Just moved here to the Seattle area from Boulder. Like CO there’s many CF gym options out here. I checked out Acuo CF and had a chance to meet the owners Dan & Steve the first day. Great guys and a great feel to the gym. Seems to be a great community the handful of times I’ve been. Dan is a very thoughtful coach. The emphasis there is safety, form & health which are important attributes for me (very much like my home gym in CO.) I’m looking forward to being a part of the Acuo community.

It took the husband over a year to get me in the front door, and almost 8 months to talk me into trying a WOD. My ego got the best of me, and I really thought I was going to throw down on him. 12min later he was laughing while I rolled around on the floor trying to get my legs to work again. Not even the most brutal track workouts have left me that sore, so I came back the next day a little more humble but ready to work.
Dan and Steve have put countless hours into making Acuo what it is, and it shows. The programming is smart, intense, and safe. You have to choose how hard to work each time you’re in there, but every workout sets you up for success.
What really makes this gym special is the community– every single person in the gym wants to you succeed. They care. They compete with you, not against you. People show up with their families for BBQs, parties, or just Friday nights. Its the best sort of environment to not just work out in, but to hang out in.
Also there’s a shower. And two bathrooms. Just sayin’.

I’ve heard fears about crossfit gyms before, and how they’re too interested in speed and not enough in form, and how that causes people to get hurt, or at least increases the chance of it.
This is not one of those places. Form is the single most important thing in this gym. The coaches don’t care how much you can lift, not even a little. They care that your form is right. Every session, every workout is described if it’s your first time, or redescribed if it’s not. You will have good form, and they check everyone before they get into it. I feel safe here.
The other huge thing about this place is the community. It feels like every practice, the coach, and the other people there are interested in how I’m doing, we’re all interested in the well-​being of each other, really. It feels like an awesome community.
If you’re looking for a crossfit gym, or even a gym at all and are willing to give the varied exercises that crossfit provides a chance, I cannot recommend this place enough. A truly wonderful experience.

If you’re looking for an awesome workout + a welcoming community — this is the place for you. Dan and Steve know their stuff and are always encouraging me and challenging me — which I love. I originally tried out Acuo because of their varied class schedule. I’ve stayed at Acuo because of that + the atmosphere and incredible training I receive every time I’m there. I’d recommend Acuo to anyone that wants more intensity and variety in their workout and get introduced to a rad community of people.

You want a welcoming place, come check this gym out. Dan offers great advice and eases in beginners, class times are great, it’s not too busy but you’ll get a great sense of how great the community is from one visit. Time for you to get in shape, come on out!

I have visited a large number of gyms across the country, and Acuo CrossFit is my favorite place to drop in at. I have been doing crossfit for a few years, and I am a crossfit level 1 trainer, so I have had a range of training experiences, and aside from my home gym (
), there is no place that I would rather go. Acuo CrossFit does everything the right way.
The coaches are excellent — they prioritize mechanics and moving well, and they have a great eye for correcting movements. Coaches are also willing to provide tailored feedback and help when they see growth opportunities. They emphasize growth and progress, and they do so in an educated and constructive fashion. They know what they are doing.
The coaches (and members) are also incredibly welcoming — even though I only drop in periodically when I’m in town for work, they make me feel like a regular.
Overall, it’s an excellent gym, and it provides an excellent experience. I would recommend it to any type of athlete — beginner or competition-​level.

Hubby and I were in town visiting friends for a short weekend last August. The friends are in great shape, I’d been exercising faithfully again for a few weeks to a month, hubby… weeeell, not so much. Took hubby to a Crossfit in Palm Desert, CA where we’re from a couple weeks prior and we almost needed an urgent care visit. :(So, I think he was a little hesitant when we geared up for another round of crossfit. We were both very impressed with Acuo Cross Fit in comparison, and wish we lived in Kirkland to hang with friends and become members of this gym! It’s very clean, in a great location, well organized, has positive vibes, and Dan was awesome at encouraging and giving tips on form when needed. Good people here that know what they’re doing! The kids love their hang out spot inside the gym too while mommy and daddy get their sweat on! You HAVE to try this gym! Thank you Dan, Lindsey & Justin for a fab time! Miss you all!

Over my crossfit experiences I’ve dropped into a few exceptional box, and I can definitely say Acuo is another box to add to the «exceptional» list. I dropped into Acuo Crossfit while I was up visiting Redmond, I had previously been emailing with Dan who said to come on by when I had time. Some boxes are very rigid with their drop in schedule, they want you to identify exactly what class you’ll be at, and how many days you’ll be there (for good reason, they run their own schedule), but Acuo is not like that, Dan told me to come in whenever– they didn’t even charge me a drop in!
I was greeted by Steve, who I take it co-​owns the place with Dan. It was immediately apparent that Steve was a seasoned crossfit coach with a deep base of knowledge. He ran the class extremely effectively, did a great demo of all movements for the class, and was constantly giving pointers to everyone during the metcon.
Facility was beautiful, you could feel the community, and they had great, mostly rogue, equipment. If I’m back in Redmond, I’ll definitely be swinging through!

Awesome box. I’ve tried several others across the Seattle metro area after relocating to the west coast, finally stumbling across Acuo after a Bing search and decided to give it a try.
Dan and Steve are awesome coaches, and have a great programming methodology. They are excellent at getting you to push yourself yet are extremely conscious about not physically breaking you. My experience is that all kinds of people work out there, from regional games contenders to folks just looking to be healthier.
They have a well organized, spacious facility and a large variety of well maintained equipment. They also have a small kids area so they can play safely without getting squished by falling weights. Want to just come in, sweat, and leave? They have a very accommodating class schedule. On top of that they regularly have events like BBQs and even hosted their own community competition. Rumor has it that Dan will also make coffee for you if asked nicely.

Crossfit isn’t dangerous… obesity, heart disease and diabetes are dangerous!
When I decided to look for a crossfit gym, I visited several around the Kirkland and Redmond area. I didn’t realize just how different they all are until I’d spent a fair amount of time in them. When I walked into Acuo, however, it was a completely different experience — the members greeted me before the coaches did!
Walking into a gym is intimidating because, let’s be honest, usually when we’re «getting back into the swing of things» we’re not exactly at our peak of performance… which, for me, meant I rolled in there with about 30 more pounds than I wanted to have. I was slow, got tired quickly, and couldn’t lift nearly what others people could… but, in contrast to other gyms, that didn’t matter here. This isn’t a fake community — they really care.
The coaches, Steve and Dan, are exceptional. All the «crossfit is dangerous» stuff seemed to be managed by excellent coaching that pushes you hard enough to get what you need from a workout but not to the point of injury. Form is stressed over going heavier and heavier, which is what I experienced at other gyms.
They also have loads of community events and, since joining, I’ve made life long friends. I love it at Acuo and will be a customer for a very long time. Given the low turn over of members, I know I’m not the only one who feels that way.
Just try Acuo Crossfit… you’ll like it.

I stopped in to Acuo CrossFit when I was visiting Redmond for work. There facility is nice and big, and I was really impressed with the quality of coaching. Our coach was very concerned about each individual athlete and how they were feeling that day. He even made sure that we had all eaten prior to coming in! Anyway, I had a great experience and would definitely go back if I’m ever in the Redmond area again.

Acuo Crossfit is an amazing place. Steve and Dan are the owners. Their love for fitness and helping others achieve their goals is evident in everything they do. They make working out fun and safe for each person. I love that the workouts are different everyday. I defiantly have seen a lot of improvement in myself and the other members of the gym. its pretty exciting to see.
We love the community that Dan and Steve has created. We have made tons of new friends. They have lots of BBQ’s, charity events and other activities that really make Acuo more than just a gym.

Life changing experience! Acuo CrossFit has great coaches, an incredible facility, and an amazing sense of community. It has felt like a home away from home for me. I heard about CrossFit a few years ago and I wanted to try it then, but for whatever reason I didn’t. I finally gave it a shot and I couldn’t be happier with the experience so far. My only regret about CrossFit is that I didn’t start years ago. I have never felt better in my life! Give CrossFit a try and it just might change your life too. :)

We found out about Acuo when my husband competed in their Iron Open event last month. We were seriously blown away by how well the event was run, and the community present was super chill. It was honestly the best CrossFit related event that I’ve been to, which encouraged us to check out the regular schedule and programming.
CrossFit gyms are popping up all over the place, along with articles about bad coaching and scary injuries. Please trust me when I say *you don’t have to worry about this at Acuo*. Dan and Steve put effort into making sure their programming is fun and *safe*. These guys know their stuff, they’ll keep you safe, and they’ll make sure you know your stuff in the future.
It’s a good space. Clean, organized, they have everything (even the bathroom is well stocked), it’s not so big that you feel lost.
I highly recommend this gym to anyone; CrossFit newbies and athletes looking for a new gym!

Just had my first Crossfit experience and these gents did not disappoint.
I felt pushed but not deathly and they were providing constant encouragement. They observe everyone in the class closely to prevent any potential overstrain or injury to make sure you can finish the workout.
I’m not a super competitive person and finished the whole circuit in about 50 minutes and even though I was the last one to finish, everyone else in the class was providing encouragement the whole way! I never once felt like I was a slacker for not finishing in 30 minutes!
I pushed myself as hard as I could go and I felt supported the entire time!

I have been a member at Acuo for about 6 months now, and I am totally impressed. This gym really is for everyone and nobody is left out. There is a lot of emphasis on safety, form, and being healthy. The instruction is top notch with good cues to get everyone on the same page.
My wife and I did a thorough review of all the gyms in the area before joining here (3 visits at each place). We’ve been doing crossfit for about 2.5 years now so we knew what to look for and wanted to make sure we chose the right place. We ended up choosing Acuo for their great vibe (something that cannot be determined by reading reviews or looking at pictures), good location, great coaching, large facility with new equipment, clean environment, and, of course, the community. The people here are very friendly and we’ve already joined in several of their organized events or just the impromptu after-​wod grilling of some steaks.
I am looking forward to seeing the gym grow and evolve as more and more people discover their fitness!

Acuo is the real deal. My wife and I joined together, as an activity we could do together. Coming in, we were at pretty different fitness levels (he’s surpassing mine), and honestly pretty intimidated. On our first visit, we were welcomed, clearly instructed, and set at ease right away.
After that, we were hooked. The daily workouts at Acuo became something we looked forward to everyday. They were challenging, but always had an emphasis on safety, and learning the movements correctly.
It’s a great place, whether you’re looking for a new challenge, to go to the next level, or simply looking to get back in shape.

I have been a member for only a month now and it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made! Although I have been doing crossfit for a few years, Acuo is like none other. The coaches are extremely knowledgable AND can communicate the movements in a very understandable way in order to promote proper mechanics and safety.
«Yes!» the coaching is impeccable and «yes!», the programming is great but the vibe that Coach Dan and Coach Steve has created is the best part! I have worked out with people from all spectrums of life and have been encouraged by their enthusiasm and support.
If you’re looking to get fit, improve your life or just break a sweat — this is the place for you! I have seen great results in my physical fitness but also in my mind. I feel great and I’m loving life!

With the mixed reviews I had heard about CrossFit, and I had always told myself that it was NOT the type of workout for me and that I should stay far, far away (especially with my injured shoulder).
One day, I wanted to try CrossFit out, just to say I did it. I decided to go to Acuo because I had heard it was a brand new CF gym that had opened up in the area, and that it would be a PERFECT place to start for someone that was brand new to CF.
Everyone I had talked to that had previously been there had said that the coaches were top notch. They are passionate about the workout and they want to share the whole aspect of it to clients.
Let me just say… THIS PLACE IS BADASS!!!
The gym is so clean and open. I love the signage, decorations and slogan: Iron Sharpens Iron.
The first time I met Dan Lao, he asked me a series of questions to figure out what my physical background was. From the workouts I liked doing, if I played sports and what type of injuries i had. From there, he explained to me what CrossFit is and why there are so many mixed reviews. I loved that he took the time out to actually explain to me the concept of the workout and his vision of Acuo. He provided me with what a typical class would be if I walked in on any given day (warm-​up, stretching, strength and lifting and WOD). He provides a level of trust, that I know I can reach out to him with questions and not feel ignorant for asking them.
I have been going regularly now for about 2 months and Acuo has changed my outlook on working out. Not only do I love the WODs created daily (both challenging and doable) but I love the whole community and asethetic of the gym. I love how everyone here is all different types of skill levels from the beginners that have never worked out, to the well seasoned CrossFitters that do competitions; they are all so friendly and welcoming.
Whenever I come to CrossFit, I feel like I accomplish a BADASS workout, but I have fun doing it. We keep journals of our progress and it is so awesome to see how much I have improved over time.
If anyone is looking for a great CrossFit gym, I highly recommend this place!
