Special little place run by older husband and wife. One of those things that’s hard to put your finger on, but it’s just different from the rest. There is a lot of care that goes into their food and their service. I usually just go for the sashimi platter and add some sushi on. Also LOVE their ume shiso roll — their ume paste is always super fresh tasting. They also seem to have recently redesigned their menu! Looks good!

This is one of my favorite sushi places in the area. Everyone is very friendly, the service was excellent, food came out quickly and its always delicious! Bonus: it’s pretty inexpensive compared to other sushi places around!

Still my fave sushi place around. Nice atmosphere for dining in, don’t let the strip mall setting put you off. Super fresh and delicious sushi with prompt yet relaxed service.

The sushi is so good! This is the best sushi we’ve had in the Hudson Valley. The restaurant is inside if a strip mall, décor is pretty bad, but the sushi makes up for it all. The service was a little slow, but very friendly. We’ll definitely be back!

Hana is my idea of a no-frills sushi restaurant which still has charm. While it can be fun to order big fancy sushi combos delivered on fancy plates, or even fake boats, I’m really there for good, basic, tasty rolls. And on that, they do well. I went there with a friend on a Tuesday night. Tuesday is generally a slower night for restaurants, but by the time we were leaving, every table was full. It was being managed by one chef and one older woman, and it would not surprise me if they were a husband and wife and owners. Service was prompt and very friendly. The menu is very basic, with the more common rolls and combinations. That is not a problem for me at all. The prices seemed a little lower than other sushi restaurants, and I learned there are typically 6 pieces to a roll(many places give you 8), so that explains the difference, and the prices are reasonable. I ordered a large miso soup($ 1.95), and I was quite shocked at how much larger it was than regular — about twice the size — and only 45 cents more. Instead of a combo platter, I ordered individual rolls. My favorite was the Christmas roll. The wasabi was good, and soy sauce was absolutely not needed. My dining companion ordered the sashimi platter and was equally satisfied, if not more. She commented that it was rare for a sashimi platter to have 3 different types of tuna on it. My only negative here would be that it may be challenging to bring a larger group here for dinner, as the restaurant and number of tables are fairly small. For me, Hana is a great place to bring a small, intimate group for a great sushi dinner.

I really like this sushi place. It’s not too flashy and the food isn’t fake. If you’re looking for authentic Japanese food, this is the place to go. You won’t find the crazy modern sushi here but the classic good stuff that you wanna see in a menu. Service is good and the people are friendly. They’re actually Japanese. Authentic and sweet and comfortable. There tea is complimentary which I didn’t know, but I really appreciate it.

I’ve been coming here since 2002. I left bard in 2006 and haven’t had it since. Being that I went to Japan and live in nyc, it’s a bit hard to not be a slight sushi snob. With that said, this is hands down my favorite sushi restaurant in all of red hook. Even the chef has gotten older but his food is still good for upstate standards. I love how everything still looks the same. Love ordering the Fuji. I went when it was $ 30 a platter. Still a steal!

Hana sushi is 2 words. THEBEST. if your in the area you gotta go here for sushi. The sushi is super fresh and the price is the best part. I come here all the time also for take out and have never been disappointed! Also, if your looking for traditional Japanese sushi, hana is the place the go. The sushi is very traditional Japanese. If your looking for some awesome sushi without breaking the bank, go here. You wont be disappointed!

As suggested to me in a comment, I decided to write a review of Hana Sushi. When I first moved to this area years ago, I had never tried sushi. I tried it for the first time in college, and loved it! But being in college, I was never around to try Hana until I moved back home. Hana is not as pricey as other sushi places, and the menu is extensive and tasty. Also, I adore the specialty rolls! The Red Hook roll and the Volcano roll are amazing. One of the drawbacks is that the Philadelphia roll is made with cucumber, not avocado. I tend to enjoy this roll better with avocado, but avocado is more expensive so it makes sense to use cucumber instead. I’m also particular about this, so maybe it’s just me! The entrees are also unique and flavorful, and the bento boxes are great for the price. It’s one of the few Japanese places around, so it’s well worth it if you’re craving something along those lines.

Mediocre food. Sushi is fairly fresh but very unimaginative. Okay for a quick bite but far from great. Service is fair at best.

Hands down the best Japanese restaurant in the area and my absolute favorite during college. If I had a sushi craving and they were closed, I just made my own food, didn’t even bother going to a different sushi place. My best friends and I would’ve eaten here every day if we could. First, the staff here is SO friendly. The waitresses are always warm and friendly, even when the restaurant is packed to the gills. The lovely boss lady always greeted us with a smile whenever we came for our takeout order and told me personally she would miss us dearly when we graduated. The chefs are also really interesting to talk to, if you sit at the sushi bar! Service was usually efficient, unless they were super busy, but even then, the servers usually came by to check in on us, refill drinks, etc. The sushi here was always good, something I can’t say for the other Japanese restaurants in the area. My favorites were the shrimp tempura roll — it was always crispy and delicious — and the yellowtail scallion roll. The prices here are also the most affordable: for dinner, I usually got their combo roll dinner — 3 rolls of your choice, soup and salad for only $ 10 — or their sushi dinner, which was 7 – 8 pieces of sushi with soup and salad for like $ 12. Plus shumai with mustard and soy sauce. YUM! Of all the restaurants I visited during my college days, this is probably the place I miss the most. What I would do to have an order of their shrimp tempura roll right now!

Love this place! Really good prices for some really delicious food. Their food is always fresh, sushi, chicken teriyaki, tempura, desserts, you name it and its always served fresh. They have a great selection. They have tons of different rolls, good entrees, and a good dessert menu. They have good lunch and dinner specials. You can get a entrée with 3 different rolls, shumai, soup and salad. The staff is ALWAYS friendly. Out of all my restaurant experiences, I think the staff here has been the best. They are down to earth, cozy place that has quality food at good deals.

Best value sushi restaurant in the area, fresh ingredients nice menu with traditional and modern items prepared skillfully by the owner. Every time here is a pleasure and the menu is large enough to keep you busy for quite a few visits and don’t skip the specials board. If you haven’t been here yet give it a chance it may swiftly become your favorite Sushi place!

My favorite sushi place in the rhinebeck-redhook area. There are three — this one has the best overall vibe and experience to me. Modest atmosphere, good food. easy.
