Has a few enclosed glass tutoring rooms, enclosed glass children’s room with games and books so your children can play in.
Computer section and many little pods with outlets and wifi for studying.
Super open and tons of natural lighting, and great place to study at or just relax and read a book.
Family bathroom located inside the library next to the kids room or just walk back into the lobby for water fountains and bathrooms.

Nice place — book selections is smaller than the South Branch — you’ll often find you have to go to the other to get the book you’re after — but it’s quiet and close to Starbucks so it is a good place to get work done.

While it is nice to have a library in the North Redondo area, I think I the workers there need to be taught what a library is most known for: a QUIET place!
It is nice to get check out quickly and have organized stacks (kind of a given if you ask me) but if it’s not a place where people can go to read or study then it’s a book store. Heck, Barnes and Noble is a quieter place then this place!
Every time I have been there there are kids yelling (parents– it’s not hard teach you children what is appropriate behavior in a library), people having conversations in the middle of the place, phones ringing and even a guy today walking around FACE TIMING! And the staff? Does nothing to ask these people to conduct themselves in an appropriate way– hell they were sometimes just as loud and obnoxious.
If you are a parent this place is a perfect spot to bring your rambunctious toddler if you are a student with any hope of getting studying or work done or someone looking for a quiet reading spot; no hope here! You are better off going to Starbucks up the street.

We made our library cards in less than 5 minutes of arriving. This location is small but well stocked with books, audios, videos, plenty of outlets, desks, and seats. They even have a childrens book reading room! We are so thankful that we have a great resource so close to home. We will definitely be frequenting this library. The place is so clean and new!

Really nice library and great to study in. If they don’t have a book in the library the librarians will work with you on ordering a book in within a few days. The environment is very nice and calm as well

We have a few readers in our family so our local libraries are part of our weekly life.
We have kindles and ipads but we love the actual books. Recently one of the teens in our family needed to write a report on Nelson Mandella. This library had just what we needed when we needed it. Two of us read it. Our community is blessed to have such good libraries.

This library is ok. I enjoyed it more before the upgrade. It needs to buy more updated books. People are not donating DVDs like they use to either, the selection is old and boring. There seems to be lack of seating here. The hours are kind of weird as well. I use to like coming here a few years ago but I would recommend the main library on PCH.

What a great little library. The staff is super friendly and helpful. I feel like it is a hidden gem since both times I have been there (on Saturdays), it is almost empty.
Both reference librarians have been exceedingly nice. I found it easy to reserve books on-​line and had them delivered from the main library to here.
Parking is ample and easy.
One of my hold books was missing. The librarian found it and called me on my cell without me asking her to. That is very thoughtful service in my book… bad pun =)/​
Warning: Check the hours before you go. They have strange operating hours and do not open daily.

I just moved here and I went to the library to check out some books. I get up to the desk and they won’t let me get a library card! They said they needed a picture ID with my current address. Of course I haven’t updated these things yet since I just moved. I tried to show them a copy of my most recent renters insurance receipt email on my phone with my updated address, they said, no, it has to be printed. I explained that I do everything paperless and don’t even own a printer. I asked if I could use the library printer to print a copy. They said no, you have to have a library card to use the printer! I asked if I could email it to them so THEY could print it out, since they were worthy enough to have a library card (I’m sure). They said no to that too, but gave no reason. What happened to customer service? What happened to being a human being and cutting people from slack? Is it not enough that I pay taxes in this county to pay their salaries? I’ve had a library card in one city or another since I was about 8 years old. What do they do if a child needs a library card? THEY certainly do not have picture ID with their current address on it. The whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth. What SNOBS!

The library is housed in a beautiful building and offers a variety of services in limited quantities. There are stacks, reading tables, computer terminals, a children’s reading room and two meeting rooms, all small.
This could be a real nugget, a place the neighborhood is proud of. But scheduling and staffing give the impression that it is, instead, the Siberia of the Redond Beach library system. Only one weekly event is geared toward toddlers, and it is scheduled during a toddler’s typical naptime. Staff don’t smile at all and are not very engaging. Library hours are short. The website ignores the north branch completely and only advertises events at the main branch. You have to call the north branch for any info. Brr, it’s cold in Siberia.
So sad to see such a lovely, well designed building in such an under-​served area get such shabby treatment. This place has a lot of unrealized potential.

Good clean & quiet place to get some work done (if you don’t feel like camping out at a coffee shop). It looks small, but they have plenty of desks scattered around.

omg i love this place! everything is so convenient. you get a nice view as well. very clean, no smelly carpets lol. their bathroom is clean. the only thing i didn’t like at first was it was hard trying to connect to the wifi. you have to do something on your computer, i have no idea why. and also this place gets crowded at times. sometimes my favorite spot (by the window) is always occupied hahaha.
their staff are very nice and helpful. but can you please be open on tuesdays or fridays? i hate that you’re closed on tuesdays :(

It’s hard to hate on free, open-​to-​all libraries, but some do have that smell about them, and the idea of sitting in one for hours may not be pleasant.
But with this North Bran Library, I am fortunate to live so close to it. Although the main library in south Redondo has more books, space, options, it is more enclosed and I don’t always find a decent place to study. The places it has to study don’t have much natural light. Don’t get me wrong, love that one too, but the North Branch:
–feels new, was remodeled, is clean, has a nice little parking, close to Starbucks if you want to head over there for a beverage, not crowded with RBHS students, a lot of study desks, clean and accessible bathrooms, friendly staff and nice views of the street while you study. can’t complain!
One thing – the wifi seems to kick me out, not sure why, but then for long stretches it works fine.

I grew up going to the Redondo Beach North Branch and back then it wasn’t as fancy as it is now. Said nicely, the old library had the «old library» feel and smell to it. The new library is a night and day difference though. The new library is LEED certified and very well designed to let in natural lighting.
Honestly, hands down this is one of the cleanest and well lit libraries in the area. There’s a good amount of desks (probably 10+ separate desks) to study at and even 2 or 3 tutor rooms for those tutoring/​being tutored. For parents, there’s a kids area that is closed off so that sound doesn’t travel towards to the other parts of the library.
The only downside of the library is that the Internet is a little shotty. So if you’re planning on studying here and really need the internet, prepare to be disconnected here and there.
Food Spots that are a very quick drive from the library that you need to check out:
* There’s also a Starbucks walking distance in case you need a caffeine fix.
There’s ample parking in a private parking lot in the back also. Let’s support the library and keep this one clean and wonderful for the community!

The renovation and remodeling are done and the North Redondo Beach Library is open again! It’s beautiful, has a convenient parking lot behind the building and street parking as well. The community room and quiet rooms are lovely as is the main corridor. The interior décor in itself is a bit drab, but the building is beautiful.
Just an FYI… If you check out a book here or at the Main Branch you can return it to either location and renew it at either location or online.

This library got a makeover and it was worth the funds let me tell ya! Nice community room, nice library with a lot of space, doesn’t smell old anymore! Kids room is nice too, there is a big glass wall with a door separating the kids books which is great for us parents who don’t like to tell our kid to be quiet every five seconds. Definitely check it out, lovely neighborhood addition!

Grand opening new library is September 28, 2010. The building looks terrific

Yesterday they started the demolition of this poor little library.
They plan on it being rebuilt by July 2010

I really want to like this library, my local library, but I just can’t.
The people who I encountered working there weren’t friendly, the place is too small to be useful, I wouldn’t hang out there to read.
I’ve only borrowed CDs, and DVDs/​VHS tapes. I’ve also gone online and requested books to be transferred to this branch for a convenient pickup, but it takes a while.
I’m really looking forward to the remodel, and I’ll definitely be donating some money to help out (Cheri provided the link as
