Sonic has awesome chili dogs and tots as well as shakes. This is the only Sonic in the York area but it is worth the drive. I have never had an order that was wrong here and the food is Sonic, did I mention the awesome chili dogs and tots? If you can get here for happy hour, that is the best time to get your drink fix on. Sour grape slushies or strawberry milkshakes anyone? Check out the $ 2.00 daily deals. Saturday is two corndogs with tots and Monday is a foot long chili dog with tots.

Good luck getting a working drive in spot to park your car. Tried four spots and drove off. Not very busy at 12:30 on a weekend. Now I know why.

Firstly, this place needs to solve their turnaround problem. I rarely see the same people from week to week. Which is a big reason why they are so slow! Second, they need to hire one person who makes all the food and that is their only job or do a better job at training people to stick to the standards when making food and drinks. Example: I love the cherry vanilla coke. I get a rt 44 every chance I can get. They always taste different. One cherry, six cherries, no vanilla flavor, or so much cherry flavoring it tastes like cough syrup. Third, make up your mind on the half price drinks. It’s a 50⁄50 chance if I have to pay for the second flavoring. Fourth, the food isn’t the best. Which is why I’ll go somewhere more expensive and get better food.

Only thing good about this place are the drinks and the hot dogs. Food other than that is sub-par, they’re slow slow slow. I’ve ordered a drink and sat in line for 15 minutes waiting for it. If you’re not going for a drink I’d stay away from this place.

I went there once and couldn’t figure how anything works. I just drove away. I considered going back with someone else but no one will go.

Hands down one of if not my favorite fast food restaurant. They are not fine dining obviously but their variety is unmatched. Cherry limeade is my go to favorite but they have a ridiculous amount of drink choices. Their onion rings are made with hand cut onions. They have tater tots(my boys favorite) also. They also have enough desserts to put Dairy Queen to shame!

Great milkshakes and I love the cherry limeades. Service takes a bit longer than one would expect, but the ingredients are fresh and they are making things to order.

I love Sonic for its nostalgic«drive-in» feel and classic American staples. I have even been known to stop simply because it’s «Happy Hour»(2pm-4pm daily) and I can get a huge cherry limeade for just over $ 1. However, and this is a BIG however, you better hope you don’t have plans when stopping at this specific location. As stated in another review, there are never more than 1 or 2 employees in the entire establishment, causing your wait time to be 15+ minutes for something as simple as 2 ice cream sundaes. The often adolescent staff is also quite impolite, once returning to our car to retrieve the coupon they forgot(rude). The only reason I bumped them up to two stars is for the recent effort to boost sales by offering daily schedules via a monthly calendar. However, this still doesn’t make up for the less than sufficient service and disappearance of peanut butter sundaes from the menu.

Okay, so we like Sonic’s concept of park and eat. And we like just about everything we’ve tried from the menu. The Chicago dog… so good. Breakfast burritos are also better than you’d expect from a fast food place. The problem with this particular location is that they are so. dang. slow. Maybe the manager/owner is trying to save money by running the place with a really small crew… it shows. Last time we waited about 15 minutes for our order(2 kids meals, a breakfast burrito and 2 Chicago dogs – hardly a demanding order). And when the person brought it out, he didn’t apologize or acknowledge the long wait even a little. There were only 2 other cars there at the time, so it’s not like business was hopping – that would have been understandable. This long wait with no acknowledgement is pretty common. It’s gotten to the point where my sons, ardent Sonic fans, don’t want to go there anymore, because it always takes too long. In short: We are fans of Sonic, but definitely don’t go to this location if you’re in a hurry.

Sonic is a fast food drive-thru. As such, don’t expect the holy grail. That said, their burgers are pretty good. Although there is a tendency to put too much stuff on them(lettuce, tomatos, sauce, etc, etc). That it can leave the burger swamped. Other plusses include less common fast food /fun fare(ie: corn dogs, tater tots, hot dogs). These are items not as common at most fast food joints. Route 44 cranberry limeade is an excellent deal. Especially during ½ price happy hours. Downsides, in the past year Sonic has systematically eliminated a number of our family’s favorite items. This includes the real apple juice slushy. It was so nice to have a place where I could get the kids a 100% juice drink that they really wanted. Apple juice slushies rocked. What were you THINKING? They also got rid of peanut butter milkshakes. Seriously? I am afraid of saying what my favorite Sonic items remaining are lest they drop those from the menu as well. :-|

The food explains why Sonic never appears busy. The burger I had actually wasn’t terrible, but was a pretty standard burger – I must say it was a step up from McDonalds or Burger King. However, the fries were definitely a step down from either aforementioned establishment. Spend a dollar or two more and go to Five Guys. If you are in LA, stick with In N Out.

Just attempting to order your food here is incredibly aggravating. Order takers will make multiple attempts to up-size your order. Anything that lists«ketchup, mayo, OR mustard» means that regardless of whether they ask or whether you tell, you are getting 1, 2, or all 3 condiments at random. Even the simplest of meals such as a #1 w/tots and a coke will be screwed up 90% of the time. This is no exaggeration. If you ask for a burger combo such as the #1 they will try to confirm it as a #1 w/everything w/cheese(up-sell attempt). If you try to correct them by saying you want ketchup and mayo w/no cheese you will get a plain burger w/ketchup and mayo on a bun. That’s right, they will automatically leave out the lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and onions. So you either have to eat a burger with EVERYTHING on it or you have to list out every burger ingredient and pray that it is made right. This is in contrast w/Mcdonalds where you just say you want a #1, and then they put it in a bag and you pay for it. Pros: breakfast all hours lots of shake/malt/chiller/coffee type drink varieties Cons: you will probably not get the correct order(90% fail rate) speaker volume at the drive-in stalls is set to SONICBLAST level car hops may fall into your car while bringing food strangely there is no «small» size listed on the menu sodas are max filled with crushed ice most burger/sandwich items have to be ordered Subway style POORMANAGEMENT

Our first time at Sonic. New, clean, easy to figure out menu. Server was polite and fast. There were only 2 cars there. Cheeseburger was below McDonalds quarter pounder. Chicken sandwich was good. We liked the fries, milkshake & cherry tea. might make the 35 mile trip again when it’s a lot warmer.
