RWC Taco Quest Stop #4 1.5 because they are one of the few joints that offer cuisine from El Salvador on Middlefield. Tacos: $ 1.00 each Seating: Yes Cash Only Size: Small 2 tortillas Good for Groups: Yes, parties of 4+ Parking: Somewhat. Look to the street and walk for easy access. So I hate to bash the joint with the prominent El Salvador flag hanging on the wall… BUT…they gave me a carne asada taco with shrimp cocktail sauce for salsa. YUP. COCKTAILSAUCEFORSALSA. Who does that??? Sorry, but that just is not going to cut it for me. I didn’t finish my taco, and that should tell you something. Ambiance: Awesome. This is their saving grace. Friendly service, friendly people, and they even have a parrot in the kitchen. Makes you wonder… but it’s part of the charm.

The food isn’t bad, and the establishment itself has quite a bit of character. I mean, where else can you order a carne asada burrito, some pupusas and there’s a friggin’ parrot in the kitchen? The place definitely has a feel of El Salvador/Central America to it, in contrast to the Mexican vibe everywhere else on this strip of Middlefield. You would also be wise to learn Spanish before venturing in(or bring someone that speaks Spanish), because I don’t think the ladies that cook here speak mucho Ingles.

She makes FRESH Papusas, need I say more?! The area surrounding this restaurant looks sketchy, but I felt totally safe! Elizabeth(I’m assuming the lady who made the food and worked the register also owns the restaurant) is really sweet and always smiling. Food here is cheap, fresh and tasty. Oh and one more plus, they clearly state in their menu that they have vegetarian options!

I’m confused, I think their business cards say«Elizabeth Restaurant» and not«Food.» I went when no one was there… I was suuuuper hungry and my rehearsal studio is just around the block. Despite the fact the girl working and I couldn’t understand each other at all, we both had a good laugh and she totally understood the changes I wanted to make to my burrito. Even though it seemed outside her element, it was still pretty durn good.

A bit divey from both the inside and outside but fairly large for the area. They have a sign with Taco De Oro which is not to be confused with the actual place called Taco Del Oro nearby. The specialize in both Mexican and Salvadorean food so I was able to get my pupusa and taco fix in the same place. I went for one chicharron pupusa and three tacos of asada, lengua, and cabeza. My co-worker went for some sort of chicken dish that had a grilled, pounded breast with rice, beans and salad which he really enjoyed. The tacos were excellent and so were the pupusas and I’m going to have to say this place might rank in the top five of taquerias we’d been to in the area. The place looks like it’s run by just a mother and daughter who are fairly friendly. Red checkered table cloths over beat up furniture, a jukebox and some tv’s that were off round out the décor. As I said before this place isn’t too much to look at but the fodd is really good. 4.5 stars.
