Great little place outside of Charleston. Had breakfast here, wish I could come back for dinner’ everything was delicious, and everyone was friendly! If you’re on your way in or out of Charleston, I recommend stopping in for a bite!

As many times as we’ve ridden up and down this highway, I can’t believe we haven’t eaten here before today! Big serving of great«home cooked» food. Lots of choices. Low prices! Looking forward to stopping again!

Great breakfast. Not too much but more then enough so you don’t over eat. Prices were fair and staff very friendly. Will have to come back.

We were driving from Charleston to Florida on US17, and went thru the Unilocal reviews to find a place for our family to have breakfast, and came across the Harvest Moon Low Country Grille: it was *fantastic*. Pancakes with blue berries, eggs, sausage links, hash browns and coffee, grits(I’m not a connoisseur, but they were excellent), everything was wonderful. The service was first rate, and their motto«if it isn’t fresh it isn’t food» shows their great dedication and friendly spirit. The Harvest Moon is worth a trip to enjoy.

Our meal was excellent. These Montana kids in love with low country food. I had grilled fish and crab cake with beets and mac & cheese. Wow. Husband had pork lion with mad and collards. To die for!!! We recommend this place for simple good food and terrific service.

We stopped here on the way to the Charleston airport and were not disappointed. Comfort food verging on excellent. We tried to save room for the previously reviewed apple pie but were unable to.. We will be back.

Two stars are being generous. The pulled pork was okay. The sweet potato fries were cold. Mac and cheese was wateree.

I used to love eating here. The last three times I have been I have been very disappointed. A friend and I both had entrees that were so overcooked as to be inedible. They did take 25% off the bill so that was good, but I will not take the chance again.

We were on the road and decided to stop for lunch before reaching our destination. After checking on Unilocal for places close to where we were, we chose this place based on reviews. So glad we did. Small cozy place with paper menus loaded with yummy sounding offerings. Also, there were lots of items listed on a white board. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many sides offered. There had to have been at least 30 — wish I had counted! We both chose sandwiches. Mine was pulled pork and as a side I chose Mac and cheese — -I don’t think I’ve ever chosen that before anywhere and I’m not sure why I did that day because it’s not something I ever cook or eat. Whatever the reason, it was a fantastic choice for a side. It was so good and obviously homemade — cheesy, but not runny — perfect in my eyes. The sandwich was very good too. Nicely cooked pulled pork on a toasted bun with a thin layer of cole slaw. Husband had the BLT and he said it was the best he had had. It was loaded with bacon that was think and cooked perfectly. Neither of us have ever seen that much bacon in one sandwich. He chose potato salad as his side that was homemade and good too. Portions were more than ample — couldn’t eat it all! Prices were very reasonable. Would love to go there again, but it is very far away from where we live.

Thanks to previous reviewers, we tried the fried corn. It was worth the caloric content! Start things off with a cup of shrimp chowder and you’ll be set for the day. Wait staff was personable and attentive. Next time we are in the Charleston area, «we’ll be back!»

For the price this is the best food in the low country. I have eaten there several times and I have never had a bad meal. If you like good old town country cooking, this is the place to go!

Fried Boloney sandwich, omg it was fabulous, also had the fish and scallops with Limas and fried grits. You would think fried!!! But it was great and not grease. Oh my goodness the apple pie is enormous and good! The ice cream taste like old fashion vanilla.

We trucked out here for Father’s Day brunch, and the food was the best part of the experience. It wasn’t as far out on Hwy 17 as I thought it was going to be, and it is nestled in a pretty nondescript location right next to an O’Reilly’s Auto Parts. The parking lot is sand and gravel for the most part, I guess that adds to the rural southern vibe(?). Inside it is a claustrophobic’s nightmare. The tables are simply packed together, with varying sizes and heights making up the population. Must be a southern home type thing with the mismatched tables. Also, the A/C in this place simply does not cut the mustard. It was set to 77, but it was struggling to maintain 85. Not to mention they had the ceiling fans on backwards, and one of them was broken. There is one unisex bathroom for everyone. To the food… It was better than decent, but not something I have to return for on a weekly or even monthly basis. The majority of the menu is fried, although I was impressed with the amount of sides they offer. They are written up on the board along with the specials(no description, must be a down home southern thing, or is it «thang»?). We started with the fried pickles and the corn fritter/fried green tomato appetizers. The fried pickles were fine, they were crisp without losing all of the moisture of the pickle. My wife thought the tomatoes were«okay» and middle of the road for what she is used to. The corn fritter was really wonderful, fried to a crisp and cooked through, but moist on the inside. With chunks of corn and pepper inside, it is certainly something I would order again. Since we had a large party, there were a few different entrees ordered. I ordered the fried shrimp and scallops, because I completely forgot what a diet was for the day. Again, well done on the fryer, but I couldn’t discern the shrimp and the scallops without breaking the crust. The crust was light and brown, but was also really one note after all of the other fried options we had so far. The slaw was decent, maybe a little to heavy handed with the mayo, and the red rice was better than 90% of the red rice I have had in SC. Wasn’t dried out and had some tomato chunks in it to liven it up, although the ice cream scoop presentation was less than ideal. Wife had the grouper, and she actually ate more than a few bites, so a win there. Mother in law raved over the fried chicken, which looked alright and seemed to be popular among the other diners. The gravy that came with one of the sides looked like chocolate pudding, which was not so hot. Dessert was the bread pudding. It was good, but unusual in that the bread was so dense, it was almost as if I was eating pound cake. The caramel sauce used could have used something unusual to the liven it up, maybe bourbon would have worked? Or something else to not be so cliché? The servers were relatively prompt, somewhat curt, and definitely overwhelmed. Between the heat and the amount of people, let’s just say I hope they were being tipped well. In summary, this is a place for the locals. They serve non-pretentious and competently prepared(mostly fried) foods, at a reasonable price point with portions trending toward generous. The atmosphere is late 1980s, with 1960s or earlier amenities. I’m sure the staff is more cordial when they aren’t swamped. But this isn’t a destination place, there are other places more local to me that do the same thing, at the same price, just as well.

Great Food! Super fresh seafood. All seafood can be ordered grilled or fried. Very delicious side dishes. My favorite black eye pea salad, and red rice. Good portions, very reasonable prices. The absolutely best ever Bread pudding. Kudos to the chef! Would recommend this place highly even to those who don’t think they like southern country cuisine.

My husband and I were running errands near the intersection of Bees Ferry and Savannah Highway and decided to venture down to Ravenel for dinner since it was only about 9 miles away and traffic was light. We had a great time. The service was quick and friendly, and the food was delicious. I had fried chicken and the breading was just the way I like it. One piece of my chicken was thicker than the other so I’m afraid a small bit of the center was slightly undercooked but I cut around the more translucent part and didn’t have a problem. I’m not dumb so I wouldn’t eat it and then complain later. I’ve cooked chicken before and had the same thing happen and my role in life isn’t to shout Gordon Ramsay style at people. So I want the chicken noted, but I won’t say it ruined the night or anything. I would love to come back to this restaurant again because it really did feel like a home away from home, and offered great customer service. Plus it was easy to get into their parking lot and find room to park. Those are big pluses if you’re at all familiar with the city of Charleston. So there you go. If you find yourself in Ravenel and you’re hungry then I highly recommend this place. Enjoy!

Delicious! We stopped here on a whim and I’m so glad we did. I had the crab cakes, and they were delicious! They came with a sauce that is slightly spicy — nice touch. My husband had a shrimp po-boy that he enjoyed, too. Prices are very reasonable. We’ll be back!
