Colt Motel

We got the room with 1 king and 1 double. It was clean and inexpensive and we could shut the door between us and the kids, which was nice. We had the misfortune of having loud drunk fighting neighbors who looked fairly sketchy, but made it safely through the night. Shower had good pressure and there’s a little garage for each unit. Old but more than adequate.

During a big road trip adventure, I happened to be winding my way through northern New Mexico and needed a cheap ‘no frills’ place to stay. The Colt Motel pleasantly fit the bill. Using the Kayak app for locating a motel, I meandered into Raton and found The Colt Motel at the other end of it. The room was spacious and comfortable, the price was very reasonable, WiFi was good, and the staff friendly and courteous. What was unique about the place was the charming Americana feel to the place… The motel rooms all had a private adjacent ‘garage’ section right next to my unit. Having everything I owned stashed in my car, this was nice for reasons of security and convenience.
If you are in need of a cheap and distinct motel to crash in with no hassles, this is your place.
