I have seen Dr. Vicky Yang several times. She is different! She greets her patient at the door which shows her sincerity towards the person she is going to see. I like the way she communicates with her patient which is opened, clear and relaxed. Seeing her is somewhat an enjoyable experience to me!

I went to Dr. Yang for some severe digestive issues. At the time I was unable to eat without getting serve abdominal pains(gastritis). Both Dr. Yang and her assistant Joanna were very nice and personable. However I was completely misdiagnosed and the issue was left untreated. Dr. Yang had me under go an endoscopy for my symptoms. Afterwards I was told that she did not find anything wrong and that I was fine. I was prescribed Nexium and advised to avoid spicy foods and alcohol because of the gastritis. But there was no further investigation into what was causing the gastritis. Nexium only works by covering up the under lying issue and not address it. It also has long term side effects. After much suffering and more specialists I went to a functional medicine doctor, Dr.Husbands. He ordered the proper tests and diagnosed me with IBD. He had me go on special diet eliminating certain food groups and I IMMEDIATELY felt better and am now on the road to recovery. It still amazes me that a doctor who«specializes» in the digestive tract would immediately seek out prescription medication instead of diet and nutrition!

I was disappointed with a prior GI doctor due to misdiagnosis and inappropriate prescription, but Dr. Yang figured it out and has helped stabilize things. I’ve seen her for both pancreatitis and colitis. Both were disturbing to deal with(in different ways), but I felt very reassured by my interactions with her and with her presentation of treatment options. She communicates well(calmly, knowledgeably, pleasantly) and arranges for her assistant to follow up after appointments. There can be a little waiting(typically 20 min. or so), but I’m an impatient patient and she’s worth the wait.

I was getting ready to turn 50 and knew it was time for a colonoscopy. Dr. Yang was on my provider list so I went to her. I am glad I did as she sat down with me and fully explained everything about the procedure, the prep and what to expect in layman’s terms. I was still a little nervous but on the day of the procedure in Atherton, which is a beautiful facility she told me this is the easiest part. The next thing I knew I was waking up in the recovery room. I did have a polyp, she removed it and I am all done. Dr. Yang was great and turned what I thought would be a bad experience into a just fine experience !
