Do not use this builder. His stuff looks great on the exterior but behind the scenes, it is another story. Personality of a slug and it’s his way or the highway. He uses cheap products. An example would be his lighting which he purchases overseas for 3 cents and it shows up on the invoice as $ 7, which is what you’d pay for the same product at Lowe’s. If you were to want to remodel one of Mr. Smith’s homes, again he views it as HIS home and if you want to make certain changes that go against his grain – but they are what you want – you’ll get nothing but pushback. After buying one of his homes, we had a leak in our water line. Digging it up we found he used PVC pipe, instead of Poly which is not only cheaper but doesn’t degrade when it comes into contact with chorine. The pipe was brittle AND no one glued it together! But since you only have to have the connection at the water meter and at the house inspected, why should Mr. Smith care?! He had some extra pipe laying around, so why not use it. After the house sells and resells a couple times, it’s no longer his problem.
