FYI the food is 5* I just realized I never reviewed my favorite authentic Mexican spot, this is definitely a hole in the wall but good bang for the buck overall really really good quality! The issue is and the reason they did not get five stars some times the phone rings and rings sometimes you wait more than 15 minutes for pick up. Let me be very clear the food is worth any kind of wait or convenience it is that good!

Authentic Mexican. Some of the best Mexican I have ever had. Very affordable too. I had the cherizzo super nachos and chicken enchiladas. The portions are huge. The bill was $ 24 and this could of fed two people if not three. Amazing place. Will be recommending to anyone that is a fan of Mexican food.

This place is great. I wish I spoke Spanish so I could talk to the worker bit more but their food is always delicious! Nachos with any meat is excellent!

This has become my «go to» Mexican place. I love the burritos(al pastor is a little greasy but SOGOOD!), although not a huge fan of beans and rice in my burrito. But it’s delicious nonetheless! Recently had the chicken nachos and AMAZEBALLS! Flavorful chicken, black beans, pico, and a cheese sauce(wasn’t crazy about the cheese sauce but it was all good). TINY place, and the bathroom is disgusting otherwise I might have given 4 stars. But, I don’t go there for the bathroom lol

Omg. Worst. Lunch. Ever. Ordered Carnitas — totally full of fat and cartilage. You could see pig hairs on the fat. Absolutely disgusting. Couldn’t get past the first bite. Think I’m exaggerating? Order for yourself then post after you vomit. I was very hopeful for place to get quick, good Mexican food, but not this place — extremely disappointing. I can’t imagine these good reviews are legit. I read another review with same complaint about inedible carnitas — I wish I would have read before going. This place is definitely South of The Border — not North.

Got takeout tonight. A burrito platter and super nachos. Both were ordered with carne enchilada(marinated pork). Burrito was nicely done with onions cilantro cheese and meat, rice and beans on the side. It also came with some shredded lettuce,(underripe) tomatoes and radish slices. It was good. The nachos were fine but there wasn’t very much cheese(sauce, not shredded) and they forgot the cilantro, jalapeños, tomatoes and sour cream. This made me very sad. They also used to give you a small cup of guacamole with your nachos but that is gone, too. Although I like the food there I have to take away a star because of the terrible inconsistency of the food assembly. Depending on who is making your food order, it could be great or just average. Who forgets cilantro and jalapeños at a Mexican food place? Must be all of those new sous chefs. *sigh*

Great to report that business at North of the Border was absolutely jamming. The few tables were all occupied, the phone was ringing off the hook with takeout orders, and the delivery man was running in and out every 7 minutes or so. The staff(both kitchen and maitre d) were all busy but despite that, we were able to score a table and get our eat-in orders placed. Resisting the always tempting Chilaquiles Rojos, I chose the protein packed Platillo Azteca I, while my sister chose the other carnivorous delight of the Parrillada La Frontera. Again both dishes were so vibrant in flavor and just triggers all those taste buds to wake up to experience some real Mexican food. FYI, it looks like management re-arranged the restaurant a bit… some observations: 1. The former front display counter with drinks has been updated with a much larger stand up slide cooler containing a wide variety of both standard american sodas, some really interesting Mexican sodas, and a variety of fresh juices. Let me tell you… get the Horchata drink! This milky white drink has a sturdy cinnamon and cardamon flavor and has a slightly milky texture too with just enough sweetness. It’s so refreshing and just cools your palette to enjoy more food… HIGHLY recommended! 2. Ordering area has been revamped to handle orders more efficiently with a large sign that says in large lettering«Order here». 3. It looks like they’ve switched from my one of my favorite hot sauces(Valentina) to Cholula hot sauce. 4. I noticed several new sous chefs to handle the increase in business. North of the Border continues to be one of my favorites!

Let me start by saying, the only reason there are four stars is because it was hot today, and it was warm inside too. The menu was very simple and easy to read, in English and in Spanish. The ladies at the counter were very helpful too. My friend ordered lingua, which is tongue tacos. I ordered chicken, I am not as adventurous as I thought I was. One of the specials on the menu was bunny rabbit enchiladas. The food was out fast, very good, served traditionally with limes and radishes. Three tacos with lots of chopped meat, red and green sauce. Top it off with Jarritos… Amazing lunch!

I can’t believe I’ve waited this long to try this place! It’s really delicious. We got take out and it still came with so much food well worth the money! The shrimp diabla is amazing if you like spicy food.

Amazing. Why is it that every traditional ethnic restaurant in a location where you wouldn’t expect good traditional ethnic food ends up being fantastic? Two of us ordered one burrito to share, having seen the size of said burrito. Then our eyes got bigger than our stomachs, and we decided we should order ‘just a bit more’. That«just a bit» ended up feeding us for several meals — all of them delicious.

We stumbled across this place by accident. A hole in the wall that serves home cooked Mexican food. Friend had the quesadilla al pastor, which she loved, and I tried vegetarian tostadas, which I scarfed down. The red salsa was one of the BEST I’ve had! We returned to this place for a second time. If I could, I would give this place an award for how good the food is! I got the vegetarian tostadas again – YUMMY! I also got the vegetarian gorditas, which were good too. Friend got a meat burrito.

There’s nothing fancy here! Just good food. It’s a tiny little place so you may or may not find a seat. One of the ways that you can tell that this place is the real thing is that they don’t serve chips and salsa. That is the food of lazy, fat Americans. The food here is authentic and for real Mexicans or for people who enjoy real Mexican food. I highly recommend checking out the specials on the board. They change every day and are based on what meats and vegetables were available at their supplier that day. Have a look at some of the photos I’ve posted of their food. There’s nothing like it here in the USA outside of some of the places in New Mexico or Arizona. On a recent visit, I ordered the Sopa de Mariscos or «seafood soup.» You can’t judge the scale from the photo, but the bowl is the size of a kitchen mixing bowl. The broth consisted of a red pepper based stock which was just spicy enough, but not too spicy. There must have been at least a dozen and a half shrimp which were very flavorful. I prefer them with the heads on, but the heads had been removed. In addition, there were mussels, large chunks of skinless fish fillet, oyster, squid, and probably more.
