Aloha Smog

Been here twice and they’ve always been awesome, friendly and quick. Usually 15 min on average.
For first timers here, it might be a bit confusing tonfind the place but its on Artesia behind the Independent Repair Tire Pros shop. Just pull into the back and you’ll see two places to park in the back. That’s where Aloha Smog is actually at.

Needed a smog check — fast. Nice folks! Quick service. Easy to find. Cute waiting area. Recommend! In Redondo Beach on Artesia Blvd just east of Inglewood Ave, between the Mobil station and the Best Western.

Update — Well — the hose that the technician didn’t like the looks of cost me $ 65 just for parts at the Ford dealer and then I had to pay installation. They agreed the hose was worn but functioning absolutely fine, never should have been failed, and will write a letter for support of my complaint to the State. Another Star shop took pity on my getting screwed and gave me a discount rate on getting resmogged and my smogging is done. Aloha to Aloha — or more appropriately — AMF. What were they thinking deciding to screw me after all the times they’d smogged my cars? I can only hope that they get spanked by the State for their technical carelessness.
By the way, unless you like Coke or Coke Zero — there was othing else in that fridge anymore. No water, no juice, etc. Like I said, things have changed. Even the broad selection of mens and womens magazines was gone. If you want to go to Vegas, there were several complimentary OC to Vegas mags there.
Original Review — Well, I never imagined after all these years using Aloha that I’d find myself writing this negative review. This is the 2^nd or 3^rd car I’ve smogged this year (maybe even 4^th) and the last 2 times I didn’t recognize the technician as a familiar face. Maybe that should have tipped me off.
Full disclosure, I’m also filing a complaint with the Bureau of Auto Repair, the state regulatory agency that grades and manages smog shops.
I took my truck in and it passed the smog measurement, had no check engine light, and no stored error codes in the computer. Despite that, the overzealous technician decided that one of my engine hoses looked worn so he failed my truck. Needless to say, I am pissed. Obviously the hose was fine, or there would have been codes in the computer. Any experienced repair person, and hopefully any smog tech knows that.
I had a shop order an expensive, dealer only, formed hose and install it after being failed because it «didn’t look good». My shop also tested the old hose for leaks, and are writing up an affidavit that it was working perfectly fine for the Bureau.
I read the state smog manual online and also talked to the Bureau and they said I should file a complaint with my information, so I will.
The vehicle passed smog. No errors were found. The emissions were good.
Aloha NEVER should have wasted my time and money and I’ll never go back. Something has changed at Aloha, and not for the better. My time is worth something too, and apparently they’ve lost respect for their customers.
I’ve talked to two other Star smog facilities and one will give me a reduced price retest so that I don’t have to even go back to Aloha. I may take them up on that offer!

Had a difficult time finding this location even though I have used Aloha many times before. Just remember that it is behind the Independent Repair Shop and you should be fine. I arrived seeing a stunning black Ferrari in the bay and figured this place must be special to allow someone touch their ‘baby’ with confidence.
I had a requirement for a «STAR» Certification Smog so this station fit the bill and Dale, the technician, was a welcome sight. I think I spent about 13 minutes total start to finish. Unbelievable! I brought all my mail, bills, and miscellaneous personal paperwork with me so I could while away the time to enable being productive during a potential wait time. I only just sat down and enjoyed one of their free cold beverages, a delightful V8 and next thing I know I was paying the bill.
High recommend for fast service, amenable staff, great location, and reasonable fee. Don’t forget to check out their website so you can request the discount coupon. Great experience.

Drove right up for the smog check and helped immediately. LOVE the fully stocked fridge and the free air freshener. Took them about 20 minutes start to finish. Used them last year as well for a smog test and my car didn’t pass the first time. They recommended a place to help fix the problem and then we went back to Aloha Smog for a free re-​test (fortunately passed the second time!). Will keep returning for sure.

Aloha Smog is directly behind the Mobil station at Inglewood & Artesia. Friendly, clean, free soda/​water, free air freshener, Hawaiian music playing… GREAT experience. I will be back in 2 years.

Rolled in and out within 15 minutes — barely had time to sit in the Tiki lounge and get through the LA Times Sports page. Don’t forget to mention the online coupon which gets you $ 10 off. With those savings you can buy a few baja shrimp tacos across the street! Best smog & taco combo anywhere!

Dale was super nice and accommodating.. I had never been there before and there was a coupon that they had for this month only. Dale actually mentioned it to me and applied it to my bill and they had water available for their customers. Honestly, the easiest and quickest car service I’ve ever had. I think I was there maybe a total of 15 minutes. These guys are awesome! As someone who has worked in customer service for 10 years, I was blown away and if I could give more stars I would.

The whole thing was pretty painless aside for having to come back but that was my fault. Tip: don’t unplug your battery 2 or 3 days before getting your smog checked or else you will not pass. Comfortable waiting area the whole thing maybe took about 15 minutes each time. Definitely using and referring this establishment over and over.

I came in on the day my renewal of my car registration & smog was due. I was literally panicked thinking I wasn’t going to find a place open to do my smog test on a Sunday, but I found Aloha Smog on Unilocal.
I called in before coming asking if they were busy and the employee said no and even told me about the online discount. I drove down and within 15 quick mins I was out of there. All you need to know is that this place is fast, friendly, and very accommodating. The wait area felt like I was back at home in Hawaii. It was such a relaxing and chill atmosphere, you wouldn’t even think that you were at a smog station. I’ll be trusting them with my smog check ups from now on.

I’ve been going here for many years now, and I think the service is outstanding and the environment as pleasant as a smog shop can be. I don’t wait in the waiting area, though it is nice, but walk around the neighborhood. They are always done by the time I get back from my short walk. Aloha transmits the smog certification to DMV and then I head to AAA to pay my registration fees, and I’ve never had a problem with the smog cert. I don’t price shop Aloha, and I have seen coupons for 30 dollar smogs, but I trust Aloha, so I don’t go elsewhere.

I was the only one there when I arrived, so they were able to get me in and out in 15 minutes. The guy behind the counter was very friendly, too. They have a Hawaiian themed waiting room with comfy chairs and a sofa. They also have a small refrigerator with complimentary soft drinks and some Sunny D. I would suggest adding bottled water for more health-​conscious customers.
Overall, it was a great experience. You can probably find a cheaper place, but it likely won’t be as friendly and clean or probably as quick. Those extras were worth paying for, in my mind.

Talk about a great service. You know there are very few car mechanic that I trust that I totally trust a Loja smog. We have been coming here for years he gives good advice is hospitable and polite. He has a nice clean waiting room with the cool things like free Dr Pepper and great reading material like cookbooks you’ve never seen in your life.

Fast, great, friendly service! Comfy, clean waiting room with a variety of magazines to keep you busy, though the wait was not long at all. Also a fridge with refreshments! And to top everything off, a free palm tree car freshener! Yay for Aloha Smog!

Great little shop hidden behind a tire store and repair shops on Artesia. Came in on a Saturday where I was the only customer, and warmly greeted by Dale. The aloha theme carried into the waiting room with the furniture and Hawaiian music playing. My test only took around 10 minutes and I was on my way.

An efficient setup — pull in, grab some refreshments, check your mobile and all allowing for you to get it done without missing a day of work or adding another task to your weekend! Also, they’re STAR Certified! These guys got a good work ethic and will do it right! I’ve found the place for our cars in re future! Aloha!

I needed a place near Redondo beach for my smog check and came across this place. I called to see if you needed an appointment first and the nice gentlemen on the phone said no, come on in.
I arrived and was assisted by Dale. He was sooo nice and extremely professional. He finished my smog in 15 minutes and said i passed easily. They have a nice lounge area with a Hawaii theme to it. It was very comfortable and clean. They also offer complimentary beverages while you wait. They had a full variety of drinks from sodas, juices, water and sunny D. I will sending some business to Aloha in the future!

I have been coming here for many years to get my vehicles smogged. Years ago I found out about them through a mailer, the price was right & I needed to get my vehicle smogged.
Each instance has been a pleasant one. Staff is always courteous, customer areas are neat & clean. The waiting area is decorated with bamboo furniture, Hawaiian landscape watercolor prints, Tiki masks, & of course, soothing Aloha music. Smog check procedure seems like a breeze. lol
Prices have increased a bit since I first started coming here but I never get a sales pitch or pushed to do additional repairs.
