Rick’s is a fun stop if you are in area but the prices are a bit to high. They do have a huge selection of most current candy as well as a bulk section and a make your own pixie stick station but there was nothing in here that I would consider rare or obscure for a candy hunter. Later in my road trip I stopped at Dylan’s Candy Bar in Manhattan and the prices at Rick’s were on par if not more expensive for the same items. I think the prices may need to be revisited for a small town in NJ.

Our experience here was terrible. From the window, the place looked like fun for my 3 year old, but when you enter be prepared for unpleasantness. There is a random cupcake bar with a bored looking teenager and mostly empty display case in the far corner. There is a giant TV with Spongebob blaring. This might be okay, but it is right over the counter person’s head, so it is really hard to communicate with the person taking your order. There is a lot of «WHAT? Did you say small?» etc. In fact, the person who took my order got it wrong and instead of a kid’s cup, my 3 year old got a GIANT cone. The ice cream is not frozen enough so it is melting by the time it is handed to you. My son was covered in seconds. The worst part is that the ceiling fans are blasting at full speed so napkins are blowing EVERYWHERE! Finally, we brought my elderly father with us. The only available seats are ice cream cone chairs made for kids. The minute he tried to lower himself into a chair, its poor design caused it to tip over, and he fell to the floor, flat on his back. While we all had a good laugh over this, we will NEVER return or recommend. Should have gone to the frozen yogurt place next door.

It’s like being a kid in a candy store. Literally! The purpose of my visit was to check out Mr. Cupcakes which is located inside Ricky’s. The candy store was big. They had a good selection of ice cream and CANDY! There’s lots of ice cream shaped seats to enjoy your sweets. I also saw some kind of party room in the back. I think this would be a cute place for a birthday party, but too much sugar could be disastrous. I have to be back when I’m craving sweets. Back to the cupcakes… We decided to check out Mr. Cupcakes because of their affordable prices… $ 1.50 for a «normal sized» cupcake and a huge variety of flavors! Their cupcakes look better in person(as opposed to in pictures on their website) and taste pretty damn good. The first cupcake I tried was the Oreo Cheesecake. The cake was a little dry but the frosting tasted like cheesecake, yummy. I was a bit apprehensive about the rest of the cupcakes, but OMG, they were divine. The French Toast cupcake tasted just like French Toast, the cake was moist, frosting had good ratio and wasn’t too sweet. The Tirimisu cupcake was delicious, not too coffee-ish like Tirimisu sometimes is. The Chocolate Peanut Butterful cupcake had a great combination of Chocolate to Peanut Butter. I didn’t eat all these cupcakes by myself, I had help from my fiancé though I wouldn’t mind scarfing them down! Overall, the 45 minute drive down to Red Bank was worth it. Shannon was very helpful with our cupcake decision and gave us information about Cupcake catering. She even offered to deliver the cupcakes for our special day(for a charge of course), which is pretty awesome. The two other cupcake bakeries that I went to didn’t offer this information; I had to ask them. So thanks Shannon! I’m definitely considering Mr. Cupcakes to provide my wedding cupcakes. They may not look as «pretty» or at first sight, but you’ll fall in love with them at first bite!

Really cute and brightly colored. ice cream, candy and now cupcakes. The people who work there are always nice when I just hang around the store for awhile.

I was lured into this cute little shop by the colorful posters in the window and the cute sign. I also saw something that said ‘Tart Frozen Yogurt’ so I had to go in to sample it… I saw every kind of candy you can imagine and I felt like a kid again in this candy store. Don’t get sidetracked, Gabi, you came for the tart fro yo… So, I went to the counter, walked around it looking for the soft serve frozen yogurt machine I was expecting to see. Hmmm — I didn’t see anything that resembled it. I asked the person behind the counter(who happened to be Steve, the owner) about the tart fro yo. He told me that their fro-yo was actually hard, not soft. Damn! Oh well, I sampled it anyways and was not impressed. They had strawberry and banana-strawberry. Conclusion: don’t go for the tart fro-yo… go for the candy selection. When I turned to leave, I smiled quietly as Steve said goodbye and told me to ‘stay sweet!’
