Redlands Underground

Cheap «whatever» beer selection (equivalent to a fourteen year old’s «parents away bash), very dive-​e fun place to be with friends. But…
«Bartenders» professionalism is out the door; They can not handle a request for management, when obviously they cannot handle a situation. Attitude and irritable physical mannerisms is what you will receive.
Like the atmosphere and cheap off-​the-​bottle beers. but when upstairs *cough* «The District» — Offers affordable premium drinks, a great selection of on tap beers and has live artists. It is the obvious choice to stick above ground. (Asides the other great «nightlife» bars to hit in Redlands)
It is blatantly obvious the crowd that is responsible for busting up the communal bathroom and pissing all over the the floor in the restrooms is this establishments daily’s. Coming from a middle-​class San Bernardinian, we know a urinal cake of a facility when we live with an ubiquitous selection of establishments. Glad to hear this place is closing. Hopefully a worthy investor takes advantage of its potential and brings active talent; Seems like The District has potential for expansion.

I’ve been coming here for probably 6 years. I can’t think of a night out in Redlands where we didn’t always end up at the Underground. If you didn’t know the people there and you weren’t a part of a group people that frequented this establishment then you probably are one of those people that thought this was a really crappy place to go. Well, wet bathroom floors, rickety and leaky ceilings aside this place was really something else. We came for the curiosity so many years ago and then we stayed for the grungy no-​expectations atmosphere. It was always hot in the summer and in the winter inside when it got crowded. No one really knows if the A/​C ever worked at all but, all of these things were part of the experience. You don’t come here for a 5 star club experience you come to see your friends, sing karaōke poorly, and have a great time with strangers in an almost family setting.
I say this with a heavy heart that I believe this landmark is finally going to be closed for good. I didn’t know if it was true but, last week I was in the neighborhood and there was a notice on the door stating a 30 day notice. I have also found out that the underground is coming under new ownership and not allowed any of the previous bartenders to stay, which also blows. Well, nothing lasts forever and I hope this review illuminated the reasons why people come here and the reasons why the normies leave disappointed.
PS I hope the bartenders find a new home soon.

The feeling of this place from the moment you walk in is just inviting.
The food is even better always served to you fast and friendly service with a smile. A must see for yourself.

Very small but still cozy. The drinks are good and all of the employees are polite. Saturday’s are super fun because that is karaōke night! The location is convenient to other bars and restaurants downtown and it isn’t too far from my house which is awesome because I don’t have to worry about parking ever! The bathroom is a little messy later in the night but I am still giving five stars because I know that is the irresponsibility and disrespect of other guests, not the business. I am reading a lot of negative reviews about The Underground and I can say 100% that I have not had a single problem here. I will continue to come here for karaōke and good drinks and I will eventually order from the kitchen too!

I really liked this place the first time I went on a Thursday night. I wrote an odd review before because the website asked for off the wall reviews, lol guess they don’t update the website enough. :(oh well still like the place.

The environment is pretty cool. The area around the bar is very dirty. Bar top is filthy, and the bartenders do NOT know how to make drinks. I ordered a vodka red bull and watched the guy poor vadka and mix it with rockstar. I proceeded to tell the the heavy set bartender that i am alergic to rockstar and he tells me that «redbull is too expensive» lol «and that the owner only has the redbull sign because he thinls its cool» lol wow just wow

I love the underground. The food is yummy and whoever their cool is makes it yummy. The drinks and bartenders are the best. Yes it’s a dive bar, but it’s clean and reasonable. It’s fun!

Yes it’s divey but a dive bar at it’s best. If you get the privilege of having Jason as a bartender you are in for a treat!!! He’s amazing you will want for nothing. Love this place it’s a Redlands Classic!

This place is the most horrible place in Redlands. The atmosphere sucks and the service is not just nonexistent but they will actually go out of their way to make sure you are insulted.
I went there with my girl friend and we waited by the bar for 20 mins for a drink. The bartender obviously had a favorite section of the bar because when I asked someone who was seated there if he ever came over they said they hadn’t been served a drink in over 15 mins. Finally we decided to move over to the side of the bar where the bartender was serving and tried to get his attention but it was actually as if he didn’t want to be bothered. Finally I said «Hey bro, we’ve been waiting for almost half an hour for a drink.» The guy then started mocking me, repeating what I said in baby talk. We left after that. We’d been there 45 mins and couldn’t get a drink and was mocked when I dared say something.
I have no idea how this hole is still in business. You can tell by their Unilocal pic how they feel about how their customers feel. I will never go back to this place and I strongly urge everyone I know to never go whenever I get the chance.

I usually head to LA because of the much better and livelier bar scene than the bar scene in Redlands. Not sure anything in this city can compare to LA. Had never been to the Underground and based on some of the responses that the owner had posted on Unilocal in response to reviewer’s posts, it really made me want to avoid this place. However, I shopping in downtown Redlands and a friend wanted a drink. We ended up coming here. Our drinks were pretty watered down and it was freaking hot inside. I was not impressed and will stick with The Vault as my drinking place in Redlands.

Pretty cool place just because its underground. Other than that, its whatever. Typical Redlands bar to be honest. It does get a bit hot down here as it gets packed with tons of people. Weird people in here as well and the demographic ranges from young adults to roughly 50 year olds. Check it out simply because its underground but other than that there are better bars in Redlands.

The absolute worst place to get a drink in Redlands. This place is terrible. Absolutely horrible customer service. I purchased a drink and the lady behind the counter was still giving me a hard time about going to the restroom.

I wish they would put a little effort into their bar, it could be nice but it lacks fun, charisma and good times… Sigh

Hands down this is the worst place to get a drink in Redlands. Its hotter than hell and it takes 20 mins to get a drink. DO NOT COME HERE.

Terrible. Stood at the bar for 15 minutes before either bar tender acknowledged me, then paid way to much for a lemon drop with hardly any vodka in it.

The place is haunted, probably by the spirits (yes there are many) of the tranny strippers that used to frequent the place.
Oh, and there is the ghost of a dude in a blue jumpsuit that likes to watch girls pee.
The owner encourages that behavior by giving out free drinks after being flashed by only women with DD breasts. I would have given it 0 stars, but it wouldn’t let me.

I came here for an art show and my friend’s band was playing. it was my first time here and first Downtown Redlands bar.
The layout is kinda cool; you first need to go downstairs to go to «underground» and when you are there, you can tell it has a very casual feel to it. Not classy, but a very home-​y and comfortable place where friends can catch up over burgers and beer. The have sofas around the place, some tables here and there, and the main bar in the middle, which is the first thing you see when you go down the stairs.
I generally hate it when bars has one single bathroom… and yes this place is one of them.
Other than that, this place is kinda neat, I would come here if I wanted to go to a super chill and casual place with friends over burgers and beer… but if you want to go to a good DTR bar with good drinks and a good vibe, I would suggest the Vault nearby.

If you are looking for a real life Cheers then this is your place. I personally am not which is why I rated it a two.
This is a jeans and t shirt kinda place, and I had on a dress and heels… so I got started on the wrong foot. I typically like to be dazzled with décor when drinking, and this ain’t the place. I only had one drink and wasn’t quite drunk enough to enjoy the girl murdering the karaōke song. She was awful, lol, but she was having a blast.
If you are low key this is your place. I’m more over the top… a must see though if you are bar hopping.
