Most amazing food around! Brett, the chef, uses fresh, seasonal food and presents it in unique, delicious ways. Only open for a few hours a day, and not on Sunday, this is the locals’ best kept secret! Not cheap but seriously, the BEST!

Delicious food and really nice ambiance. Tucked away from crowds. Will definitely drive from San Pedro to dine here again.

Been here a few times. Food is several levels above what it should be given it’s an art center café. Like, really good. I wish there was a bit more seating and that the kitchen wasn’t separated from the dining area — slows down service. I’m bummed they got rid of breakfast. I think with a little advertising this could be an extremely hot spot. Suffers from out of sight, out of mind.

Loved this hidden spot of deliciousness! It’s at the Palos Verdes Art Center, so there is no signage except the name on the umbrellas. The waiter was knowledgeable and friendly, the décor was modern and fun, and the food was tasty. We’ll definitely stop by again when we’re in the area.

Menu is amazing for a tiny place like this. Service is warm and helpful. My husband and I love taking our little son here because everyone is so friendly. I love the tacos and salads(add shrimp to everything) and my husband loves the sandwiches. Impossible to leave without getting the chocolate sea salt cookies or the cake with lemon curd. They do pop up dinners now and then – about $ 50/person for four creative courses with fresh ingredients. In the mornings I like to get an egg sandwich and a cup of tea– it’s a great spot to meet a friend or bring a book for a quiet break. If you’re in PV you absolutely have to try this place.

Happen to be in the area and was looking for a light/healthy lunch. This place is located within the Palos Verdes Art Center. Fun and fresh atmosphere, delicious food. We both ordered salads and were very pleasantly surprised. Would definitely return next time I am in the area.

Great place for a reasonably priced lunch with friends at the Art Center. Their food is terrific and made on premise in most cases. The staff is friendly, Brett was our server and he was very knowledgeable about menu. You might think the menu is limited but each dish is uniquely prepared which makes it very unique and delicious. We had the Super Food Salad and tacos. We also indulged in dessert and were not disappointed. I would highly recommend this new addition to PV. They also offer a limited breakfast menu starting at 9:00 am.

I have visited STRIPES twice in a short period of time. This is a wonderful place to have delicious food and a fun afternoon. The chef is gracious about adapting menu items to make them vegan friendly. The service is excellent and the P.V. Art Center and gift shop are worth visiting as well.

Outstanding food! I had the burger with bacon and goat cheese avocado spread, probably the best burger I’ve ever had. The combination of original flavors and high quality ingredients produced an experience on par with securing one’s legacy in this world. I also sampled the corn cookie, chocolate chip cookie, and lavender oil cake. Everything exceeded expectations, the chef Brett really knows what he is doing!

Great little café in the Art Center. Lunch offers salads and sandwiches. Small menu but with creative choices. Food is delicious. Chef is very talented and comes to the tables to see how the customers are doing.

I eat here about once or twice a week and have never been disappointed. The food is fresh, sourced locally and healthy(not to mention reasonably priced). Since the weather here is usually fair I tend to eat outside and enjoy the spectacular view of downtown and the Hollywood Hills. I recommend the espresso coffee, fresh and home-made scones, muffins, breakfast egg sandwiches, salmon, any of the salads and especially the hamburger and home-made sweet potato chips. It is a clean and upbeat atmosphere and perfect way to spend the afternoon after viewing the art in the galleries. Conveniently close to nearby hiking trails at the PV Nature Preserve where you can see spectacular views of the Pacific and walk off a chocolate and sea salt cookie of lavender cake.

Stripe Café is the new café in the Palos Verdes Art Center. Adjacent to the entrance, it is a modern place with an industrial vibe. There is patio and inside seating as well as a few bar seats at the window. There is exposed plywood and white table/chairs as well as colorful«stripes» giving the café its name. I recently came in for lunch. The staff is friendly and moderately attentive(beverages sat empty a few times). The menu has a few salads, a few sandwiches and two«hot» dishes(tacos and a burger). The sandwiches come with potato or sweet potato chips or the salad of the day. I wanted the short rib grilled cheese with some greens on the side($ 10). Unfortunately, they will not just give you chopped romaine in lieu of the carbo-load pasta salad. So, I ordered the kale salad($ 10) with chicken($ 4). The salad was tasty but there was not a single leaf of kale and it is pretty small. There was about a cup and half of arugula tossed in a light amount of pomegranate yogurt dressing with blueberries, dried apples(crispy), a couple of tablespoons of beluga lentils, walnuts and skinned cherry tomatoes. There were 4 strips of chicken that were about 3″ long, ½″ wide and 1/8″ thick. The chicken was dry, and I found it remarkable that they could cut such incredibly small pieces of chicken(altogether, it was less than 1 oz of chicken for $ 4). The greens and dressing were very good — peppery greens with a moderately sweet and creamy dressing are a good combination. The blueberries, walnuts and lentils were complimentary flavors, but the tomatoes(although sweet) were odd and stood out in the salad as out of place. Overall, it was a $ 14 salad with very little chicken and no kale. I was hungry when I left. Fortunately, we had very good company. But, I would not come here again unless I was incidentally in the art center and desperate for something to eat.

Located within the Palos Verdes Art Center, Stripe Café, is open for breakfast and lunch. It is a great place to get a wonderful cup of coffee and house made roll. Try the morning roll it is crispy out side and moist inside. Great salads and sandwiches for lunch. The Art Center is a great place to meet, see the current exhibition and(now) have something to eat. The staff is friendly and eager to help. The hill has needed a place to meet and have a quick meal for some time. The café is operated by Thank Goodness it’s Sophia(TGIS) who has been catering parties on the Hill for years. Everything she does looks good and tastes good.
