Outside In Restaurant & Bar

The food was decent. The server took about 10 – 15 min to greet our table. Server was prompt after that. Don’t know her name because she never introduced herself. Then as I and my 3 coworkers were leaving we asked for individual itemized receipts for our reimbursement from our company and the woman was ridiculously rude. Her name is MANDY. She was unprofessional and cut me off and yelled because she kept repeating herself telling us what other people requested. We don’t care what other people want we don’t work for their company we are telling you what we need for ours. She was very nasty and rude and as paying customers we are very displeased with her behavior. If you want decent food it’s a great place but you can get better service and respect elsewhere.

My fiancé and I were in Reading for a show at the Santander Arena. We were desperately looking for somewhere to eat when came across a man asking if we were looking for the Outside In. Unfortunately, not being familiar with Reading, it seemed like the only option as we were starving and needed to eat before the show.
After being seated, we waited approximately 15 minutes for someone to take our drink order, and food order by that time. The server never came back around to ask if we wanted a refill, etc. As I look around, numerous tables before us still had not received their food. We waited an addictional 30 minutes for a food before leaving. We left some cash on the table for our drinks, then headed to the show (we ended up eating in the arena). Several tables before us still had not received their food and I was not going to be late for the show because of poor restaurant management.
I genuinely felt sorry for the staff. Two waitresses for the whole restaurant/​bar. Who knows how understaffed the kitchen was. By the looks of it, there was only one food runner in the whole restaurant.

Great food and service. Friendly service and clean establishment. Highly recommend! You won’t leave hungry or disappointed. The hard thing week be deciding on what to order.

First time at the Outside In was great. I went over my lunch break, by myself and it was good and quick, about 40 – 45 minutes.
Located in the big Sovereign Bank building on Penn Street hear in reading, it is inthe main lobby above the actual branch inside. First thing you see is the bar and then right next to it a salad bar and then the dining area. It was simple, quaint, but enjoyabl and very open with seats near the window to watch city life as you dine. A nice long bar with hightop, booth and table seating good for groups of 1 – 4 and looks like small parties as well.
A nice menu with mostly lunch/​bar type foods. I’m sure from what I ‘ve heard that the food is mostly driven to lunch time/​business lunch. I usually like to try chicken cheesesteaks at new places to try and discover a new master of the sandwich but I instead wanted the Cowboy BBQ Burger. This burger is cooked to your liking and comes with a sweet/​tangy BBQ sauce topped with American cheese, lettuce/​tomoato slice and 2 onion rings, served with a side of thin/​crispy fries.
It was delicious. It looked and tasted fresh not frozen. I asked for it to be medium, eventhough it came out medium/​well, it was still good which having no pink didn’t matter to me too much. The fries were crispy and fresh, NOT sitting under a lamp waiting to be divided out. Very filling! Highly recommend for you burger eaters!
The service was nice and stopped back to check on me about 3 times and I was by myself, which was nice.
Overal, for lunch, it was a great stop. They know that you are on your lunch and have limited time but the food is prepared quickly and thouroughly and the service is exact and to the point for speed.
A great place in my book!

Horrible experience! Never even received our beverages despite asking 3 times for them. Of coarse they tried to charge us for them! My $ 8 sandwich consisted of 1 small chicken tender, tomato sauce and bread. The sweet potato fries were good though (gotta give credit where it’s due). Don’t go here!
