Frequently eat here for business. Superb food and service. They are meticulous even with take-out; have never had a botched order. Check out their amazing daily specials. The only thing I can say negatively is that the restaurant is in an historic building. The charm and ambiance are terrific, however, the flooring in the front rooms can be a little wonky and the walkways are narrow. An elderly guest using a walker had difficulty navigating it during a special event we attended there. I’d recommend keeping to the dining room near the main entrance(which happens to be the back of the building) to avoid that problem. Otherwise, this place is the best in Northern Baltimore County!

My family and I have been going to Harryman House for several years, and I don’t have anything bad to say about it! Excellent service, entertaining bar area, and fresh farm-to-table meals have kept us coming back. The ambiance is quaint and fitting as well. Try the beet salad, burgers, and fish entrees are all highly recommended. Go here to have a fantastic family dinner or to hang at the bar!

Few years ago we visited this place the first time and had not so memorable experience. This time it was really great one. The ambiance was rustic but cozy, the food was tasting great(though entrees were a bit salty for our taste buds) and was quite creative, the service was right on point and nice, and the value was beyond great with Crazy John’s deal going on now. If you want a relaxing but kind of fine dining experience around this area you won’t find any better place then this one. We are definitely planning to return and recommend this restaurant to everyone.

Harryman House used to be a great place but the last few times I’ve been have been so-so. Food was rather bland(salmon for me) and overcooked(steak for friend). The service is rushed now too. Our waitress was friendly but she seemed to want us to finish our appetizers within minutes of serving them so she could serve our entrees and get us out. Also, on one visit, we saw a family of four walk out after being ignored for 20 – 25 minutes after being seated. Not sure what the problem is but I doubt we’ll ever go back. It’s a shame too because they used to be great.

This bar is a hot spot. We met Mary of Tavern on the Hill, in Mount Vernon, and Farmer Tom, Tom Reynolds while eating dinner. The atmosphere here is good for this. The wine and mixed drinks are excellent. We had the fried green tomatoes appetizer and it was unique: with black eyed peas on top. The Chicken entrée was served on a cutting board. It was savory and delicious… The mustard sauce«gravy» made the dish. My honey had the short ribs and it was amazingly tender with a delicious flavor. Music, football and people friendly place! The service at the bar was amazing and if you’re there at the right time you may get an oatmeal cookie! But keep your eye on it!

We came here for a family dinner on Christmas Eve. We really enjoyed our food and our waiter was attentive and efficient. We all enjoyed our various entrees and appetizers. For dessert, we had bananas foster and it was great! I will say, we’ve been coming here for over a decade and we love it, the only room for improvement is the front desk staff. I have always found them very cold and unfriendly.

I made a reservation for two for my boyfriends birthday. He loves cheescake and I didn’t see it on the menu so I requested to see if it was possible anyway. We arrived and were seated promptly at a cozy table for two in the rustic looking room that had log cabin walls. The ambiance was very nice, we never felt hurried. We both started with salads, he had the Ceasar and I had the Autumn type salad which was absolutely delightful. I had the filet mignon, which was cooked just as I requested and my boyfriend had Osso Bucco. We both enjoyed our meals very much. When we were finished, our waitress brought out a piece of Oreo Cheesecake with a birthday candle on it! It was perfect evening. We will definitely be back!

We had been years ago and we always were satisfied. Perhaps that was under different ownership, as «Grill at…» was a new name to us. The place looked the same inside, but the menu and particularly the presentation of the food, has changed over the years. The food is of solidly high quality and the kitchen seems to have an imaginative flair, but value-oriented diners should look elsewhere. New American Cuisine meets the tapas bar. Arguably, the portions at Grill at Harryman House(GAHH) are sized for what a health-conscious patron should eat. There is a trend in the restaurant business that top dollar can be commanded and profits can be turned if small portions are served very prettily on little plates in an elegant setting. If the plates are smaller, ounces of food per square inch of plate area is maximized, as are profits(dollars per ounce served). With prices ranging through the $ 20s for entrees, we expected more than appetizer-sized morsels. Burgers, pizzas or salads are the better value here. What they do entrée-wise, they do well, but portion sizes are indeed quite modest. No one in our party of six was disappointed and a few were even wowed. Service was competent but the night we visited was not busy.(Curiously, the bar area was quite busy). I can imagine that GAHH works for a romantic date or an important business lunch. But for regular people who half-expect to be taking home a doggy bag for tomorrow’s lunch, well, GAHH does not intend to serve that demographic. With re-calibrated expectations, I might be back as many fellow Unilocalies seem quite happy.

My family and I have been coming to The Grill at Harryman House for years, and it rarely disappoints. My Dad and I went there on Monday, and, as always, we had a wonderful experience. The service was top as they made sure our water glasses were never empty, and they waited a reasonable amount of time between our appetizers and our entrees. Bringing my entrée as I eat my appetizer is one of my biggest pet peeves, and we didn’t have a problem with it here. We didn’t even have to ask. That, sadly, is very rare these days. I ordered the red pepper bisque, and it was delicious. The best part about the soup was the bits of goat cheese they put in the soup. You wouldn’t think that goat cheese and soup mix well, but boy does it. For my entrée, I ordered the mussels appetizer. Believe me, this was enough. The portion was huge, so it was plenty filling. It came in this great pesto sauce, which I was able to sop up with their new, delicious biscuits. I always love coming to The Grill at Harryman House. It’s one of Reisterstown’s best!

Place is great. Their menu is amazing. Huge selection of Bourbons too. We always eat here for lunch when we have vendors in town for business. If you’re looking for a great place to eat in Reisterstown, this is the place.

I have been to Harryman House several times. The food is always good and the drinks are tasty but the service is extremely slow. I have been with large groups and dinner for two and each time we found ourselves looking for the server to order. The servers seems to disappear for an unusually long amount of time. Once we found our server, the service was great until she or he disappeared again. The service in the bar is the best with friendly attentive bartenders. The overall atmosphere is formal yet fun and inviting. I ordered the Shrimp Scampi Pizza and the«Snicker’s» Bar. Both were delicious. The pizza was defiantly meant to be shared with a friend. While the«Snicker’s» bar, I didn’t want to share.

WARNING – YOUWANTHOTFOODANDCOURTEOUSSERVICES — GOELSEWHERE!!! I took my family to this place to celebrate my Mothers Birthday 5÷31÷2015 The food took excessive time to come out of kitchen For a party of just 8, at 4:45PM where there were just a couple other patrons besides ourselves. My parents are elderly and prefer earlier dining time. After 47 minutes of waiting they brought the food out 2 rack of lamb, 2 Strip Steaks, 2 Maryland Crabcakes, 1 Rockfish, 1 Chicken Caesar Salad. Crabcakes were ok, MUCH better at Fresh Market; Caesar salad ok… here’s where it gets ugly… steak came out not even warm, same with lamb, rockfish was overlooked yet also cool. Side dishes of asparagus were a little warm, but fries were cool and stale… it’s like they prepared several main entrees and waited for someone to come in and buy them. I alerted waitress who then sought out a young lady who was purporting to be manager. She said they would take off two appetizers from bill. Keep in mind 5 out of eight entrees were inedible. She left for 10 minutes, came back stating she talked to Mr. Worthington(alleged owner or GM) he never showed his face. The crab dip appetizers were good, they came out hot. When they understood how upset with meal, they brought out a $ 380.00 bill with 18% gratuity I told them 5 entrees were totally unacceptable that re-heating them is not acceptable(I do that with leftovers not freshly cooked food) They then dropped gratuity as a conciliatory move as well as a couple inexpensive appetizers, still a $ 275.00 bill. The manager then stated pay the bill or we will call the police. So I paid by Discover card and disputed bill entirely. The worst dining experience in my 60 years. I would not advise anyone wasting time or money at this eatery. BUYERBEWARE!!!

I recently attended The Grill at Harryman House in Maryland for my mother’s wedding dinner, and I really enjoyed the environment, the service, and finally the food. First, the restaurant was very nice and very comforting. They had us in our own room with an area for appetizers and then a bigger room for our dinner. I really enjoyed the color and how the lighting wasn’t too dark but it wasn’t too bright. When I was there it almost felt like I was in a cabin in the woods because of the wood walls, and also they had some nice light brown and some white. Secondly, the service was very good. My brother’s girlfriend is allergic to shell fish and we had shell fish. We told them about it and they did a great job of practicing safe food handling. The servers were very good with making sure that we had a great time and everything was very good. Every dish came out in a very good time, and we didn’t have to sit and wait forever for our food to come out. They had a set menu so the cooks didn’t have an idea of what we were going to order, and I thought they did a great job of getting the food up. My mother was very happy all night with how well they took care of us, and how happy everyone was about the food. She was also very happy with how she was really taken care of because it was her special day. Finally, the food was amazing, they had a very selective menu for us with steak and crab cakes. If you wanted just steak or crab cakes you could have that. I had their cheese cake and it was to die for. It was very tasty and it was one of the things they are known for. I hate to say it but it was better than the cheesecake factories cheesecake. I really enjoyed the portions that they had. I just wish that the salads they gave us were smaller because they were a bit too much. Everything was well seasoned, and I also really enjoyed that they did a true Maryland Crab Cake which you don’t deep fry, and you pan sear. I was just very happy that the food came out and I really loved it, and so did everyone else. In conclusion, I had a great time at Harryman House in Maryland. The environment was very good. The service was very good for my mom’s special day. Finally the food was good and made me very full.

My parents and I went to Harryman House on May 4th. My parents live in Reisterstown, and I grew up there. We have been to Harryman House before and usually enjoy ourselves. It was the evening before my mother was going to have major surgery, so we were hoping for a special night out. The beginning of our evening started off well. Our waiter took our order, and our food, which was good(as we had come to expect), came out in a reasonable time. But, after we were served our food, not a single person came to check in on us for over 20 minutes. The waiter who served us our food passed by our table multiple times during this interval, but never said a word to us. He only came back when it was time to clear our table and deliver us our check. During those 20+ minutes, no on asked how our food was or offered to refresh our drinks. The waitress serving water also never looked at us once during this time even though she passed by several times. We were the only patrons sitting in the narrow, corridor-like dining area looking out at the driveway, and we felt thoroughly neglected. When we complained to the manager/hostess, she explained that there had been a miscommunication about who was supposed to be taking care of us that evening. Although she apologized for our unpleasant evening, she didn’t do anything else to remedy our poor service experience. She took our number to follow up on our complaint, but no one ever contacted us. The food at Harryman House may be good, but our most recent experience with the service dissuades us from coming back or encouraging our family and friends. There are some other restaurants we’ve been to in town that we’ll be going to instead next time we want a special night out.

The Grill at Harryman House is a great place for dinner AND lunch. A few colleagues of mine took a client out to lunch here and it was a huge WIN. We all ordered something differently and each of us thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the southwest chicken wrap(which doesn’t sound like anything exciting) but the flavor was amazing. Grilled chicken with pepper jack cheese, black bean and avocado salsa, lettuce, tomato, and chipotle ranch dressing was a great combination. My colleague next to me had the salmon tacos and they looked really good too. He raved about how great they were. Lunch was so good I’m bringing my wife back next week so for lunch date too. Highly recommended!

Another great experience here at HarryHouse! If you love food you must come here. This is a place that won’t show up in the tourism rags but you don’t really want to eat at most of those spots. Take it from a local… come here when you’re in MD. If you have to make a drive in order to get to this great spot… don’t hesitate. get in your car and enjoy fellowship over great food. Quote me on this!

We frequent the Reisterstown Road/Main Street often as we don’t live far and have always driven by the grill at Harryman House and have always wanted to dine there. What better time than restaurant week? So glad we came and so angry it took us so long to try it. As self proclaimed foodies, we will definitely be back and are ashamed we haven’t been sooner. Lol

Updated Review: Back to The Grill at Harryman House, bar side, to catch the O’s game tonight. While the parking lot was quite full, I anticipated a packed bar scene and no available tables. Turns out most of the cars were a large group in the dining room and the bar had a couple of empty tables to grab a bite to eat. Quick service, good food, no complaints. Excellent service by James. All I really wanted was a burger, but I didn’t want the standard burger laid out on the menu, so they just piled on the toppings and made me exactly what I wanted. My husband tried their taco special, beef, chicken, and fish. He liked all three, but the fish was his favorite. If he ordered it again, he said he would get all three fish tacos.

I have dined at Harryman House several times since my original review. Every time the food is pretty good, although some it has become a bit hit or miss. On two difference occasions we dined there for burger night, in which the burgers were all flavorful and juicy. However, we also dined at Harryman House on mussel night — which turned into a 3 hour dinner(not by choice). For the most part, almost everyone in our 6 person party ordered mussels as their entrée. I have cooked mussels at home before and I know they are usually done in less than 10 minutes. So I am really not sure why we were waiting just under 3 hours from start to finish. Sure there were cocktails and appetizers in between then but I didn’t think I would be getting home after 10pm on a Monday when the restaurant was relatively quiet. That was not the only instance in which the service was abysmal, it seems like its almost a guarantee if you choose to dine in the dining room. I have sworn to myself I will only dine in the bar area from then-on, which has worked out well for me. I keep coming back because I do enjoy the food and drinks, but if there isn’t seating in the bar area I will either wait 20 minutes for something to open up or just leave.
