke or freak occurrence that has now been fixed, but its something to keep in mind if you, too, have trouble making contact.

Tammy teaches at the College Avenue Church of the Nazarene as well as in Rancho Cucamonga and La Crescenta where my daughter has also taken classes with great results. My first review from her Rancho location is below. I linked to her Unilocal review for La Crescenta is below as well: In the time my daughter has been visiting Tammy she has improved dramatically. When she started she sounded good. Now she sounds like a pro. She has gained a serious attitude and focus about her singing and the renewed dedication is a delight… after all there are many talented people out there who go nowhere because they lack the hard work needed to transform talent into performance. I have to admit that over the time my daughter has been visiting Tammy… my ear has become more attuned and critical just from the time spent listening and learning from my daughter second hand. In short — if you want to train your voice — this is money well spent. La Crescenta location:

I’m sitting here trying to figure out what to say about Tammy and I have to admit a loss for words(those who know me will be shocked). But Abby has been in voice with Tammy for ten months now and I felt it was time to update my review. My last review was based solely on the first lesson and, as the review mentions, I sat in. I have not sat in since. Abby has always had a beautiful voice but after ten months with Tammy there is little comparison between her voice then and now. She is now a trained singer. Since the lessons are only ½ hour and we live 20 minutes away I just hang out in the car and wait. Most weeks Tammy has the windows open so, while I don’t sit in, I hear most of the lesson. I am blown away by the professionalism, not only Tammy’s, but my daughter’s as well. Her goals have grown and changed. Now Abby wants to study vocal performance in college. Thanks to Tammy she will be very competitive when she auditions. As part of Abby’s training Tammy puts on three recitals each year. I was surprised when Abby told me that kids she knows who study with other coaches don’t have recital opportunities. So far one has been in Upland and two have been in La Crescenta, where Tammy also teaches, so be prepared to drive. Tammy also provides opportunities to enter competitions and other programs that stretch the students and reward their hard work. All these extras broaden and enhance Abby’s experience. As I said in my original review, Abby has three ½ hour private lessons and one 1 hour group lesson(w/several of her classmates from choir) each month. And we pay a tidy sum. But Tammy doesn’t give just that amount of time and walk away. She is available to me by phone for discussion so that Abby stays on track to meet her goals. We discuss areas where Abby is strong and areas where she has work to do. We prepare for the next steps in Abby’s path. Tammy isn’t just Abby’s vocal coach, she’s a valued member of the«team» that will help Abby accomplish her goals. I’m very grateful to have her in our corner.
