This ranks as the absolutely worst motel I have ever stayed in. I actually stayed at the motel about 10 years ago for the first time, and at that time it was just a cheap motel(i.e., you got what you expected). However, it has gone way downhill since then. This past summer I was doing some work near Taos and needed an inexpensive place to stay. The Budget Host Inn had the lowest rates I saw in town(about $ 50/night). Not worth it! Be warned. This is a seedy hole-in-the-wall where you will never feel safe or clean. The maintenance is terrible. Its like they are just trying to get by by fixing as little as possible that goes wrong. There were all manner of problems like ripped carpets, toilet flush lever that kept falling off, holes in wall, etc, etc. Worst of all, the window came completely out of the window frame and there was no way to lock it shut – not a good situation for a ground level room in a seedy neighborhood. The room was terribly dirty. It did not seem to have been cleaned after the last people left. The walls are paper thin and some of the«long term tenants» and guest with a barking dog made the place a miserable stay. We left after one night and I will never return. We went to the Quality Inn up the road for the rest of the stay and am very glad we left the Budget Host Inn. Wow! Truely terrible and no excuse for it.
