Sublime Cake Design

Here Is the thing. If you order anything «custom» from any where, it Is going to have a significant cost increase. That is just the nature of the beast. Custom jobs require that you start from absolutely nothing and end up with something. Point being, cost should be the last thing you consider when ORDERING A CUSTOM CAKE.
With this in mind, we went into Sublime cake design with a few vague outlines, and they created an amazing custom cake for my sons birthday. Ordering the cake was a snap as Wiley is a good artist that can sketch out an idea on demand, as well as a great communicator.
The cake and cupcakes we ordered were colorful and extremely imaginative. Each cup cake had a different monster face, and sure enough, hardly any looked alike. They took the time to make each one as individual as possible. That is a sign that someone takes their craft seriously.
The cake and cupcakes were moist and extremely delicious. The frosting was soft and didn’t taste like pure sugar and tooth decay.
This is the spot you go to when you need a great cake. In the end, the prices were fair and way more affordable than the Sacramento area while still being a superior tasting product.

Extremely disappointing.
Wylie told my husband and I that our request to do a wedding cake with us sitting on a tree wouldn’t be too hard for him, we even drew a picture of exactly what we wanted. He called the day before he started making the cake and assured me that the cake would be great. We picked up the cake and were immediately disappointed. The cake was air brushed a rock gray with two logs on the side of it. Had Wylie told me that this would be the outcome of our cake I would have told him just a plain cake would be better. But there was no hint of it being unsuccessful. After our wedding (which was on a day he would be out of town) we called him and he reimbursed us with 2 dozen cupcakes of our choice, but when we picked them up they just sat them on the counter, no apology for ruining our wedding cake– which cost $ 400.
I would never recommend Sublime Cake to anyone.

I absolutely Love their cupcakes! The icing has perfect texture and flavor. the cake is wonderfully moist. Their creative flavors are enjoyable. Absolutely Beautifully decorated. some even with sparkle. Love it! One of the Best parts of Sublime Cake experience is how friendly they are. THE best customer experience by far of Any business in Redding. Wiley always has a friendly smile and happily greets you. I haven’t ordered their amazing cake designs yet. I look forward to an occasion where I can. We Highly recommend their cupcakes for ANY occasion !!

Ordered a cake for my boyfriends birthday. The frosting was great. Not a bite was wasted. Usually picky about cakes since I am a good baker, but it was excellent. Only negative the building is so funky, kinds hard to tell if they are really in business.

I can’t say enough good things about them. From the moment I walked in I knew I had made the correct choice. They w ed re very easy to work with and designed the perfect cake for my daughters 13^th birthday. I highly recommend them.

Hands down. Best cupcakes ever! We’ve tried pretty much all flavones. Cake is yummy and moist. Frosting are fresh and not over powering.

Just ok, Wiley is very good, nice & pleasant! My 1^st 2 orders, cake & cupcakes were screwed up, I was nice but annoyed. Gave me a coupon for a dozen free cupcakes… Really? The owner Jackie New kinda hid out in back when I came in 2 pick up my orders that they «forgot» to make. Never came out to apologize! U also have to order months in advance or they can’t do it… I think they’re more interested in their appearance on a TV show than their business in Redding. Tried «Cake is the Best Part» bakery & they were good, nice alternative!

Sublime just created a construction themed cake for my sons 3^rd birthday. I was hesitant at first because I had a place I went to for 4 years who made our specialty cakes including our wedding cake. I saw Sublimes website online and I am so happy I did. The cake was AMAZING!!! Not just was the design amazing but the taste was phenominal. They were so friendly when we ordered, and he created exactly what we had in mind. They are who we will go to from now on.

My fiancé got my birthday cake from Wiley in the exact image of my beloved pug Harvey. It was amazing and was made of the most moist and delicious marble cake and buttercream frosting. I ve had some cake in my time and this is by far the best. You can’t go wrong with a Sublime Cake. Thanks Wiley.

I’ve had cupcakes all over the country and this place truly takes the cake! I’ve been to cupcake places with amazing frosting and others with amazing cake and normally I am drawn to the ones with the best frosting. Sublime had nailed both the cake and the frosting and you definitely will not be disappointed. The Cloud 9 is one of the best cupcakes I’ve ever had.
I almost forgot to mention, these are also the cheapest cupcakes I’ve ever seen. Anywhere else and they could easily charge $ 1 – 1.50 more.

Was given a doz mini cupcakes today as a very suprising bday gift from a very sweet woman who works at Urban Retreat! Ive lived in redding for a little over 2 yrs, –and ive NEVER heard of this bakery. All the diff flavors were very tasty and the little cakes were very flavorful and moist!, Will definatly give them my business in the future! Loved the deco’s which were all diff! If you are looking for something whimsical for a party i wud reccomend them! Thanks G for making my birthday more special !! You are a very special lady !!

My cake and cupcakes turned out AWESOME and exactly as I wanted. Wiley is so compassionate about his work. There was at no time during my wedding planning that I ever had a doubt or was concerned about his abilities because he just put my mind at ease every time I talked to or got an email from him. Oh yeah, and the cakes actually taste good! I ‘ve been to so many weddings where the cakes look good but taste awful! Not the case here! Sublime Cake Design is awesome all around. Thank you Wiley for helping to make my dream wedding come true!

My wife got me a cake here for my 30^th birthday. It was the coolest cake I’ve ever seen — Han Solo, frozen in carbonite, with one of my favorite lines from Star Wars:
Leia: I love you.
Han: I know.
It was also delicious, like all the other cakes/​cupcakes we’ve had at Sublime.
Beyond all that, they made a great monkey cake for my daughter’s first birthday.
¹⁰⁄₁₀ would eat cake again.

We used Sublime for our wedding cake, a tiered cupcake design with a larger cupcake topper. The display was beautiful, the cakes were excellent, and our guests raved about the whole thing. We were incredibly happy we chose Sublime Cake Design for our special day.

As a foodie, I am very finicky about cakes, especially frosting. After several orders of cupcakes and cakes, I can safely say my expectations have always been met and then some. Wiley is a true talent! Not only is his art work exquisite, the taste and quality are incredible. We always buy extra because guests beg for more. We have been impressed so much so we also use Sublime Gift Certificates for corporate client gifts. Our clients have been very happy with their cupcakes and are already wanting more. A great company with excellent service that is truly sublime!

Excellent artistry! The frosting on their cake is so smooth it looks like fondant. Great piping skills too. They are excellent at pairing cake with filling/​frosting flavor.
The buttercream is average.

Maybe its just me, but my only two times I have ordered cakes from there they have turned out nothing like how we wanted. The first one was my friends birthday cake and the alignment was very off. The whole cake was lopsided. Then for my sisters baby shower, we ordered another cake and it turned out looking very nice but the buttercream frosting was not tasty at all. It tasted like Crisco. we ended up throwing out more than half the cake. The place is pretty expensive and I probably wont be buying anymore cakes from them.

This is a belated review but I wanted to make sure to let everyone know how much I love this place! They were my choice for my wedding and will be my choice for any event in need of sweets in the future. This place is fantastic. Very MOIST cake, which i have found to be rare in redding! Love the couple that runs it too, they gave me a couple cupcakes in our flavors for our anniversary :) I highly recommend them for an event! their artistry and technique is amazing. Or even just a cupcake on a special day. :)

This place is fantastic. I have only ordered the cupcakes and ordered them for special events at work quite a few times now. The employees are super friendly and if there is anything that they make that isn’t in the case you only have to ask for them to be made and it takes about 5 minutes.
If you have a sweet tooth and would like a decadent little snack this place is great. Give it a try, you won’t regret it. My favorites are the red velvet and the cherry cordial.
