Love their burgers. Place can get busy and loud at times, but its worth it. You can also call ahead for pick up.

4.5 stars but rounding up. This is one of the best new burger joints I’ve been to in a while! The interior is very modern pub style and you order at the counter and they bring you your food when it’s ready. I actually placed my order to-go and just came it to pick it up, and it was ready in the 10 minutes they said it would be. I just had the classic Cheeseburger($ 7.55 + Bacon $ 1, ) and it was delicious! The bacon was nice and crispy, and the burger patty was seasoned well. They have a good selection of gourmet burgers to choose from, so I will definitely be back to check those out! Parking can be tough during the lunch and dinner rush in this area, but street parking is available.

I really wanted to like this place. It’s a family run burger and beer spot in RWC with decent prices. But I’m not sure if we showed up on an off night or if things are really just going down hill here lately. We arrived on a Saturday night around 630pm. They were busy but still had a few open tables, so not totally maxed out. We placed our order at the counter, the girl running the register could not answer any of our questions«How large is the side of mac and cheese?» «What beers do you have on tap?» «Should we order beers here or at the bar?» etc. I felt bad for her, thought maybe she was new, so I stopped asking questions and just placed my best guess of an order. We sat down and proceeded to watch the most stressful staff I’ve experienced at any restaurant. There was no bar tender and the same guy running the bar orders was running the food orders out. He was clearly stressed, cursing under his breath as he ran back and forth to the kitchen. It’s one thing to be super busy, but try to keep your composure in front of other customers. People started asking for a refund so they could leave. It was getting ugly. We weren’t in any rush so we decided to wait it out. 30 min in, still no beers and still no food. At least bring us our beers while we wait, right? Eventually two other people(mom and dad?) showed up to start helping. They brought us our food, but still no beers or silverware. When we asked for silverware, I could see the lady wandering around in the back looking for it, checking the dirty dish bin and she brought us plastic forks instead from the take-out section without any apology or explanation. And when we asked for our beers she pushed us off to another person to help us, so we had to wait even longer. They were out of the beers we originally ordered, so we ordered something else — which they were also out of. So we settled for our third choice beer. Again no apology, just a ‘here you go.‘ Everyone in the place was in a horrible mood, from the customers to the workers. We finished our food and left in a really bad mood too. I’ve never been compelled to leave a bad review until now. It was bad guys. I get it, there are off nights, but you should always at least apologize, if not offer your customers something to make good, a free beer, side of fries, a coupon, something. I won’t be back.

Sitting here at Patty Shack writing this review. It’s Tuesday, before New Years and it wasn’t busy at all. Took mins before someone acknowledged us. Took our order and we tried paying with a credit card and she said it was down. But guess what the people behind us got to use their credit card. I’ve been sitting here for 30 mins and no food. They only have one chef cooking and they’ve got orders for take out but we haven’t gotten our food yet. How do you only have one chef!!! It’s still a work week for some people. The slowest week and they can’t get food out to their customers. And the place isn’t even jammed with people. The food finally showed up and no apologies. Got the fuhgitaboutit burger with onion rings. The burger was nothing special at all. The onion rings were terrible. They said all the burgers are cooked medium. Well it came out medium rare. It was so pink and bleeding onto the plate. For me I don’t mind that but because the chef can’t keep up he’s trying to get the food out. SAD! And the restaurant was so cold. It was warmer outside then inside.

Very poor customer service experience. First they refused my Entertainment Book coupon, implying that it was not valid. Then, our fries came out a full 15 minutes after our burgers. Woman’s bathroom door would not close, no toilet seat covers, and absolutely NOSOAP in the restroom. I will not be back again.

No stars is more accurate. This place is down the street from my house and we frequently place to-go orders. It’s been going downhill in quality, cleanliness, order accuracy annnnnd service lately. When calling in, good luck speaking to someone who understands English. Took 20 minutes to order, then a credit card number was DEMANDED… Under more professional circumstances i wouldn’t have thought twice. They said they couldn’t make my food without it. Absurd. I show up 10 min later and of course, they didn’t make my order and the manager was all too happy to be very rude about their«new policy» maybe if the staff was more professional and interested in customer service I would still be a regular here. However this is just another basic peninsula burger joint with shitty service to top it all off. In n out is a better option.

Wasn’t really impressed. The food was fine, but nothing special. I had heard this was a really good burger place, but felt underwhelmed after trying it.

Came here for lunch today not sure what to expect. This place definitely exceeded my expectations! I ordered a Mac & cheese sandwich and the Garlic fries are amazing, definitely a must try. The food was pretty good for the price which is still pretty affordable for a quick lunch break. Highly recommend this place to anyone trying to find a savory lunch

Craving a burger? The Patty Shack has so many flavor combinations I’m sure you’ll find one that will satisfy your craving. We started off with fried pickles. I’m not usually a fan of pickles, but these were pretty good. The basket of garlic fries was more than enough for me, my husband & daughter. They were so good; they give the garlic fries at AT&T park a run for their money. Usually when we go out to eat, my daughter chooses either mac & cheese or grilled cheese. Here, she could have both in one! And it was nice & cheesy! My husband really liked the Spicy Burger. I had the Fuhgedaboutit. It was good but had way too many onions & not enough mushrooms, in my opinion. This is definitely a place I’d come back to.

I don’t often times find myself in Redwood City, but after an unfortunate event I had to drive the bf down here for a midweek client on-site. No matter, I can be bribed with lunch! And the lunch at The Patty Shack was delicious! The restaurant layout is pretty nice, with ample table seating and a bar area to one side with TVs for all the Bay Area sports-watching you’ll need. We ordered at the counter a couple of burgers, a side of regular French fries, and a couple fountain drinks. I would have happily imbibed in their excellent draft beer selection(helloooo Deschutes Fresh Squeezed IPA! I see you over there!) if I had not been sick and driving back to SF afterwards. My boyfriend had the My Boy Blue burger and thought it tasted excellent. I ordered a plain cheddar cheeseburger because my burger/pizza palate is that of a 5 year old. It also gives the burger a chance to shine without the glitz and glamour of toppings, which this burger excelled in. Very well-seasoned and perfectly medium! The French fries came out hot and fresh; a standard basket of fries, but they tasted a-ok. One basket was more than enough for two people. If I find myself inevitably back in Redwood City, you can bet I’ll be back here to have a tasty burger and fresh brew.

Really good burgers and fries. Solid service. Our food came out exceptionally fast. Perfect for an afternoon bite or a beer during the game.

Patty shack burgers are some of my favorite burgers because they embody what a thoughtful and quality burger should be! Their patties are thick, juicy, full of flavor, and yet tender. Their different varieties show that their menu was created with uniqueness in mind. Their ingredients taste fresh and are put together with such care and consistency. You really can’t go wrong with any of the burgers you choose. Just look at what is in side them and pick the one whose ingredients you fancy. They also have some great milkshakes but the nutella one tastes like oreo so I guess those two are interchangeable. The setting of the restaurant is great as a sports bar or if you want to grab a quick burger to go. There are 5+ huge screened HD tv and that is a good thing if you’re there to cheer on your favorite team!

I like the Patty Shack. I really do. I like that it’s a local place with a casual, burger spot-meets-sports bar feel. I also really appreciate the fantastic tap list(18 beers!), with a high percentage of microbrews. But when you’re a burger place, you really need to have a focus on fantastic, high-quality BURGERS to get a above average rating from me. But I find the burgers here to be the height of mediocrity. Or to be more truthful: slightly below mediocrity. I have good friends who rave about the Patty Shack and love the burgers. I’ve tried. I really have. I’ve now been here dozens of times, but I just can’t get there. The only burger here I’ve tried that moves my «delicious meter» into positive territory is the«FuggetAboutIt» burger, which piles on bacon, swiss and mushrooms. Definitely tasty. But that’s cheating. A plain hamburger or cheeseburger needs to stand on it’s own; without lots of extra toppings added. And the plain burgers from Patty Shack are about 4 out of 10 on my burger scale. Two stars for the food, plus an extra star for the beer list.

I would give this place 3 ½ stars if Unilocal allowed me to. Very casual burger joint in RWC. The burgers and sandwiches are pretty good. The last one I had was the Reuben which was pretty nicely done. But the dish that sticks out from the others is the onion rings. I think they use beer in the batter which imparts a very nice flavor. I have a soft spot for onion rings and I would be hard-pressed to find better ones in the Bay Area.

I’m pretty sure the first time you visit this place you’re supposed to order a burger… alas I did not because the BLTA was calling my name. Too bad, though the BLTA was good, I have no doubt their burgers would have been better. We also ordered some wings but the wife wanted them without sauce so it wasn’t the same. Next time I will definitely get a burger– I mean the joint is called the Patty Shack!

Stopped here for a burger after reading the reviews. There was both good and bad. The good: The burger was really good, as were the garlic fries and onion rings. The cooks seem to know their business. The bad: There is no perking around this place. I was irritated before I even walked in. The restaurant itself is more of a bar with a walk up food order area. The person taking our order took at least 15 minutes pecking at the register while taking our order. We had to tell him several times what we wanted. The other staff didn’t seem to want to help. The place was a little dirty in the dining room and needed to be swept. Overall, the food is really good, but the experience sucks. I would do take out if you really want to eat here.

Wow. So good! Expensive, but really tasty. I love the sweet potato fries, and the soups they offer are amazing. I am not sure they are gluten free, but they taste great and thank god for digestive enzymes. The burgers are good size, excellent choices for toppings and flavors, and you can get it with lettuce as well.
