I recently needed to find a new eye doctor and decided to give Southtown’s Optical a try because of how close they are to where I live, and they accept my insurance. I am very pleased with how the business looked and felt, how the eye exam went, the amount of frame options they had, and how well the employees treated me. When walking in there for the first time, the first thing that I really liked was how the inside looked. It was very welcoming & small, yet professional feeling. Even though they are small, I believe that they actually had a larger & better selection of frames than my old eye doctor had. I am absolutely obsessed with the eyeglasses that I got from Southtown’s Optical! The service there is very professional and the people that work there are extremely friendly and helpful. I definitely will be using this eye doctor in the future. It really is true that smaller businesses provide higher quality and more personable service than larger business do. I definitely would recommend this eye doctor to anyone that doesn’t want to deal with a crowd of people at a larger business, and wants more personal attention, assistance, and service!

They worked well with me before, but at my last visit they made a prescription for contacts and glasses that weren’t strong enough. When I told them I was having trouble reading road signs before I came to them, they checked my eyes again and said no, you’re fine. My mother has been a customer for decades and when she went they told her that her script hadn’t changed, and didn’t do anything to work with her, so she’s just stuck being near-sighted.

There is a lot to be said for smaller businesses providing superior and personal customer service. At the mall eyecare centers, if your insurance has any problems, its up to you to sort it most of the time. they are too busy to try and fix a small problem with one customer. southtown called me a day before my appointment, saying that they ran into a problem and i had to fix it myself according to insurance(a new policy). I received a call a short while later from the receptionist saying she complained on my behalf and her persistence paid off — insurance gave in and let them handle it rather than me. bigger places wouldn’t care enough to do that. thanks southtown!
