My favorite grill steaks are too good to last. Noticed in April or beginning of May that the tender cuts steaks went up $ 1 a pound(to 8.99) & I still bought my regular 12 steaks for the month. Returned June 1 to buy 12 more steaks and noticed they went up another $ 1/lb(to 9.99) …I’m out, no longer a fan. Two $ 1/lb increases in roughly 2+ months? That’s just not cool. The meatheads employee cited«beef prices going way up» ! I call BS ! I did not get anything there this time and instead bought some thick ribeyes from the grocery store for 8.99/ lb… chuck shoulder clod steaks for $ 9.99/ lb is ridiculous when I can get the tasty thick ribeyes for $ 8.99/lb

Ordered a fresh Turkey for Thanksgiving and now, a Turducken. I think they made it just for me – delish! Perfect chicken with small amount of duck and no roll of fatty skin, like some do, then topped off with delicious turkey. They did suggest a bag, so I used one, difficult to cook all that meat without too dry turkey and not done chicken and duck. Worked fantastic. Slow cooked for 6 hours and it was melt in your mouth. Their stuffing was good as it gets, I think the best I’ve had(or made) in years. Each layer was perfectly seasoned and stuffed with perfect stuffing. Veggies/celery and a little sausage I think(?) Whatever it was, fantastic! I think everyone knows the quality of the meat and homemade brats are out of this world. Won’t find that near or far, but you should check out the turducken next Christmas! They did a super job on a cajun classic! Oh and one more thing– that meat seasoning they have there that is around town is also the best across the US. Worth a drive!

You’re really in Minnesota now, boy. My better half mentioned that she noticed Meathead’s Deli offered gyros. Knowing I like gyros we went there for lunch and ordered them. $ 4.50 each, no sides. I was interested to know how they made their Greek yogurt sauce, because making an authentic version(Tzatziki) can be a little tricky. I was looking forward to trying it. The gyro comes in a small hotdog Styrofoam container. I ordered my sauce on the side and was hungry so I put some on my gyro and began to eat it. Odd things were happening in my mouth as I chewed. ‘What the hell is this?‘ I looked down and inspected things a little closer and was aghast to see that on these gyros, instead of an actual Greek yogurt, Meatheads uses MAYONNAISE. Yes. A huge glop of Mayo. Same thing on my wife’s gyro. I sat there and silently cursed small town Minnesota and its clear and present inability to think outside the Stoffers box. Mayo on a gyro. Only in Red Wing. I threw it away.

This is a great place! So many options: Dine in/Take out. They have some of the best cuts of meat in town. Great deli foods and odds n ends. The do have frozen seafoods. My favorite? The KING scallops. They are huge and I love cooking with them. If I want to see a huge smile on my husbands face? I buy a couple of their really thick steaks and grill them. They also offer great seasoned rubs that are ideal for traditional BBQ or several varieties of some darn good BBQ sauces. Give this place a try. It can be pricey for certain items but the freshness can’t be matched. You will get hooked like I did. =)

This place seems to be the king of Wee Willy’s BBQ sauce. I stopped in for one of their sandwich’s and it was tasty. I ordered the Philly and they asked if I wanted bbq sauce? Needless to say I declined. The sandwich was full of meet with the onions and peppers being done just right. The bread it came on was light and fresh and gotta say, it was a decent rendition of a Philly. They also had all sorts of other things available. Definitely worth a stop if you are in the neighborhood. Their butcher counter also seemed reasonably priced.
