I’ve already written a few reviews about wedding vendors from my wedding in Brooklyn. My wedding day reviews ranged from the highs of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden(cheers!) and the lows of the Brooklyn Sheraton(jeers!). To my chagrin, it’s two-and-a-half years after our wedding and I was going through old emails when I found an email exchange with my newlywed bride where we both exchanged rave reviews about Kerry Quade, our wedding florist. I promised my wife that I’d write a review online and well, better late than never. I’m kind of surprised that there isn’t already a Unilocal listing for her but I’m guessing it’s because she gets enough word-of-mouth business that she doesn’t need extra publicity. But I hope she doesn’t mind that I’ll give it to her anyway! My wife loves the color blue, and if she had her way, all the bouquets at the wedding would have been bluer than Violet Beauregard. But Ms. Quade gently worked with her and helped her understand that since everything else at the wedding reception(tablecloths, bridesmaid dresses, ties) would be blue, the flowers should complement them. Long story short, the flowers turned out gorgeously – I don’t know how she did it, but the centerpieces, bouquets, and boutonnieres all turned out wonderfully. The bride’s bouquet was especially stunning, a bouquet of pretty light-colored roses and orchids with hints of blue tweedia. I think I mentioned in other reviews that the two of us were perhaps the most clueless couple in history, and yet Kerry worked with The Palm House behind the scenes perfectly without either of us even needing to do anything. She even accommodated last minute requests without missing a beat. We decided a few days before the wedding that we wanted a «wish tree» for guests to write and hang their wishes and lo and behold, there on the day of our wedding there was a table with a centerpiece of a birch tree with branches, blank cards, and Sharpies. We asked at the last minute for presentation bouquets for our families, and she delivered. Even without us asking, she created stunning flowers for the bride’s hair during the reception. I also appreciated that she was able to work within our budget, which I’m sure was lower than a lot of other people who have their weddings at the Palm House. And yet not once did we feel that we weren’t getting all that we paid for and much more.
