I’ve had a unit at Public Storage on E. Bayshore Rd. for many years and found it to be adequate. However, recently my unit was robbed. Irreplaceable memorabilia and other items were taken. I found out when I went to get one of the items that was taken and the lock was changed. I went to the office and was then informed that my unit was broken into. They did not inform me prior to that. When I asked them when the robbery occurred they could not tell me. They also didn’t have a record of when they changed the lock. The only security they have is the coded gate with no cameras inside the buildings. They’re good at raising rents every year, but security in the place is virtually nonexistent.

Well managed facility. Cost starts out low, but every 9 to 12 months, they raise the fee by 12 to 18%. Eddie and Jennifer are doing a good job keeping the place running.

You should think twice about this place. Our unit was broken into, not sure how they did it as the locks were not cut. Eddie said it has never happened before. I called the police to make a report and the officer said that it happens often. He has been called several times for burglary in the past. There are no cameras, I was told that they were going to be put up, that was over 6 months ago and nothing.
The insurance company that you have to pay… has yet to reimburse us. They wanted receipts and or pictures of the items that were stolen… who keeps receipts or pictures of items that are over 3+ years old? I think the insurance company is a scam and Public storage probably gets a percentage.
I had notice a few men wandering the premises, they kind of looked homeless. I reported that to the manager and he did nothing.
If you are going to store your stuff, you should look for a place that has security cameras and read their reviews. I should of done that before, lesson learned!

If Unilocal allowed negative stars, this Public Storage facility would get it. Our lockers have been broken in three times and thou$ands in family heirlooms and valuables stolen. I have lost track but I think management has cut our locks seven times because payment was late during the two years I was in Afghanistan and the one year I was unemployed after returning.
One saving grace is the on-​sight management team including Eddy and Dorian. They are the best!

I was spending over $ 800 a month with increases pretty often, on two units for over four years at Seaport Storage when I fell behind on the rent like for the third time in four years. But this last time they were fed up with me and my Cancer problems and they auctioned off my 10×30 unit without notifying me of the correct day to bring my money. I will never forgive them and all my personal private stuff including baby albums are gone. This is how I met Eddie at Public Storage on East Bayshore. I begged Seaport to call the buyer and ask for my personal property but they refused to do it and when I wasn’t a renter anymore I was treated with disrespect. I drove down the street to Public Storage all in tears and spoke to Eddie about my dilemma. Eddie explained that if the worst possible thing happens to you at Public Storage as it did with me at Seaport, Eddie said that this company at least has the compassion to get your personal property back. I feel like that is the ethical and human thing to do. We all have our financial issues and now that I am divorced and alone it is a struggle to make all ends meet sometimes. Eddie understands the customers and treats them all with the same respect. I would never go to any other storage facility other than Public Storage ever again because being privately owned doesn’t mean they are better. I went through fighting an illness for quite some time and Eddie knows that I don’t always see the email from Public Storage reminding me of the payment due. But Eddie goes above and beyond by making a call to me and reminding me of what the late fee will be if I go past a certain day. You have no idea what that means to me. Eddie does not bend any rules he just enforces them with integrity and respect. I spent over $ 30,000 at the other place and was treated like a stranger and I have only known Public Storage, Eddie for 13 months and I feel like we have been working together forever. Sure you can spend a lot more money and go down the street but just make sure you read their fine fine print on the contract. You could lose your memories like me and have no recourse due to a private owner and his attorney. When Eddie takes his well deserved days off or his vacation, there is always a person taking his place with the same level of integrity and excellent customer service which I have come to admire in a company this big. The move in deals are incredible and the rent is affordable. And Public Storage is EVERYWHERE !!! I should of done my research rather than trust a Realtors recommendation when he had not even used that other place. Well hindsight is ²⁰⁄₂₀. So in a nutshell, please go visit Public Storage because you will be treated with respect at any one of the locations here in the bay area.

I had 2 storages here for about few months and yesterday I moved out my stuff. Unfortunately, I lost one of my keys and Eddie, who was there when we moved in, even recognized my husband’s first name, helped me to cut off the lock. He is so polite, professional, calm and helpful. I had to leave the place for a few hours with the broken lock and he ensured me that he will take care of my stuff and check my storage very often. He is an awesome guy and made my stressful moving day much easier. Thanks so much Eddie, your the BEST!

My husband and I had a great experience today working with Dorian as we signed up for our unit. The rate was competitive and they were very easy and professional to work with. We’re very happy so far!

Dorian and Eddy were awesome in helping me get set up super quick! They even stayed after hours to make sure I got access that day. Easy process and great prices and units. Definitely recommend.

I dropped in to purchase some boxes for moving day. Staff at the desk were very friendly. Andrew was the person who assisted me– I wasnt sure what sizes to buy, he was very helpful and went out of his way to carry the boxes to my car as well without having to ask for assistance.

I had a storage unit here for over a year. The management was great, Eddie was always pleasant and helpful. When it came time to move out, he very clearly explained what date I was paid through, and how the unit would be pro-​rated if I stayed into the next month. I was able to plan my move without incurring any extra charges.
Their rates are also very good, and my indoor unit was easy to access. It also stayed cool year round, which was an unexpected bonus!

I came to move my stuff. I forgot my code, they were very attentive and got me in quickly. Friendly nice experience. Told them a cart had a faulty wheel and they were happy to hear about it so they could get it fixed quickly.

Man this guy Eddie is amazing. I went back after a month because I had lost the keys to one unit. He not only remembered my name, but was quick to dig out the unit numbers and give the exact options I had. I was in and out in 10 minutes. No hassle no confusion no fuss. Way to go Eddie!

The front office staff at this Public Storage location are great! They are courteous and look out for their customers. While doing their daily rounds the other day, they noticed that our storage unit didn’t close properly and took initiative and added an extra lock to it to help secure it. Thanks guys for looking out!

This is a terrible facility. There are no security cameras, the area it’s in is very sketchy, it’s dirty and the lighting is truly awful. In order to operate the gate you must get out of your car and manually key the code in. It would have been much safer to be able to drive up to the gate, stay in your car and key in your code that way. If your things mean a lot to you I wouldn’t store them here and I definitely wouldn’t store things of value here, they get a lot of break-​ins.

WARNING: COPS SAY THEFT HERE WEEKLY.
I stored my stuff here and have a lock recommended by the company. I had my stuff stolen (~$ 1000 worth or more) and the site manager was very helpful and called the cops so I could file a report. The unit next to mine was also burgled and while I was filing my report another cop was dealing with a separate case across the compound. Thats 3 thefts in one day WTF? I just happened to be at my unit to pick something up and there is already a cop on the scene dealing with someone else when I notice my unit burglarized. The cop explains to me they are at this facility TWICE A WEEK FOR THEFT! One officer said the thieves have been known to break the lock mechanism or remove the rivets holding the lock mechanism in place then replace them so you wont notice. The company could easily fix this by upgrading the units or installing a security camera system or have a security guard but they wont do it. Someone even mentioned that it could be an inside job at this particular facility as there is a long history of thefts here. I am not sure whats going on here but you should not use this facility as they have an EPIDEMIC OF THEFT AND WILL NOT ADDRESS IT! This can easily be fixed if they would take security seriously. I am going to immediately move my stuff and I am going to make sure to use a company that takes their clients security seriously.

Not only shouldn’t you store stuff here, don’t even BUY stuff here. I went over this afternoon to buy a few storage boxes. They pointed back to a display at the rear of the office. The one labeled «medium» looked like a file box to me. They went out to get them and brought a stack of unfolded boxes. Fine. I paid cash, and they were going to give me a receipt but after waiting for the slob at the computer longer than I could handle, I said forget it, I can live without it, and left — happy and pleasant.

5 minutes later I arrive home and my wife goes, «These aren’t file boxes, I have to return them. And off she goes. And the same lady who sold them to says they have no file boxes and don’t do refunds without a receipt. Policy. Big argument ensues. How many people bought 5 boxes in the last 10 minutes. «Can’t find any record of the sale». What??? Redneck comes back into office. Same conversation. Policy. Then can’t find record of sale. Then «take this form home and have husband sign it» «I’m his wife, can’t I sign it». No, it was his credit card!!! BUT HE PAID CASH!!! Oh.
The story gets worse, but eventually wife gets my $ 16. Redneck says «Next time ask for file boxes. No returns». Yeah, next time.
By the way, the big sign on the counter is not «no refunds» it is «BUY INSURANCE to protect stuff stored here from theft, damage, flooding». Quality Establishment…

Had this storage for a year they have grat customer service at this location, very affordable as well
