Definitely get what you pay for.
I’ve never gone in for a full style, but normally just a wash and trim. I’ve never had a problem with anything being uneven, unfinished, or too short for my liking. I’ve found that being vocal and insistent on what you want helps (once, a stylist tried to take off 4 inches and I basically jumped out of the chair until she listened that NO, I wanted a TRIM.) It’s a Supercuts, not some top end salon, but it always worked out for me.
