Ended up at the winery when we missed the driveway for the other one. So thought hey let’s give it a shot! Was happy we did. Walking in you are greeted by two super sweet dogs! After the greeting they disappear so don’t be worried if you don’t like dogs! I actually wish they had hung out longer! Such sweeties! They have a great open room. Which gives off more of a living room vibe then a business. They also have a greet patio area. Would of loved to enjoy it but the rain was pouring!!! On to the tasting, mead is not for everyone! We tasted all of them and some of them were amazing others not my favorite. The lady doing the tasting was great! Super friendly and even gave me an empty bottle of the rose mead because I loved the bottle so much! I highly recommend giving mead and them a try!

This was the best tasting experience I had in Woodinville, hands down. My one previous experience with mead left me a little skeptical of this whole honey wine business – it was too sweet for my liking, and didn’t have much else to round out the flavour. However, a friend very enthusiastically recommended Sky River, and thus our large group of ~15 ended up traipsing down here on a very rainy Saturday. First off, the space was large and roomy yet still had a cozy feel to it. Two other wineries share the tasting room, so it’s a good pit stop. The room is also atop a hill, so you even get a nice view to complement your tasting. Sky River lets you sample all 9 of their offerings for $ 10. The tasting fee is comped with a bottle purchase. Most bottles run $ 15 – 20, so I would highly recommend you go this route. Why? Because this mead is fantastic stuff. It’s crisp and flavourful, yet not overwhelmingly sweet. My favourites were the Brochet Mead, Raspberry Honey Wine, Solas, and Rose Honey Wine. I took home a bottle of the Brochet. If you’re wondering whether or not to come here, you definitely should – as long as you can stomach something that’s a bit on the sweeter side. It’s very likely that the stuff you taste here will be very different(and probably better) than any other mead/honey wine you may have had before. If you enjoy drinking Rieslings, you’ll probably be able to handle the level of sweetness in most of these wines. It’s a unique experience on the Woodinville wine circuit, since everyone else just offers the standard red and white wines. Don’t miss out!

My girlfriend and I have a Washington wine passport, and Sky River was one of the participating wineries, so we decided to go there for a tasting. We had never tried honey wine before, so we were really excited to check it out. Sky River shares a tasting room with two other wineries(Pleasant Hill Cellars and Icon Cellars). Because the mead is so sweet, our server recommended that we taste at the other two wineries first, so that we could go from dry to sweet. We took her recommendation and had a great time at the other tasting areas. The tasting room is atop a grassy hill with a beautiful view of neighboring fields. They have plenty of furniture outside, so we sat in the sun and slowly enjoyed some wine. After sampling the wines from the other wineries, we were finally ready to try the mead. Our server started us off the with their dry mead, and that’s when we learned that mead was far too sweet for us. The first sip of the dry mead made my eyebrows raise with how sweet it was. We tried to play along and keep going with the tasting, but the semi-dry mead was just too much for both of us, and we had to pour it out. I have no idea how anyone could handle the sweet mead. Our server was really nice about the whole thing though, and she let us try the raspberry and blackberry mead instead. Although these wines were really sweet too, the blackberry wine was actually pretty good. Although the mead was way too sweet for us, I can see someone who enjoys sweet wines really enjoying it. Our personal taste preferences aside, we both enjoyed our wine tasting experience at Sky River as well as the service we received. If you like sweet wines, you should definitely check it out.

This is a great little spot in Woodinville; with all the wineries in the area, it’s a breath of fresh air for all of us meade and beer fans! The meade Sky River is brewing is phenomenal! They truly have a type for everyone. from dry and mellow to sweet and fragrant, your tastebuds AND your fellow meade buds will thank you for giving this place a try. They even offer tastings($ 10 a person for unlimited tastings). Oh, and every once in a while they have a groupon which cuts that already amazing deal in half($ 10 for two)!! Needless to say, I couldn’t recommend this place more!

I was super excited when I saw a meadery on Groupon so I purchased the Groupon for my husband and I. We went to the tasting room this past week. It’s a small, cute tasting room. We tasted 9 different meads. If you like sweet wine, then you’ll have certainly found«heaven» here! I wished the woman behind the counter would have talked to us about the wines… what she was pouring, the type of honey, the process, etc. After she poured each time, I had to ask her what she just poured and hoped each time she might tell me something about the wine, where the honey came from, suggestions for food pairing, the art on the label, etc… anything! All we got was… it’s sweet! If you have a Groupon, I’d say it’s worth a tasting trip. While my husband and I like mead, these meads were super duper sweet and kind of all tasted the same… sweet…so we did not buy any to take home.

This meadery tasting room is nestled in the prime winery area of Woodinville. There are two wineries that have tastings in the same tasting room, so there’s something for everyone! We came here around 1:30pm on a Saturday, and the smallish parking lot was already full, which is always a good sign! They have two tasting options, and all of their different meads are available to try. There variety of the meads range from dry to sweet and everything in between. The tasting room has plenty of comfortable seating and great views of the valley. There are also some small things to buy made from honey/beeswax plus some cool wine accessories. Of course, you can purchase all of the meads that you sample at a great price. This is a cool place to come try mead and support a local company that makes great meads!

I had tried numerous types of mead before and never enjoyed them. I wondered why the old norse sagas were all so full of poetic descriptions of such a lackluster drink. And then I went to a tasting at Sky River. I soon realized that there is a lot of mead to be had, and much of it is poorly made. Sky River’s on the other hand, lives up to every boast made by those ancient kings and poets. In particular, their Solas mead is second to none. I now buy it by the case(something I can’t say about any other beverage). I bring it with me to gatherings and camping trips that are attended by skilled brewers of mead, and even they find Solas to be among the best. Their other varieties are also delightful — the blackberry, raspberry, rose, ginger and the sweet brochette. I recommend them all. Extremely friendly staff. The two sisters who run the meadery are very laid back and friendly.

Went here for a tasting and was stunned by how fantastic the mead was — not only were there a lot of unique options(ginger, anyone?) the flavors of the different honey were highlighted incredibly well. They have a great dry and semi-sweet option as well, and none of their meads taste like syrup which is what I often encounter elsewhere. Beyond pleased and must convince greater distribution across the US to happen! Friendly, family run and a beautiful establishment as well. There was a cute patio overlooking the area to enjoy a glass =)

We got a groupon here and I was pretty excited to go because I’ve never been wine tasting, let alone mead tasting! My boyfriend makes his own mead so he was quite interested. A full flight taste consisted of 8 different meads for normally $ 10. Half flight includes 4 of their more standard meads like dry, semi-sweet, sweet, and rose. The second half included ginger, raspberry, blackberry, and solas. By far, my favorite was the rose! I feel like all of them were on the sweet side, but the rose had such a nice flavor. The lady who was helping us was actually one of the brewers. She said the petals were infused in the wine for a few weeks. My second favorite was the solas. She described the wine as something that King Author would drink. Overall it was a really great first wine tasting. We ended up buying a bottle of the rose and raspberry mead. :)

I love mead! I first tried Sky River a few years ago when I found a bottle at my parents’ house that was hiding in the back of the cabinet. After researching further, I discovered that the bottle of mead was made locally. It wasn’t until recently that I had a chance to go mead tasting, thanks to a livingsocial deal. I took a friend and we tasted each of their 8 meads that they had available at the time. The tasting wasn’t rushed at all and we tasted each one at our own pace. The space was beautifully decorated for the holidays and felt really cozy. They also have a little sitting area with reading material and chess and backgammon, if you’re in the mood. We sipped mead as we took a look around. They even have other honey-related things for sale. I left with a bottle of the dry mead and a bottle of their rose mead. Mead is a good alternative to wine. But be warned that it is sweet. The spectrum goes from sweet to really sweet. Don’t be fooled by the dry mead; «dry» in this case just means«a little less sweet».

Glenda hosted our group for a private mead tasting, and we had a fantastic time! The location overlooking Woodinville farms is stunning and the mead is delectable.($ 5 for a generous glass or tasting). Sky River has crafted a perfect product and a perfect setting for celebration. We will certainly return again and I highly recommend Sky River for your next event!

Glenda was super cool, loved the tasting room, and the dogs, wish that had the thicker mead, but liked their offerings

Got a chance to meet the Mead(Honey Wine) brewers, who are also the Owners. For something unique — go here, the product is outstanding, kosher, and something different than wine. I am no mead expert, but they have different varieties and it’s not heavy grog. They’ve been in business for 15 years, so they know their honey. Great hospitality.

We went to Sky River Brewing during my birthday weekend in October as part of our«Woodinville Hop». I had never had mead before and had definitely never looked it up, so I was ready to rid myself of mead ignorance with a tasting. Did you know that«„honeymoon“ comes from the ancient tradition of giving bridal couples a moons worth of honey-wine»? How opportune, since I wanted to give something for my sister and brother-in-law for their November wedding.(Unfortunately, I left the bottle(not a moon’s worth) at home… and now have to try hard not to open it for myself. Must remember to send it to them… before they go on their late honeymoon!) The mead was smooth and sweet, and the lady who was helping us was very friendly and informative. I’m definitely going to have to go back and pick up another bottle during our next«Woodinville Hop»! Also, for a story on the history of mead, you don’t have to wait to visit them to grab a pamphlet. You can check it out on their website. :)

This is the best mead, aka honey wine, I have ever tasted by a LONG shot. If you’ve tried mead in the past and didn’t like it you MUST give it another chance with Sky River. This mead is so clean and crisp it’s unlike most wines of all kinds; this is really a unique flavor. The tasting room is beautiful with a few tables outside in case you want to bring some snacks and drink a bottle of freshly purchased, and freshly chilled, mead. If you’re doing a Woodinville wine tour you really need to stop here and try something different and exceptional.

Local Meadery on Hwy 2 on the way to Stevens Pass offer 3 levels of Dry-ness and even a raspberry honey wine. Good selection of merchandise including wine glasses, stone logo coasters and mead filled chocolates. We discovered this vintage of mead(honey based wine like beverage) on sale in our local Fred Meyer only to have it gone the next visit. Since I had business in the Woodinville area it wasn’t that long a trek down Hwy 2 just past Monroe to this small industrial building offering tastings but no food(hey Unilocal you need a better category for retail only wineries!). They offer a 15% discount on a case & a free wine glass. Very friendly staff, very pretty drive. We’ll make this a yearly visit for sure!
