We had breakfast and it was excellent! The menu had a wide variety of selections fruit topped pancakes, waffles, and French toast. I had the crabby Benedict. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the crab which was imperialesqu eras delicious! We also ordered the local scrapple which had a good flavor, but was deep fried. It would have been much better cooked on the griddle. Our server was Carol, and she was attentive, on point with our order and drink refills, and pleasant to talk with. As we ate, we watched as the management helped out in every aspect, they bused tables, wiped down tables, checked on patrons and filled drink orders. Very nice experience!

Good consistent diner food! If you like diners, this is your place. Service is good. Salad bar could use some help.

My friend and I were looking for a breakfast spot to grab something before our women’s conference. We saw the diner and went. So glad we did. When we went in they let us pick our booth, and a waitress came a short time later. The staff was friendly. The portion sizes were huge and the food was really good. It was a great find! I had pancakes, eggs and bacon. I could not eat off my pancakes. We were in and out of there before you knew it.

It’s a diner. Standard items on the menu. Son had a burger and fries Husband had the panini Ruben and onion rings — he loved it — I had eggs, sausage and home fries — it was good. The place was pretty busy at 12:30pm and we were seated I believe before anyone could properly clean the table. The seats had sticky syrup and there was food on the floor underneath the table. Yuck. On a positive note our waitress was super nice! She was on her game and very attentive.

We went in for my birthday yesterday and it was horrible. My food was gross and the tall, older man with the accent who worked there flipped out and started yelling at one of the waitresses because she asked a question. Our waitress had to tell him to be quiet because she couldn’t hear the costumers who were two tables away from us. It was so annoying and I felt so sorry for the waitress. Our waitress was in a piss poor mood too but I’m assuming it’s because she has to work with that guy. I’d never recommend this place to anyone. Ever.

IT’S A DINER! ANDIT’S GREAT! I only visited three times, but it was enough for me to fall in love! I have a soft place in my heart for mom and pop diners. I grew up next to one and frequented it at least once a week. Had the same order every morning I went: two sausage links with some scrambled eggs and orange juice. Sometimes a veggie omelette if I was feeling fancy. West Reading Diner reminded me of good times. The lights outside are welcoming, but the parking lot isn’t. I got really confused and parked in the wrong parking lot. Spent half my meal looking at my car and hoping it wouldn’t be towed. Park on the left! Not the right! Everything on the menu is affordable, just like a diner should be, and it’s HUUUUUUUUGE! On our first visit, I ordered chicken francese. This is the second diner I’ve run into that sold this dish and I loved it! Nice and lemony and creamy and it kept well overnight. The next time I munched on buffalo wings and those amaaaaaazing cream cheese stuffed slices of French toast, topped with gooey strawberries. It was perfect! Third visit, chicken parm with even more French toast! I was really digging the soup and salad bar. Even if I didn’t know how I was going to eat it all in one sitting, I managed. They had some cucumber salad kind of thing. Really delicious. Quite the palate cleanser. Our first waitress was really nice. It was her first night, so she was a little nervous, but she was too funny. Cracking jokes all over it place. It really brightened our day.

Took my wife for her Birthday dinner 1−2−16. We both ordered the Delmonico steaks and shrimp combo. Delivered the food. I also start with the steak, it tastes better hot. I went to cut the steak and the knife barely touched it. I finally got a piece. It was extremely tough. Not cooked to medium-rare like I ordered it. The color was horrible too. It was grey. This meant it was previously frozen. Which made for the toughness. I couldn’t even tell how they cooked it. It looked like it may have been in water to thaw it. If it was on a grill of some kind, it didn’t show it. Worst steak I have ever seen in my life. Everything was frozen. I got a bowl of lobster bisque and it was overrun by fake shit. I know a restaurant that uses REAL lobster and it is great and affordable in a cup or bowl. Oh and the surf and turf was a bad steak and THREE shrimp. lol What the hell is that all about? I put the side, broccoli and plate on top of the steak plate and told my wife to eat up, at least what she could. Now the screw the people came into play. I left and went outside, I was so pissed. Wife ate what she could. The cost was $ 14.95 for the surf and turf INCLUDING the soup and salad bar. So they took off my $ 14.95. The bill she paid was 27 bucks. We had pepsi and coffee. No other items. Figure that out. Wife saw something on the bill, she wasn’t allowed to see the check for $ 6.95 or something. The check had several items listed. How can the bill be 27 bucks? $ 14.95 plus whatever the cost of pepsi and coffee and one tiny bowl of the bisque. They ripped us off big time. Before it burned down the food was good-great, after they re-built it sucks big time. FRESH is a thing of the past I guess. If they can’t have fresh red steaks to cook, why have it on the menu? I will never go back period.

This diner used to be a really great place to eat, now it has become the biggest disappointment to hit the streets since the Fiat. The food is hit or miss — mostly miss. In my most recent visits, the home fries were as crunchy as potato chips, the bacon cheeseburger my daughter ordered was served minus the bacon, and the food is generally over salted. The servers, no offense, look like they have walked the tracks. If the food isn’t enough to turn your stomach, having it served by waitstaff who look like they just left a detox center, will do the trick. I’ll spend my money at Crossroads, 5th Street, or Temple Diners. Better food, and wait staff that don’t look skeevy.

I haven’t been here in about 2 yrs, because the last time ants, Flys and roaches called this place home. So during arts in the streets festival I thought I’d give it another chance. Was I wrong! I should have kept walking. My girlfriend ordered western omelet, home fries, bacon… me Louisiana panini, and our son over medium eggs hash browns and bacon. None of us came near finishing our food. The flavor or should I say lack there of, was enough to push the plates away. The waitress picked up a piece of bacon that fell onto her serving tray, with her fingers, and put it on my girlfriends plate. Eww! The home fries turned out to be hashbrowns, sent that back. Gahh! How is this place still in business? Does nobody have tastebuds??? Clean the sticky menus and the window sills too please!

To be frankly honest, I’ve never been disappointed coming to this diner. Its clean, the servers are friendly and their coffee is better than the mud you get at other diners. I was there last weekend and got the Belgian waffles. They were hot, fluffy and had a vanilla-y taste. Served with three containers of syrup and a cup of butter. Perfect! Like other Unilocalers, I just wish they had more to offer instead scrambled eggs prepared 20 different ways.

I grew up in West Reading and I used to love the dinner. The only reason this gets 2 stars is that the food is still good. The service how ever was awful. My girlfriend and I went around 11pm. Our waitress seemed very rushed and jumpy. Our plates hadn’t been on the table a full 30 seconds and our server brought us our check. She didn’t ask for deserts, if we wanted any thing else, she just brought the check right over. Then she was talking about spirits and some pretty weird stuff. Management, you might want to drug test your employees

Great authentic Pennsylvania diner. I love that 50’s look. However, it was nice to see that the interior was period looking but clean and up to date. Staff were warm and friendly and were attentive. Food was typical diner fare with the addition of some great belly busting specials including steak and eggs. I opted for a more local choice of egg sandwich with pork roll and a side of Scrapple. Deelish!

I am giving it 5 stars compared to other diners and what you get for the price. Good food, nice servers, and quick service. I really enjoyed it and always stop here during PSSA testing at the RACC.

Why is it when you order an omelet at a diner, it so often comes out looking like it was a frozen entrée heated up in a microwave? Sometimes it comes out shaped like a giant rectangle, as if someone took the plastic microwave-safe tray, turned it upside-down, and smacked it until it slid out and landed with a *thud* on the plate. Now not all diners serve up food like that. In fact, most diners have mastered the art of breakfast, which is why many of us venture out in the early(or late — depending on how much you’ve had to drink) hours to feast on eggs, bacon, chipped beef, toast, and the like at local diners across the nation. If not for the poor quality of the food, this diner really does nail the«retro» feel of throw-back Americana — you’ve got the retro color palette, the 60’s style glassy architecture, and the big, puffy-cushioned booth seats. It’s just a shame the food and service aren’t quite up to the same standard.

We were in town to see a show at the Santander Center and in all honesty I was planning on taking my wife to a much nicer restaurant for dinner after the show. However the weather changes our plans quite a bit as a nice winter storm decided to stick around a bit longer than expected. We were lucky the storm changed our plans, or we may not have found this amazing little treasure. The food was better than I would have expected, by far. The quality and the portions were far exceeding anything I would have expected. And the prices were great, so very affordable. Thank you for the wonderful service that was provided and the good humor about the storm we well all stuck in the middle of that evening.

This is a place you want to like. It looks classic. It’s clean. You want basic food to be great or have a novel twist. This is not that place. Gruff hostess seats you by the bathroom. Your waitress grunts at you then argues with someone who appears to be the cook. Then she criticizes him to another waitress, while they hover next to your table. Coffee is good. Greek omelet more like scrambled eggs with Greek things. Bill slapped down. Here ya go, get me outta here!

I had to meet a coworker for an appointment. We chose this little diner in Reading. What a filthy, disgusting, foul, awful, crappy, dirty little shithole. This was the worst breakfast ever. I actually was able to find a place on the planet that can ruin eggs. Blech!

I’ve eaten here many a time over the last years of living in the area. The thing about diners(at least this diner) is… order diner food! Breakfast is awesome(all day) — burgers are great. I wouldn’t go here expecting a unique experience(service or food) but they are consistent. Will definitely continue to come here and enjoy with friends and family! ps — the dessert is ALWAYS good.

I’m not much of a breakfast person and they were happy to make a burger and fries in the morning. The only down side, they don’t really tell you what is extra until you see the bill. I didn’t mind paying extra for cheese on my bacon burger but it would have been nice to know it wasn’t included. I’ve been here a few times and will be back!

After a rough night of too many Lord Chesterfilds and other drinks, there was need for«that breakfast.» I found it here! The food is just want you need when you are feeling a little rough around the edges. The best was the fresh baked pastries. I went with the apple danish. They also have jukebox in each booth for you to have your own personal soundtrack with your hangover breakfast.
