This beach is wide enough so it doesn’t feel crowded even during peak season, but not so wide its a chore to get from the parking lot to the shoreline. Fine soft sand which many like but with the tradeoff that its harder to walk on than coarse hard packed sand. It has the standard Pinellas Beach Park facilities, two outdoor beach showers, decent restrooms, and a kiosk where you pay for parking! There is a limited amount of free on-street parking. Using it in season requires arriving early and knowing how to parallel park quickly on the first try… Gulf Boulevard have a fair amount of traffic in this area. The only significant fault of this beach park is the area of shore line closest to the parking lot is roped off and the water filled with large rocks that prevent swimming. So when walking from the parking area to the beach it is necessary to angle a bit to the left or right if water access is desired. A positive is that there is a small playground a block or so north of the parking lot. And I love the sand is soft on most of the beach near the water line is hard enough to make strolling the beach easy. The area isn’t super commercialized but there is decent variety of businesses nearby for food and drink. If you don’t get one of the limited number of free parking spots, the lot charge is I believe $ 1.50 an hour which is mid range for pay parking along the barrier islands. Overall a nice beach. Slightly better than the Tiki Gardens Access Park a bit of the north if you can live with the roped off area. But parking at at Tiki Gardens is only $ 1 an hour. Madeira Beach to the south is narrower and has more people along with more business variety. But then, beaches aren’t one size fits all.
