A personal chef? I thought it sounded too extravagant and expensive. But it is the perfect solution for That Special Occasion. Our group of friends often hosts themed dinner parties. The trouble is – when you are the host – you are so consumed with cooking, cleaning, and making sure everyone has a cocktail – you don’t have any time left to actually enjoy your guests. Enter the idea of a personal chef! I was so excited to find West Coast Personal Chef on Unilocal. My friend chose a Spanish theme for our intimate dinner party of eight and Chris helped her create an original and delicious meal that none of us will ever forget. Chris has a degree from the Culinary Institute New York and has more than 18 years experience. In other words – you are hiring an incredible chef to prepare delicious food in the comfort of your own home. Chris and his assistant prepared three hors d’oeuvres: bruschetta with goat cheese, an avocado salad, and a tender halibut ceviche. Next we sat down and enjoyed a chilled gazpacho soup and then an heirloom tomato salad with fresh mozzarella. Our entrée was fall-off-the-bones braised short ribs with a mushroom risotto. Chris even made a special meat-less lasagna for the vegetarian in our group. To top it all off, Chris made a «dessert» tray with fruits and Spanish cheeses(imagine Manchego paired with quince and blue cheese with ripe figs.) Chris cost $ 250, plus the cost of food. He was worth every cent!
