Mediocre service and mediocre food. One of the chairs at our table had something sticky all over the side of it so when my friend went to pull herself into the table her hand got covered in whatever the mess was. All salads at the table had wilted slimy greens mixed in. One person didn’t even get their salad. Appetizers were edible but wasn’t impressed. Ordered a quesadilla and was full after eating only 1⁄3rd of it. Planned to take the rest home but while I was up from my seat the server took it and cleared my spot. Thankfully they made me a new quesadilla to go at no cost to cover the error. I appreciated that! Not my favorite place to eat but at least they were able to accommodate our group of 13 and everyone left satisfied and full.

What can i say except wow am i far from Home in a deserted land called ravena. This diner is pretty much the only Place to eat that i can find around this area so we gave it a go. Got the hot open turkey and it was a winner. The usual mashed potatoes and gravy. Filled me up and tasted good. I still couldnt wait to Leave though. Not because of the food or Anything– the diner and servers were great people. Good food and clean place– but once you go outside you look around and get that im on the walking dead feeling– like you are in the middle Of nowhere– far from home or any town with life in it– you know the entrance to the highway is only a couple miles up The road– will you make it? Will you ever see another person outside the diner? Or will zombies get you?!! Yeah so Ravena creeps me out but the diner is a welcome place to go into– for food and to trade stories of survival with the few others who made it

Good fresh moist turkey and a real tomato for a nice turkey on rye sandwich. Good Greek salad with chicken. Nice service. Great value.

It’s a typical diner. It could be, and possibly should be a whole lot worse given its location(Ravena is kind of a dump). Prices are on the higher side(more expensive than all the other comparable options within a 10 – 15 mile radius). Nothing special here, but nothing terrible either. By typical diner-of-their-kind standards, it’s a 4.

I’ve recently moved to the area about 6 months ago. Coming from Durham, NY we were pretty excited that there was a diner in our new town. My daughter and I went for a quick bite and we ordered a Ruben to share and stuffed mushrooms(a favorite of ours from the Catskill diner) The Ruben was was good, but the mushrooms, well, Catskill is still our favorite. It is a typical diner with typical diner choices but it is very dark and dated inside. Needless to say the Ruben was not enough for us to want to return. Recently, as I just read in a post from 2009, the Ravena diner is yet again under new Management. So… I went to have a meal with a friend, a real meal this time, and unfortunately it was terrible and if that is how new management is, I will never return. I’ve had plenty of diner food and good meals but this was simply awful. We ordered 2 basic diner meals ½ a chicken and pork loin dinners that came with side, veggies, soup or salad. The chicken had no taste and was just barely cooked. The pork was way over cooked and smothered in gravy that had to be poured straight from the can into a cup and microwaved long before it was served, all the food was barely warm. The baked potato was great, but there’s nothing to be done there. The California veg mix had to have been steamed in a bag and thrown on the plate in a pool of water while the Brussel sprouts were smothered in some red can sauce. In all fairness the waitress did suggest we order the burgers when we asked for recommendations. So… if you’re going to stop at the Ravena diner, stay away from the dinners, you will be disappointed. I really don’t like to give bad reviews but it truly was terrible food.

Hmmm. The blocky bunker like exterior telegraphs the experience fairly well. Diner tests: — breakfast all day — sort of. They turn off the waffle maker. — open 24⁄7. No. — coffee refills/hiya hon service. No. Food was hot but a bit on the slow side, very mundane quality and production. One kid’s Mickey Mouse ear pancake looked like Mickey had a run in with Van Gogh on a bad day for both of them. Reuben was chewy to the point of being inedible. Happy Waitress was American cheese. Egg and bacon was a good sized little meal for a relatively cheap price. Server was sweet and relatively attentive and handled our special requests well. If you go, note this oddity of the Americans with Disabilities Act: you must climb several stairs to get in. Then once inside, you have to go up a step again to get on a little riser where the checkstand is, and then you must step down again to get to every part of the restaurant. It’s not just a question of ‘who thought this was a good idea’ but ‘WHY did they do this? What exactly is the point?’ Maybe they should look for Jimmy Hoffa under that riser. In any event, not recommended but minimally acceptable if you are in need of a diner and happen to be passing by.

Extensive menu gives you a large variety of options. I’ve never had a bad meal here. Very affordable. Great staff.

Generic diner. Surprisingly expensive to be in the middle of nowhere(though it probably costs a lot more to transport food there). Nothing really terrible nor great.

Seems to change management a lot these days — and I know the prices recently got bumped up, so it’s kind of difficult to give a review that won’t end up dated in a few months’ time. However, growing up just a few streets away from the Ravena Diner, I’ve got a lot of very fond memories of this place, many of which involve breakfasts. I agree with Jess X: it’s a quintessential diner. If that’s what you’re looking for, you could do a whole lot worse. And if you have any interest in small-town people-watching, you couldn’t do better. All in all, if you’re looking for that casual, small-town diner feel, this is a great option. Objectively, on the grand scale of restaurants, though, the Ravena Diner, like most diners, leaves something to be desired. Hence, the three stars.

I wish I had a great story about the Ravena Diner, but I’m sadly lacking one. The truth is that I’ve only stopped here twice while en route to other places for a quick and filling breakfast. This is just your quintessential diner, complete with early bird specials and those funny amber-brown plastic tumblers. The servers are relatively friendly. Expect to find all the diner standards, including all-day breakfasts and meatloaf sandwiches.
