Ferrell McWhirter Park

Great park! Sneak over there during lunch and feel like I am a world away. Beautiful trees, great walking trails and never crowded during week.

Wide open grass areas to run around in, swings, farm animals, ponies, and hiking trails can be found at this historical park that has deep Redmond roots. Come and learn how the city inherited this piece of land for everyone to enjoy. It’s a perfect place for picnics on a summer day.

Awesome free park/​farm. Love coming here for a quick morning trip with our toddler. I believe they have some hiking trails and other things to do too such as pony rides and birthday party areas. Great spot to have a picnic lunch too.

I used to bring my son here over 12 years ago, so when we passed by the other day and we had some time to spare I walked through the park with my daughter who has never been here since we have been on the east coast for 10 years. It’s still a fun little stop to just get outside and enjoy some fresh air, and well, animal air lol.
It has plenty of wide open space for groups to play or picnic. The little animal area is fun for some laughs. The sheep were all quiet until we walked away and then they had plenty to say! And come on, watching the workers walk the pig… plain old fun!!! We enjoyed ourselves, even if age wise we might be older than the normal farm animals crowd.
We also walked down the super nice paved path by the horses. There is a little shelter down that way and a tire swing. There are trails here and there is a nice map when you come from the parking area.
I liked this park long ago, and still do. It’s a great quiet spot not too far from town to just hang out for a little fun.

Add this to your list of things to do with kids, no matter the season. A cow (and calf), horses, goats with kids, pigs, chickens and rabbits all immaculately looked after. Plus after looking at the animals you can take a stroll through the woods, all the trails are short (under 0.5 mi). The best part? You don’t have to pay a cent. Wholesome outdoor fun.

This is truly a hidden gem, so peaceful, never feels crowded and is off the power line trail (for those of you who live in walking distance).

I’m amazed so few people know about this place… even people who live in Redmond. It’s not a small park.
The park has a big meadow just off the main parking lot (with annoying speedbumps right in the corners, so there’s no way to ride over them straight). The field is great for soccer, badminton, or something. Also, there is a great oak tree toward the edge of the field for sitting under and maybe having a picnic.
There’s a forest with some short, flat trails. Not more than ½ a mile, but the connect with the PSE trail that goes pretty much forever. Once you cross over the little bridge that leads to the trails, look to the left and there’s the road less taken. Take it.
If you’re in to horses, there are a least a couple training rings as this is a working farm. It would be a great place to take the kiddos if they’ve never seen goats, turkeys, and ducks. Etc. Etc.
If you’re in the avondale/​novelty hill area stop by some day and see what you’re missing.
