Aviation Park Track & Soccer Fields

Lately its been getting more and more busy, lots of folks milling around watching the soccer matches and blocking lanes 1 and 2. It would be nice if staff would enforce its own policy and get these folks off the running/​jogging lanes. Same w walkers, signs all over that ask them to use lanes 3 – 5 but they ignore signs and continue walking /​blocking jog/​run lanes 1 – 2

I always enjoy my walks, the place is open, well lit and it’s safe. Always a lot of folks walking the track. The custodial works needs improvement. The bathrooms are filthy with trash on the floor. The track is in need of resurfacing and the artificial grass needs some cosmetic work including cleaning up the green grass fibers; there are piles of the stuff everywhere, mostly near the edges of the field. Obviously a result of constant use.
Parking is decent, best on the weekend when the business folks aren’t working.

Love the wide open area — great way to get your exercise on! You could jog, run or walk. Kids are welcome! There’s also a small park right next to it. Great for little ones. Love this place!

Good, well lit, safe and convenient place to walk, jog or run. Love that it has restrooms too and plenty of parking. Unfortunately about two-​thirds of joggers/​runners apparently do not know how to read and use the lanes reserved for walkers.

I get some of my best run times on this track. It’s easy on my knees and I don’t have to dodge traffic like I do on my street runs.
What I do have to dodge are soccer balls (it’s a field, that’s a given) and the swarms of walkers that show up at any given time of day. I have no problem with people who want to walk. The track is for everyone. The problem comes when people are walking in the designated run/​jog lanes or taking selfies at a dead stop.
The rules are posted for a reason. It would be nice if people made an effort to follow them.

EXCELLLLENT PLACE to visit to shed those winter pounds and unwanted post baby weight!!! This place is located amid somewhat of a residental area and is quaint, quiet, clean and void of panhandlers and transients.
From the 405, take Rosecrans down to Aviation and swing a left. A good mile or two down you’ll note the field to your left just after a gorgeous set of upscale condos.
Parking is FREE and surrounds the park itself, yet my recommendation is you avoid parking adjacent the park itself and circle the joint. There’s a fair sized lot once you circle around and your auto won’t be a bull’s eye target for wayward soccer balls.
The grounds consist of a 5 lane (paved) track. This location is home to joggers, sprinters, triathlon runners and casual walkers as well. The soccer field in between can take on some pretty intense rugby games yet everyone I’ve come into contact wih thus far is extremely friendly.
Maybe it’s the air. Perhaps the location, even. Noteworthy however, would be the absolute eye candy around. COME HERE WITH YOUR GAME FACE ONNN!!! One wrong turn to watch an Adonis stretch those glutes could result in an absolute fatality and sorry… NO LIFEGUARD ON DUTY HERE, lol.
This location seems to attract a pretty upscale crowd of people however; obviously the health conscious yet I’ve noticed quite a number of athletes and trainers as well as doctors, teachers and attorneys all congregate. Loosely translated: If you break too much of a sweat & collapse from exhaustion or heat stroke, …you’re without a doubt amongst those enabled to resuscitate and hydrate you or even so much as file a lawsuit on your behalf. To be perfectly honest, I’m still in search of someone to file my taxes! I know there’s got to be a tax attorney jogging around this joint somewhere!!!
So…if you’re in search of a well lit… syringe free environment typically void of children, where you can decompress and not have to focus on whether or not safety is in fact an issue, this is an absolute go to spot. I think that just about sums things up.

The gardener needs to complete the job! Track 5 has lots of grass clippings also candy bar wrappings, etc. They could pull the weeds too in certain areas to make it more eye appealing while we’re walking around the track. Besides that, it’s a very safe and fun place to exercise.

Awesome place to work out! Nice track to get your run on, but watch out for flying soccer balls as multiple soccer games are going on between 7pm-​10pm.
I play soccer on a coed 7v7 team here during the week. It is a turf field but super fun to get out there and run around a bit! If you play soccer or just like to run around outdoors this is the spot for you…

Good place to go for a walk or to run Redondo just not too long ago restored the track and put in a new one and also the soccer fields are really nice looking and usually always in use.

Clean track. I like to get a run in before/​after work. Usually a good number of runners on the track even when the lights are off. Sometimes parking can be a hassle especially if there’s an event at the adjacent Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center.

Awesome well kept track with plenty of parking and pretty decent bathrooms. Definitely lots of eye candy to keep your run interesting, what with the soccer players filling up the field and all.
Couple of negs though. Watch out for the flying soccer balls — I’ve had to play goalie a couple of times. And the track gets swarmed with walkers after the whistle lets out all the 9-to-5’ers.

Nice track, open green field with soft artificial grass. I like running here, the track is soft, much better than a concrete surface like at some high schools. The field is nice to sprint on. Usually there is a soccer game of some sort going on, but even then there is space to do sit ups or something if you feel like it.
It can get crowded, but that’s just how it is for a free public track. There are people who fail to walk on the outside which is annoying. If you go later in the evening around 8:30 or 9 it will be more open. Also, tiny pieces of the rubber track might jump up into your shoe. A minor nuisance. Overall this is a nice track and a very convenient location for South Bay residents.

My go to track for many reasons its local convenient and its clean also plenty of parking yes the track gets crowded at times but I enjoy the traffic the little kids practicing and new moms with the strollers trying to get that pre baby body again and its soft turf which is always a plus for runners and their knees and joints I go to this track 2xs a week sometimes more

My hubby plays soccer here with the South Bay Sports League, and loves it. I enjoy coming out to watch him play, because I can also run a few miles around the track while he’s warming up for his games.
This complex is very organized, in the sense that the track and field are always clean, there’s ample parking, and the games start/​end on time.
We’ve been coming here for the past 3 — 4 yrs for my hubby to play, and continue coming back!

This track is excellent. It’s free and parking is ample. There are always plenty of people of all types here, which makes it a comfortable place to run and work out without feeling intimidated, but it’s never excessively crowded. At night it’s lit up like a Christmas Tree which I enjoy for the safety factor.

One of the better turf fields for playing soccer that I’ve come across. They need to put up a higher fence to save the soccer balls kicked by over-​enthusiastic men ending up in traffic on Aviation Blvd.

Great place to run if you’re in the area. There’s plenty of parking everywhere. It’s a standard track, so it’s ideal when working on anything from distance to speed. There’s a mixture of all types of people from age to levels of athleticism.
They’ll have soccer games going on so you becareful of soccer balls that may hit you. In addition, they have a snack shack that sell food and drinks. The only downside to this place is that it’s literally next to Aviation Bouelvard, so when it gets traffic you can sometimes smell the smog coming from the cars. If you don’t go during the times people typically leave from home for work, or coming home from work you’ll be good.

Love the track here. It’s padded and easy to jog/​run on.

Not a bad place to work out, if you’re willing to drive to it. And lucky for you, there’s plenty of parking! Enter off of Space Park Drive (off Aviation Blvd., north of Manhattan Beach Blvd.), and then turn right at the first stop sign.
There was a mix of people using the field and track when I went today, and that seems to be the norm. You have runners, walkers, run/​walkers on the track, with soccer teams or soccer individuals using the field. I’m sure this changes with the seasons. Suffice to say there was more than enough space for me and my friend to run around, and we didn’t have to worry too much about the soccer balls hitting us either (since there are practice nets).
The great thing about the track here is that it’s a rubber track, so it’s easy on your knees. It’s worn down a bit, since it was first installed in 2008, but it is still better than running on asphalt and loads better than running on cement. There’s also bright stadium lighting, which is great if you are a solo runner who wants to get in a night run without risking your safety. And, unlike a lot of parks, this one has a clean bathroom. Well, the women’s bathroom was clean and well-​stocked. I can’t say anything about the men’s bathroom.
It’s a standard 0.25 mile track, and it might get tiring to run round and round; but it’s a good way to work on your speed without killing your knees or getting run over. Check it out!

Terrific Soccer Fields — Our team usually plays 7v7 at Crossroads in Santa Monica which feels super cramped compared to the nice turf fields at Aviation. The fields themselves seem well maintained and there is a lot of room for running the ball up and down the field making for much better games. This might explain why we’ve won the last two games here =). Unfortunately the fencing around the track/​fields aren’t very high so there are sometimes short game delays while players chase down balls in the surrounding parking lot.
Legit Running Track — No dirt track here! There are always plenty of runners, walkers, and athletes running around the nice rubber track. I really wish I lived closer so I could train on this track rather than running on asphalt streets. Remember to watch lanes to avoid being hit or getting in someone’s way!
Easy Parking — Super easy free parking on the weekends with plenty of shaded parking on hot summer days!
A definite recommendation for soccer players and runners alike!
