Sun High Orchard

VERY big fan of this place. GREAT corn, nice tomatoes and very friendly staff. The place has the kind of feel that is warm and inviting, very old timey. Love the apple butter. Lots to try.

Nice place! But go early, and stay for a couple of hours. I went with daughter and her friend, they are 13 and enjoyed it.

Got there around 4pm on a Sat. The store was a complete zoo and cars littered the street. But once we got to the orchard to pick apples things improved. Even though we were late in the day we found plenty of apples to pick. And since we had cash we could avoid the long lines inside.

A relatively small farm with the basics. There were a lot of apples and small trees lined in their farm. It wasn’t a huge area and most of the trees are pretty small.
The cider donuts were good. They are only slightly sweet so if you want a sweeter taste, definitely get the cinnamon sugar or powdered sugar options. And they are only $ 5 for 6 donuts or $ 0.90 each. They also have other basic snacks that are very reasonably priced.
The apples were $ 2 per pound and there is no admission fee. Not a place that will take a whole day, but a nice stop for an hour or so. I can’t justify driving an hour just to visit this farm.
The staff was fine. The lady selling the donuts and snacks was a little curt, but overall fine.
They only have port-​a-​potties. And no hand washing stations so bring hand wipes and hand sanitizer!

We love this farm! You don’t have to take out a second mortgage to go pumpkin picking here :-) Reasonable prices, happy employees, and great quality pumpkins and apples. This is our «go-​to» farm!

Extremely rude staff. It never said that dogs were NOT allowed so I went in thinking it was okay. On my way towards apple picking they yelled no dogs extremely loud and rude. Not even a nice I’m sorry there are no dogs allowed. I also went to the manager to ask if it was okay since we drove an hour to get to the place and he was extremely mean about it. Other than that this place is crowded and small. Apples are pretty good and pumpkins are okay.

This place is extremely over-​crowded busy and small. Plus after driving an hour and half to get here from the city we had at least 5 employees yell at us for bringing our dog. No dogs allowed in the parking lot, on any of the grounds or other-​wise EXTREMELY dog-​unfriendly. If you guys hate dogs that much, maybe you ought to mention something on your website. So unfriendly we left after 10 mins and drove to another NORMAL orchard/​farm where they allow animals. I’ve never encountered an orchard in NYS that has a problem with dogs. Lesson learned, Jersey.

Came here last weekend to pick apples. It’s one of the few places in the area that still has apples at this time of year. They were pretty nice and helpful. It’s a pretty easy system. You get a bag, walk out to the orchard and pick what you want. You pay for what you get. It’s not a huge place, but it was fine for what we needed. We were two adults, looking to get some apples. There were some animals to check out, if that’s what you’re interested in and some of those wooden cut out things to pose for pictures, like you’re the farmer or an ear of corn. I think they had hay rides earlier in the season, but this is November, so I felt lucky to find a place with apples and pumpkins. The hot cider was tasty and the service was pleasant. I’d go again next year for apples. looks like a good sized farm and it looks like they have more than apples at different times of the year.

We visitied Sun High Orchards in Randolph the weekend of 10÷5÷13 to pick apples.
It was a little more crowded and commercial than I had hoped but not as bad as
the place we went last year (and I need to keep track of these places better).
But overall pretty nice. Once you get in the orchard, it doesn’t feel crowded. No charge to pick but apples were 1.79 lb which seemed a little high from past experience but not too bad.
There were pony rides ($ 7!)
and a hayride ($ 1). Farm animals to feed and look at. There were some shaded
tables which was nice because it was so unseasonably warm. Donuts (.90) were
ok, not the greatest. Cider and several flavors of ice cream were reasonably priced (1.75 for a small cones).
All the employees I encountered were pleasant.

What an awesome place! Went apple picking here yesterday and was pleasantly surprised. Didn’t even know it existed til this weekend! I have to say, I have had better cider donuts, but other than that it was a great experience and I would go back for sure!

So we hit Sun High at the end of the apple season last week, but they still had plenty of fruit. The farm is a decent size with apples to pick, pumpkins to choose from, hay rides, and farm animals. We brought the kids and they had a good time playing with the pumpkins, getting their pics taken at the cut-​outs, seeing farm animals for the first time, and picking their first apples.
They had a little store where they sell produce in addition to the apples, some knick knacks, apple cider, pies, and dumplings. When I entered the store, I smelled fresh apple pies that just came out of the oven. Too bad they didn’t sell by the slice. Their apple dumplings looked good, especially seeing several people eating them out in the field. One look at them, I stopped in my shoes. There were flies buzzing around them inside the plastic box that housed them. And their pies (apple, cherry, pumpkin, etc.) sat in wood cases that may also see a fly or two. I opted for the apple cide in the refrigerator case.
The animals seemed a little depressing. Although it had rained all weekend, it didn’t seem like the owners take good care of them or their enclosures. The cages were beat up and under maintained.
All in all, this is a good place to pick different apple varieties. We should have better luck next year when we go in the beginning of the season.

A farm market for vegetables this place isn’t that great. Barely any selection and you can do better at most supermarkets or Burinnis down the road.
As a pie bakery this place is 5 stars — its the best pies in the area no contest. I also recently tried the homemade ice cream which was very good as well.
They also do a good job in the fall with the kids pumpkin hayride experience.

Excellent place for young children (3 – 8). I brought my class on a field trip and the guide was very friendly. She tailored the program to the age group (kindergarten) and the students got to take a pumpkin and apples from the farm. They loved seeing the animals and walking the farm.
The farm is great for class trips or families. There were families with young children there when we were and all were having a wonderful time.

Great place to spend a summer or fall day with the family! We are Manhannites and wanted to get out for the day to take our 17-​month old toddler to a pumpkin patch so we took the one hour drive out here today after finding this place on Google. We met a friend from NJ with their 13-​month old here and we all had a wonderful time.
The farm is on the smaller side, but was perfect for our little ones. They seem to grow corn, apples, peaches and pumpkins. Not sure what else. They also have some animals which seem more for display than commercial — geese, a pig, sheep. There is a spacious open lawn-​like area in the front where they spread out pumpkins and gourds with some fun little spaces for the kids to play, including a tent and a couple of those funny boards with cut-​outs for kids to stick their heads through and take photos. There are also maybe 6 big tables covered for shade to have lunch and relax. Our highlight was walking through the apple trees, taking photos, and plucking fresh apples off the trees and munching on them. Our kids loved them!
There is also a pretty large market with fresh produce from the farm and plenty of items from nearby farms. They also make their own soups, pastries, pies, bread and ice cream. Nothing is heated so it’s mostly to take home, but there are plenty of items for snacking. Some sandwiches or something warm would have nice so we could have had a proper meal. We had the ice cream which was fantastic (the pumpkin and apple pie were may favorite) and also tried a fresh Dutch Blueberrry pie which was great. Also enjoyed the sesame semolina bread loaf. We grab a couple of buckets of apples to take home, among other things. The prices were very, very reasonable.
The farm owner, Don, was walking around and introduced himself to us and was very chatty. He’s a second generation farmer and absolutely loves what he does. This is a very kid-​friendly place. In fact there were 6 separate school buses from local schools (some were from North Bergen) but the place has plenty of capacity so it was never too crowded.
I think they have hay rides and tours on certain days or times, but we didn’t do any of those.
We will definitely be back next summer/​fall and try to catch peach season (beginning of August to mid September).

Went here this weekend for apple picking. This is a really cute place that will get anyone into the fall spirit. They have a huge selection of trees that have pretty much any type of apple you’re looking for – red delicious, golden delicious, mcintosh, empire, liberty, fuji, etc.
The only thing I recommend is getting there just a little earlier in the season, as about ²⁄₃ of the apples had already been picked/​fallen to the floor. This also may be due the high wind gusts that we’ve had the last couple of days.
There’s also a moderately sized pumpkin patch where there are great photo ops for the kids. Hayrides, a small animal zoo, pony rides too! Lastly the shop has a woodburning fireplace and hot apple cider – this place is a highly recommended local fall spot.
