Nothing makes me feel more nauseated than trying to acquire a new skill, except trying to acquire a new skill that results in a permanent, serious alteration to my home. Earl at the Redwood City PBM was so kind and helpful, it made most of my project-​nausea go away. I am in no way a contractor, their target market, but Earl did not talk down to me. Instead, he talked me through the exact steps I needed to take with the exact tools and materials, confirming with real-​world experience what I’d been learning via books and the internet. He helped me place an order that ensured I had everything I needed (and nothing I didn’t need, which was also great), scheduled a flawless materials delivery (which went off without a hitch), helped me to make a short list of rental equipment that would make my job go a LOT more smoothly, helped me to make a slightly longer list of items that were necessary for purchase (just not at PBM), and finally, made a painstaking assessment of the stone I’d chosen, talking about the qualities, available form factors, minimum dimensions and maximum weights to boost my chances of a truly successful outcome.
The stuff Earl told me was legit; I used my burgeoning masonry skills alongside several actual expert masonry contractors to complete the job, and the techniques they were using mirrored what Earl said earlier (pun unintentional). The results were awesome. If the Fates smile upon me, I will come back to PBM of RWC over and over again until my entire house is made of stone, right down to the toothbrush holders.

Great service from Sergio. He went out of his way and spent time hunting down my rock. Nothing was a problem and gave good alternate suggestions.
It seems they have a good supply of pamphlets and were happy to share.

I had a good experience on this day buying materials at this establishment. These guys were friendly and took the time to hunt stuff down for me. They take no hesitation to load everything on my truck. Their prices are a bit higher but for the much better service than the other place I’ve been to VERY recently, the higher price is worth it. Parking here is not good and there are a lot of heavy trucks constantly passing through so you need to be very careful where you walk and park. Five stars overall from me.

These people know their business. I was in search of a special type of stone for a project at home and after looking everywhere I found Peninsula Building Materials Co. The employees are extremely knowledgeable about their products and the variety is amazing. With that many choices I had to have knowledgeable assistance and I got it.
I was more than satisfied with the expertise and assistance PBM offered me.

Wow! Worst customer service I have ever experienced in my entire life! Nobody helped us select any products or would even show us where the products were that we had to select from. When we asked questions they would just stare at us and hand us a pamphlet. The stones looked nothing like the real product we found out in the yard. We ended up selecting pavers on our own. Nobody gave us any prices and never told us that we needed to bring the pallets back when we’re done for a $ 15 per pallet return fee. We will never go back to this store ever. Customer service was non-​existent.

I recently went to Peninsula Building Materials to buy concrete sealer for my stamped concrete patio. I didn’t want to buy the cheap stuff from the chain hardware stores. I came into the shop as a normal consumer and from the surroundings you can tell this is the type of store meant for Contractor’s and Building companies. I walked in and there were a handful of people working behind the counter. I noticed the sealer right in front of the store and started looking at the selection. Very quickly, an employee came over to help out. He was very knowledgable and asked me about the type of concrete I had and the type of sealer I was looking to buy. I had done a lot of research so knew what I wanted but he definitely confirmed what I had read on the web. I was still undecided on two sealers so he mentioned he had a sample that I could try out before I bought the sealer. Took the quart home, tried it out and went back for the purchase. Great customer service and good selection of products. Note the hours of business as they are not open on weekends which seemed to be the only downside to this place.

As a Concrete and Stone contractor I have found that they go above and beyond to get me what I want… Great Job
