This place has got to be the most underrated Indian restaurant on the Eastside. Perhaps, it’s the location, because I’ve seen terrible Indian restaurants (Bellevue Crossroads, some on 148^th) with tons of customers.
The lunch buffet is excellent (yummy samosas) but they don’t change the dishes served often. Ala carte menu (love dal Makhani) is good too with several excellent vegetarian options.

When we walked in and this place was literally empty at about 630 on a Tuesday, I can’t lie and say we weren’t a bit scared. But since Indian food was on the menu for dinner that night for our group, Indian food it was!
I was glad to see they had mango lamb curry on the menu, which is pretty much the best thing ever. At $ 12, including rice, it’s a pretty good deal too. It wasn’t the best ever, but it was quite tasty. They also do a good job with the spices. Sure, I am a white girl and can’t handle super spicy food, but I like my Indian food to have a bit of spice, and I feel a lot of places tend to mute it much more for Americans. Luckily, Golden India did not do that, my 3 stars was actually a little spicy, without being overwhelming, just the way I like it. The lamb was good, and the mango sauce delicious. We also had some garlic naan, which as always was quite delicious, if not a bit overcooked.
$ 45 for 3 curry dishes and 2 orders of naan wasn’t bad either. All in all, it’s a good place in Redmond to get Indian food.

Just like one of the previous reviewers said, I am always surprised by how quiet this place is. Their food is absolutely fantastic and the service is very friendly.
We usually go for the lunch buffet — highly recommend the Chicken Tikka Masala and the Saag. Yum! The Naan that comes with your meal is fabulous. The desserts are very good as well. Both of my kids beg to eat here every time we drive by!
Don’t judge a book by its cover though… I gave Golden India four stars ONLY because the restaurant itself is very sparse and could use a makeover. :) Although everyone who works there is as friendly as can be, the restaurant doesn’t feel inviting when you walk in. Very minimal décor — you feel like you should speak quietly or your voice will carry across the room.
Putting that aside, it’s definitely worth visiting. This is our favorite Indian food restaurant. The food speaks for itself! :)

AMAZING food! The service is great, it’s a family run business. The tandoori chicken, chicken marsalas, and garlic naan are excellent. And the buffet is one of the best I’ve ever had.

Loved the Chicken Tikka Masala!!! That was so good! My husband loved the lamb meat balls :)
Everything was pretty good… except that this was my very 1^st time eating Indian food and I’m still not sure what everything is and what I like…
The buffet was fresh and everything looked appealing, but we didn’t have a menu or anything to try to figure out what was in each dish. The naan bread tasted like raw egg… I don’t know if that’s how it was supposed to taste… I guess I was expecting pita bread… hmmm…
It wasn’t very fancy inside and since it was a buffet, we didn’t get the best service… but they were friendly enough.

I am always surprised by how empty it is when I eat here. I think they do a healthy lunch and to-​go business. We usually ended up with the to-​go option. The vegetarian options are solid and we usually got the Chana Masala and Palaak Paneer.

Pretty good Indian for the Seattle area… I’m in the Bay Area now, and a total snob when it comes to Indian.
The restaurant itself leaves much to be desired. It’s a little sparse. I have only ordered out, however, so that didn’t matter to me.
The prices are also a little higher than other places. It was nearly $ 20 after tip just for an order of basmati rice and paneer tika masala. But really, its worth it. And it beats trying to make it at home.

We have now been back several times and the positive experience has been consistent. Both and lunch and dinner.
Something we did not experience the first time but have since is the wife of the owner. She is an incredible person. When we were in on or third visit she came up and asked us how our meal was going while refilling our water. I mentioned that the Saag Paneer was delicious (which by the way it is) and she thanked us and told us the story of how that recipe is her family recipe but alas she can’t do it like in India cuz the FDA food and safety people don’t allow some of the ingredients. She gave us a history of the dish and shared a bit of her history. Partner that with the awesome food and that gets the restaurant at LEAST 5 stars. Plus every time we go back, she seems to remember us and says hi and chats BRIEFLY. Really nice.

The buffet offers great variety and is quite expansive. I was pleased with the food. The staff was friendly and polite.
The one thing that really stood out to me and maybe they have changed it since I was there (I was there right when they first opened), was the floor. I remember that in the center of the dining room there were no tables, most likely to make it easy to access the buffet. They should really replace the flooring. It was old, worn out and stained terribly which just left a bad impression for me.
I haven’t been back and the last I visited was Summer 2010. Might go back, but nothing is really pushing me in that direction.

Not a big fan. Was hoping Kanishka had reopened, went on Unilocal and decided to try the buffet. Indian food to be good needs to be full of flavor, as some have mentioned everything tasted bland. Service was great and Naan was provided hot and fresh. Cost came to a little over $ 10. Kanishka please reopen soon!

My sister and I went here for the lunch buffet. I think this place is newly opened and the chairs and tables look new. The bathroom was clean and newer, but the floor was a typical indoor/​outdoor carpet that was highly stained. Judging the newness of everything else, I assume that they intend to fix it.
The server was very prompt and friendly and we were given naan to accompany our dish (a very nice addition). The buffett was fresh, continually stocked and had a wide variety of types of food, including a vast array of chutnies, sauces (tamarind, cilantro) and salad toppings. They even had samosas and another vegetable appetizer. I am a huge fan of drizzling raita all over my food and thiers was very fragrant and delicious.

Hit this place up today after walking down to our lunchroom and having that impending sense of doom that Sal and the Monellas might be appearing for one night only (sorry, but cross contamination is real and I’m standing up!)
Anyway, I know that Redmond is not often spoken of in superlatives when the subject turns to its culinary offerings, but this place had decent reviews so I took the plunge. I’ve also been having HUGE cravings for Indian since moving here, so I needed to get my fix any which way but loose.
I’ll start off by saying the environment is minimalist, but the people are nice. The lady running lunch was conversant and cleaned up a table for me (I dined alone, not because I’m a devil may care loner, but because this was an impromptu decision and – also – my wife won’t let me have a girlfriend.) I made a direct line towards the buffet which wasn’t too crowded and had all of the appropriate things (sneeze guard, burners running, no insects) required for at least 2 stars.
The food is where it gets interesting. I like to mix my veggies and meats because whomever your favorite deity is put cute animals on be planet so that I can eat them with vegetables. I found that the vegetable based curries were heads and above more flavorful than the meat based curries. In fact, the butter chicken here was missing that tangy punch and smell that I associate with the very best versions of the dish. If the meats improve, this could easily bump my personal review up a star.
So, why three stars… you may ask…
Well, my intrepid reader, it’s because these fine folks otherwise know how to run a buffet. Nothing was left stagnant. I observed workers coming to stir the curries, making sure to add back to the reduced quantities anything that appeared to move quickly. Samosas were part of the buffet (not always a guarantee) and the rice was fresh and flavorful – though I’m not quite certain it was basmati.
The kicker was the naan. Golden India is not stingy like some places and doesn’t cut little naan triangles into a warming tray for you to cry over whilst eating your curry. No, sir (or ma’am), they cook up a fresh piece for each table and give you the entire thing. Not only that, but the naan is «bottomless», which is just like the single best thing you could ever do. Ever.
The only complaint I have about the naan is that there is no ghee used to accent the flavor. This is probably on purpose because people around these parts at least like to pretend to be all super healthy and what not. But, seriously, if you’re eating naan you might as well go ahead and put a little clarified butter on that sucker so that you get the little slice of ridiculous awesomeness before you return to your desk and slave away at making the man even richer. Live for yourself sometime, whydontcha?
The buffet price is just under $ 10 per person, which is probably the median lunch price for Redmond. But, given that this is all you care to eat, I’d say you do better here than other $ 10-​ish lunch haunts in the area.
There is a Starbucks and a Dairy Queen in the same plaza, so if you need a good poop or want to gas it up with your lactose intolerant self after lunch… then this plaza has you covered.
Just do it.

I stumbled across this place when looking for the Noodle & Co that used to occupy the same space, and I’m quite glad I found them!
Their garlic naan is is a tasty treasure of toasted herby softness that will make you craving MORE!
I’d also recommend their Chicken Tiki Masala. It’s got a good flavor and plenty of chicken.
Spicy range here is out of five, and a three is just about right for what you’d expect.
I really hope they last and don’t go out because I’m defiantly a fan. :-)

Delicious, all the usual go to dishes are here and everything I’ve had so far is tasty (which can be tough to achieve for some restaurants).

Went to Redmond today to eat at my favorite Indian place on the Eastside, Kanishka… except Kanishka was closed (AAAUUUGH). Thanks to Unilocal,we quickly located another place close by to indulge our Indian food craving.
The buffet has one of the largest selections/​variety I’ve seen around. The samosas, daal, and saag paneer were pretty good (though nothing special); the chicken tikka masala, however, was super bland. Worst of all, the tandoori chicken was cold in the center! Granted, we were there right after they opened, but still — they could have microwaved it at least!
On the upside, the place was very clean and spacious, and the servers were nice and expedient. It was okay, but… seriously, Kanishka FTW!

Butter chicken here is great! Prime card discount too.
Great Indian food & Indian beer coooked in north indian style. The quantity is a little less i felt, but the experience has been greaat here each time i have been here (4 times so far).
Bottomline: I will go here again for north indian food & the butter chicken :)

Overall not that good. Being of East Indian descent I would say this food is very average. Kanishka (who has recently moved) catered my wedding reception and was a 100x’s better. The food is very mediocre and westernized. Owners of both restaurants are Punjabi and Kanishkas owners have kept it true to taste. Tandoori chicken had no flavor and everything seemed to have basic spices, not at all authentic. Customer service was good but that was about it.
I highly recommend waiting for Kanishka to reopen and visit them. Great lunch buffet and more like home food! ESP the tandoori chicken.
PS Gulab Jamun dessert should be served warm not cold from the fridge, tasted like it was out of a can. just the basics aren’t even covered.

Really good Indian food — best I’ve had in the Redmond area for quite a while, since Haveli Cuisine of India stopped serving meat about 2 years ago.
I went in for dinner on a Friday night with my fiancé, and while it wasn’t packed, there were quite a few people there, most of them clearly of Indian descent. We were seated promptly and had excellent service! The food came out quickly, and they were very attentive to drink and rice refills. Plus, they brought complimentary papadum and the standard tamarind and mint chutneys right as we sat down — few restaurants in the area have been doing that lately.
The food was very tasty, though not quite as spicy as we’d normally like. We’ll have to order them Hot & Extra Hot next time to overcome the «white people quotient». :)
Contrary to other reviews, I thought the price was very reasonable, even cheaper than I expected. We ordered 2 dishes, 2 naan, iced tea, and samosas all for $ 35. And then we used the 15% off coupon on their website, and it was the cheapest meal out we’ve had in a long time!
I’m definitely going to bring some friends here to try out their lunch buffet, and I’ll be back for dinner, as well.
