Sleep Number

We have now owned our Sleep Number i8 bed for 15 months. When we placed our first service call, the customer service rep, Tom, looked our account up, knew exactly what we had installed. He placed the warranty service call request, and we heard from a local service person soon thereafter. Just exactly what should happen in a telephone call for support.
Service was here when expected, performed the needed repair, checked the bed for any other problems, and fixed them at no charge. They were in and out in less than 30 hard-​at-​work minutes.

I have to be a fan of this place because my husband and I walked in to find our numbers and left with a king sized bed. Just a heads up, this is not the type of place you can walked in and walk out. If you go, make sure you give yourself time to experience the whole thing. Basically you walk in and a sales person greets you and spends a lot of time with you explaining everything and anything you want to know about a Sleep Number bed. It’s good if you are really interested to buy but they are not pushy so don’t worry, you won’t be stuck. You can graciously bow out anytime but just know that someone will be with you explaining everything, you can’t just go roaming and testing stuff which is better — trust me. Dolin at Sleep Number was able to help us out and find us exactly what we needed. He is great, ask for him should you go! Thanks Dolin for everything!

The showroom and sales experience was OK. I wish I would have waited to purchase and read the terms and conditions much more carefully They might have been verbally explained to me but there was a really key point I did not grasp. I got a top of the line bed set and felt assured I had a 100-​day return policy. Obviously not on the bedding items. After two months I have decided this isn’t the perfect bed for me. Feels more like a deluxe blow up camping mattress. I called to talk about options for return and they talked about all the modifications they could offer to try and make me happy and keep the bed. All my concerns are not fixable, it’s just a personal choice.
Here’s what surprised me. They will take back the mattress but NOT the adjustable base and remotes. The adjustable base and remotes cost $ 2,999.99. YES, $ 3000!!! I have to suck up that loss unless I choose to use the base with any new mattress I buy. The base and electronics are one of the reasons this is NOT the perfect bed for me. I am stuck. This is in the terms and conditions that it is not returnable. I was given a printed copy of this but apparently did not understand it at the time of purchase. Their customer service via email and phone is very responsive but they are taking a hard line about sticking to their terms about not being able to accept a return on the adjustable base. Very expensive lesson for me and I am absolutely NOT a satisfied customer. Sucking up for a $ 3000 item I don’t want is painful and I feel very stupid.
Again, lesson: READ TERMS BEFORE BUYING!!! Fully comprehend return policy.
To further add insult, I have to pay $ 200 to ship the mattress back. Not able to return to the store.

The process is time consuming but informative and detailed. Geo who was referred to us by my girlfriend chiropractor was great and bought based on his product detail and comfort. It is a bit pricey bit I look at this as an investment. I highly recommend these guys!

While I agree with Johnny’s review of the Sleep Number mattresses for comfort, we were turned off by some of the hidden costs in the purchase of the mattress.
First, be prepared to spend at least two plus hours in being evaluated for your sleep number, having the technology of the mattresses explained in great detail, and then testing at least three mattresses of increasing quality and price. (We were at the store two and a half hours while the sales manager juggled between us and other customers.)
The showroom is large and offers a number of mattress choices. This sleep number store also sells pillows, sheets, bed frames and other accessories that you will be invited to buy as part of the deal.
Although we shopped during a $ 250-​off promotion, we were disappointed to see our discount evaporate once the $ 220 total protection mattress cover (required to protect your mattress from spills or stains which are not covered by the mattress warranty), and a $ 170 delivery charge (even though we live less than five miles from the showroom). When we balked at the high delivery fee, which had not been mentioned before check-​out, we were told that we could not pick-​up the mattress from the store since the mattress is directly shipped from Salt Lake City. By the end of the sale we had forked over $ 3,750 for the mattress and cover, and this price did not include a box spring support or frame.
Buying a mattress shouldn’t be as time-​consuming as buying a car. We will hope the quality of the adjustable mattress makes up for the sales tactics at this store.
Post note: when the bed was delivered, the crew was not able to drill a hole in the bed platform for air supply. We had been told twice the crew would take care of this for the $ 170 service charge.
You should also note that beds come with only one control device even though every display bed in the store features two controls on either side of the bed. I feel really misled by Sleep Number.

This review is a 5-​sleeping-​stars review for Sleep Number in Redwood City and Leslie who helped me find my perfect bed.
First off, Sleep Number beds are not like any other bed you will lay on. You will need to go to their store and try them for yourself. My eager new bed hunt ended up with the choice between a Sleep Number or a Tempur Pedic bed. I tried many beds and narrowed it down to 1 model from each to grande finale choose from.
Both brands are expensive. There is no real way to work around this unless you buy during a really good sale but even then it may not be the bed you are in love with from that brand. You have to find the bed that works best for you. You will know it when you lay on it because you will not want to get off and eventually the sales person will have to tell you it’s time to go because the store is now closing. If you are like me you will outstay your welcome but if the sales person is nice they will let you rest at ease. if you have taken a little nappy snoozle on your dream bed and even drooled some on the pillow protectors they put on your pillow (keeps things sanitary, thank you for doing this!) then they should take it as a compliment that you have embraced the bed and experience. Please bring your eye pillow and a «Do Not Disturb» sign and go test beds like Goldilocks tested porridge. You will find one that is «just right» and you will know it.

The heart of Sleep Number beds is the sleep number feature which allows you to control the level of firmness — softness of your mattress. Firm starts at 100 and you can decrease it down to 0 (softest) using your bed’s remote control. It’s really neat. When you first get to the store a sales person will help you find your special sleep number so that you can use it on their floor beds to find your perfect fit. My sales person was named Leslie. Go down there and ask for her or call to see if she is working. Trust me, she will help you out and hook you up.
When you first get to the store you will be given your own pillow to carry around with you and a protector so your cooties don’t get on the pillow to give other people cooties or their cooties do not find a way to manifest themselves over to your head, thank you very much. You go from human to science project in 10 seconds flat… this means you get on a 3D-​computorized bed that allows you to see what is happening on a screen as you lay on a Sleep Number bed and adjust the remote control You will find what number feels most comfortable for you and that will be your special sleep number. After you have settled on your perfect number you will see on a screen where your body pressure/​tension was before using the remote and adjusting numbers and then after once you found your sleep number. They will offer to email you a copy as well.
Now that you’ve gotten your golden ticket to bed hopping (your sleep number) you can go bed hop and adjust the bed’s remotes to your sleep number or any number for that matter. It’s handy to know your number though and use it first before playing with the remote like a new toy on Christmas.
Leslie listened to all my needs and recommended a few beds until I found the one that had me wondering «where have you been my whole life?»… Ladies, I know you hear me on this one. Ever met «Mr Right» who was willing to do your dishes, rub your feet at night and run away to fart instead of pollute the air in front of you? That’s when you know he is a keeper. Well, when you find your perfect bed it’s the same thing. You’ve found your Mr Right, only this big guy comes with a 20 year warranty, ha! Hey, men are unpredictable beds do not have to be.
The bed I liked the most and purchased was the Sleep Number m7 Memory Foam series. I added the adjustable option with head and foot lift, pre set positions (think cruise control of adjustable beds) and vibrating massage… threw in a down pillow and I am one happy camper who will be camping out in my bed a lot more now!
My Mother bought this bed for me. It was well over time to invest in a quality bed that wasn’t going to give out on me a few years after buying. We have spent so much money on beds and with my fragile back health it’s not worth it to get another bammer bed. I compared beds before making any wise decision. The bed we bought is the one I had my heart set on. I am one lucky son, let’s just say that.
I will not talk prices because a sale for us today may be a different sale for you another day… prices are always changing based on sales. I also don’t want to discourage you from at least going to the Sleep Number store and trying their beds. You can get an idea of costs on their website to get a better idea of what you are up against financially. They do offer financial plans though, that’s hope for some.
In my humble opinion, these beds are like cream of the crop caviar and worth the investment. You just have to go try them. Go to the RWC store and ask for Leslie! You’ll love her and your new bed!
