I LOVE the Pine Tree Frosty or as my English mother-in-law calls it Mr Frosty. It is such a great a cute little American venue. The Pine Tree Frosty is only open during the summer as it is an open front ice cream pallor. This is great in the summer as you can sit on the picnic benches or by the pond. When I was a kid, the Frosty sold food for the ducks that live on the pond before. They don’t do this anymore due to health reasons(swimmer’s itch). The Frosty is a part of my childhood. I remember riding my bike down main street with my brother to get ice cream! The ice cream here is also a Maine brand(Giffords)! My favorite is the cotton candy ice cream or the vanilla soft serve with peanut crunchy jimmies! This is one of the corner stones of Rangeley! I can’t introduce someone to Rangeley without including a trip to the Pine Tree Frosty! Absolutely love it.

Frosty is a great little outdoor Ice cream parlor. The Ice cream is creamy and yummy and you can get whatever toppings you desire. The portions are pretty large. I got a small hard serve and I was surprised at the size of it. It’s cash only but it’s not very expensive. They try to keep the line moving as fast as possible and sometimes there are crowds after movie let’s out. The food isn’t terrific for lunch(it’s typical greasy food like lobster rolls, grilled cheese, fries and hamburgers) but the view, benches in the back, ducks swimming around and green lawn are a nice touch.

Get the Gifford’s, not the soft serve, which was insufficiently creamy.

The Pine Tree Frosty(PTF) is everything that I love about the New England area in one tiny place. Every single time I visit Rangeley, I visit the PTF at least three times. It has to happen. Giffords ice cream is the best. I wish I could somehow get it on the West Coast, but at the same time I love that it’s become synonymous with the East for me. I love everything about Giffords. The PTF is the perfect place. The location is great as it’s right on Main Street and walking distance to the lake. The picnic tables provide the best ambiance as you sit and stare out to the pond behind PTF and enjoy a waffle cone filled with moose tracks. This is definitely a must have if you’re visiting Rangeley!

We all scream for Ice Cream here at Pine Tree Frosty! Great Ice Cream, at a great price! Very good food as well. My boyfriend and his family have owned a lake home in Rangeley that they rent out in Hunter’s Cove and we come here to the Frosty every time we visit! We just came up last week for vacation, and we ordered Lobster Rolls! Although they were smaller, they were very tasty and the rolls came with fries. We were still hungry so of course we got ice cream! I had a hot fudge sundae with cookies & cream ice cream, whip cream and nuts… well I was nuts about it!!! Haha It was the perfect amount, and my bf got a butter finger flurry! Very good! They are on a beautiful pond, and have plenty of picnic tables! Great place to relax and eat! Only complaint I had was, the girl that worked there didn’t have the best customer service and they do not except anything besides cash. So hit up the ATM before you arrive!

A near perfect ice cream stand. I’ve been coming here for literally my whole life. It’s honestly really hard for me to be objective about it. Grab yourself a waffle cone full of moosetrax and settle yourself in at a picnic table by the pond around back. Feed the ducks, spy a loon and enjoy life. If you have your pooch with you they have small doggie size dishes of soft serve that come complete with a topping of little dog biscuits.

The Pine Tree Frosty is the standard to which all other ice cream stands should aspire. Giffords is good ice cream, the stand has the perfect summer vibe, the prices are reasonable, the location can’t be beat, shoes are optional. Lobster rolls, too! To get a cone and walk around back to watch kids feed the ducks on Haley Pond is to go back in time into the very cozy memories of my childhood. Can’t be beat.

The Pine Tree Frosty has been serving yummy ice cream since I have been a child. Now that I bring my kids to Rangeley they love it too. We’ve already been three times this week, so far. .. They have soft serve and Giffords. The prices are affordable. And, the ducks on the pond out back are entertaining. You can also buy standard hot dog/burger stand food there, but we usually only get their ice cream.

Since scoops is now part of moosely bagels this is the town’s only ice cream place. That said we are glad it’s great despite being your only choice.
