Aviation Classics has maintained my Cherokee 180 since it was brought here from Maryland in 2007 and my Saratoga since I bought it early in 2015. Their labor billing rates are just about exactly $ 10 less than almost anywhere in California. They seem to be able to do everything: airframe, sheet metal, jet engines to turboprops to piston singles. What I really appreciate is Lynn Jenkins’ very deep knowledge of avionics. He provides Garmin equipment at a discount to full retail. He upgraded my Cherokee 180 to ADS-B last year, including a UAT and a Mode-S-ES transponder at less than I expected. I just gave him a work order to do the same for the Saratoga this winter. And, if you are undecided about what to upgrade, what to throw overboard(thinking of getting rid of that 1980s vintage DME receiver?), he gives very solid advice based on manufacturers’ forecast product plans, for example. Where the average person might get uncomfortable, and the reason I didn’t give them five stars, is that they rarely, if ever, write down anything pertaining to work orders or quotes. If they give you a quote for a new piece of avionics, for example, it will be either purely verbal or scratched out on a Post-it note. Even so, they always meet all their verbal commitments, explicitly and exactly, and in a timely manner. ** UPDATE ** Aviation Classics provided a written quote in response to my work order for the ADS-B upgrade that they just started today. Based on that, I have raised my evaluation to five stars.

This is the worst FBO in Northern Nevada. Run and do not trust your plane in these incapable hands as you will not get it back for months and be over charged and worst your plane won’t be fixed properly! It’s a shame the air races operate here as there is no other aviation repair shop on the Stead airport then these guys.

I have used Aviation Classics for the past year to service my Cessna. They are thorough and their workmanship is very good. They are a little on the pricey side, but that is reflected in the quality of work they do. They also provide fueling trucks and rental cars if needed. There is a small pilot lounge near the self-service pumps.
