Janie and Jack

I’ve been familiar with this company for many years, when they used to have conjunction stores for adult women and misses called Janesville. Unfortunately, those stores (at least the ones I frequented in Oakbrook, IL and Burlingame, CA) have closed. They have exceptionally made clothes that are just about timeless.
Now that we have a daughter, Janie and Jack has become a guilty pleasure. Such a cute selection, albeit pricey. Their clearance racks usually have great deals if you’re not into buying the full-​price new stock.
The staff has just about always been cordial and helpful, even going to far as to help us order an out-​of-​stock size over the phone. We’ve only had one issue with a young cashier who spent the entire time we were in the store gossiping with another young female that worked elsewhere in the mall. We chose to leave empty-​handed that day — the already small store was just too uncomfortable with the added high school drama.

I love Janie and Jack, to the extent that I don’t have kids and don’t want kids anytime in the near future.
BUT, when everyone around you is procreating, this is a fabulous place to get baby gifts. I have bought a number of presents here, all at fairly reasonable prices considering its a boutique kids shop. Each time i spent around 20 bucks, got one or two super adorable items, and the very pretty, very polished looking gift wrapping comes gratis. That’s actually about half the reason I shop here, the gift box is so pretty, the store bags are so pretty, it looks like you spent so much more than you did.

I love this store! First, yes, I am a fan of Janie and Jack — the outfits are SO cute. But, I’ve been to a few stores (Bellevue Square, some in California), and the customer service at Redmond Town Center is by far the BEST.
My all time favorite person there is Pamela — she is *always* helpful and *always* nice. She has offered to call me when outfits I’m looking at go on sale… and then she actually *does* (2 other stores offered to do this, but never called). She has even called to tell me something similar to what I was looking at was going on sale («Hi, I know you were looking at x… but there’s this other collection that is a very similar shade of blue that’s also going on sale, I just wanted to let you know…» — AWESOME.
If something’s not in stock, she cheerfully offers to call the online store to find it for me, and if it’s not available, she usually has 2 – 3 other outfit suggestions that might work (and usually do!). Even Sunday evening of a huge sale weekend (Friends and Family), when I know the store has been slammed for 3 days straight she was *still* super helpful and friendly. I’ve worked retail — I know hard people work on big sale weekends! This is what I call a true test — I was impressed by how well she maintained her cheerfulness and energy. If she was exhausted, she didn’t show it — very classy.
And, yes, I tend to shop clearance and sales if I can (J&J is gorgeous but expensive) — I’m pretty sure Pamela is aware of this but she never treats me with anything less than the highest level of customer service. This is why I keep coming back and spending way too much money here. :)

This review is only for the Redmond store. I *love* this store. The Assistant Manager is AWESOME! Unfortunately, I did not catch her name so I am unable to tell you who to ask for, but I will next time I’m in there (I will definitely be back).
We made a mess of her place searching through the sale items and she graciously helped us by bringing out more sizes! (They do have other sizes in the back! Just ask!)
We purchased a lot of clothing for my baby girl, but they were all in 3 – 6 month sizes. I’m not sure if they’ll fit her, or if we bought too many, but I’m not worried because the woman helping us said we could always come back and exchange it if it didn’t fit.
I’ve been to a couple of children’s stores now (I’m trying to stock up on clothes for baby) and this is the first time I actually had a fun experience (besides at Babies ‘R’ Us, see my other review).
We had visited Carter’s, Gymboree, and Osh Kosh in the Supermall in Auburn and all of those stores didn’t hold a candle to the Janie and Jack in Redmond’s Customer Service. I had never been SO EXCITED to purchase my little girl clothes. Because of previous experience at stores, I usually only shop at Macy’s or online. NOW, however, I know where I will be going!
