Don’t bother. Nasty. Last year I checked if they had a certain style of kite(designed by a distant relative). Owners were dismissive, nasty – couldn’t have been less friendly. I am a Redondo Beacher, and they are a horrible reflection on a great beach town. These people flat-out suck. Get your kite elsewhere.

Two stars because they actually have some kites, but they are all low-end, low quality single line kites. They seem unfamiar with the concept of multi-line kites. If you want to buy a kite from a store head to Huntington Beach…

Love this place. This is where I buy all my kites(2 so far need another one). They have a really good selection from beginner to advanced. They’re located in the center of Redondo Beach Pier. I feel like their kites are very reasonably priced and they have a wide selection. Thank you! You guys are awesome. :)

I like the kite displays around the shop, and young guy who watches the store. But I found out the toy school bus I bought from here costed less than 2⁄3 of the price at this toy stop from Mitsuwa Market Place in Torrance. The kites costed a bit more than other places, so far we’ve only bought the shark kite from here and it broke after one use. Bought a bubble gun from them during at kid’s school, it was a one time thing for $ 8.99. The yoyo we bought was kind of pricy too. My gf bought a 3D kite from them a while ago, it broke after one use. I don’t know if it’s due to the improper use or the kite was just too flimsy to begin with, the store didn’t want the return, so they ended tossing the expensive kite. If a store on a nice location can keep their price in check and has good quality merchandise, it’ll have a lot more customers in the long run.

So often nowadays finding a store like this is like coming up with a needle in a haystack. Everywhere you turn, there’s a store for computers, gadgets, and video games. Where have all the wholesome activities gone? I came here dead-set on buying a kite because the last time I bought one from Funbunns in Manhattan Beach, that thing didn’t last 15 minutes because of sticker parts. Who uses stickers on a kite? Sand gets on that shit like flies on dung. Sunshine Kite Company is quite the spectacle. It’s a tiny hut located in the middle of pier restaurants and kitschy souvenir shops. It’s quite possibly the smallest building space on the entire pier. It’s hard to miss, though, because their storefront display full of wind catchers and colorful pinwheels is all up in your face. POW! Colors coming out of your yin-yang! My kite was only $ 12.99 and it was a bomb-ass purple dragon with an awesome tail and streamers on both wings. Minimum wind speed is 5mph up to about 14 I think, and they had an even cooler dragon for $ 21.99 that was all 3D and large that requires minimum 7mph. Since I’m a novice flyer, I decided to start small. Boy, did that dragon fly. With no stickers for assembly, and made of ripstop nylon instead of cheap-o plastic, it worked marvelously. I was as giddy as a kid as I watched that dragon float higher and higher. I also showed the boyfriend that kites actually do work; poor guy had a traumatic experience with a kite that never flew. Call me a goober, but I like flying this kite. Even more amazing was that a store like this exists. The owners are very nice and are very helpful. They’ll even entertain wide-eyed little kids balking at yo-yos that are much too expensive for them to buy. True story.

This place is a delight I should buy a kite! In my photos you’ll see Colors wild & free A sight I hold dear When I’m out on the Pier If I were a kite I would fly Against the blue sky Higher and higher I’d go I’d put on a show In the wind I would dance I’d swoop and I’d prance Like a rocket I’d soar Then I’d come back for more I’d sail the skies I’d find paradise And when day turned to night I’d be out of sight I’d play in the stars Hell, I’d go to Mars I’d be in such bliss The moon I would kiss I hope you won’t frown If I never come down It would be a good thing If you’d just cut my string…
