I’m not sure what I expected from a guest ranch. Maybe some kind of surly Jack Palance thing, with a lot of stringy steaks and stringier wranglers. But what I got instead was a great place to spend a few days with my husband and dogs: Amazing country, amazing (and healthy) meals, amazing staff that was friendly, knowledgeable, patient and hilarious. It’s the only pet-​friendly guest ranch I know of in Colorado, and even the dogs had a great time — and were welcomed, not just tolerated. One of the best getaways we’ve ever had.
