What’s not to love about a old oil change shop(I think?) converted to an intimate, chic, local, foodie-friendly restaurant in S. Reno? My wife and I have frequented B7 on many occasions over the years and have seen it go from good, to not so good(almost desolate at times), back to hoppin’ great! The wine, the service, the atmosphere, the bar… just feels like a little gem in a sea of suburban meh. I hope they keep it up!

The fish tacos are amazing. Another favorite is the steak and fries. The fried green beans are delicious, as well.

I hate having to write this review. I wanted it to be 5 stars, but unfortunately, the experience just didn’t merit it. First of all, it was MY suggestion that we come here for a co-worker’s birthday lunch. I’ve been here for dinner and happy hours, and I remember those times being good, even great. If anything, the only thing that really bothered me about this place was their funky silverware. I personally find them hard to use for some reason. Anyway, back to lunch… there were 7 of us. We had reservation, so we got seated right away. In fact, I believe we were the first ones there. For whatever reason, it took a few minutes for the server to greet us and take our drink orders and what have yous. Not usually a big deal, but when you’re out on a lunch break, you kinda have to pay attention on time, so we took note of this right off the bat. We scanned the menu and truth be told, it’s pricey for lunch. As in $ 20 for kale salad with grilled chicken. Fortunately, a business partner offered to pay for lunch, so we went for it. Mind you, had I been paying for my lunch, I definitely will NOT pay $ 20 for a salad. The rest of the group ordered the market salad, the beet salad, the grilled fish tacos and a couple of pizzas. I asked everyone how they liked their food, and we have a unanimous consensus: it was just ok. Considering the price point, we expected it to be nothing short of great. In our collective opinion, the food was not worth the price they charge for. Especially taste-wise. My kale salad was bland. Could definitely use more seasoning, or at least more lemon. Everyone else thought the same. The food needed more more flavor. Just because it’s a salad does not mean it can’t have a kick-ass dressing! Service was also slow. It appears there’s only one waitress, so we didn’t really get our food until 40 minutes into it. Not good if you only have an hour lunch break. Also, my co-worker mentioned that the tap water in the ladies room was freezing cold. So, overall, it was just ok. It wasn’t horrible, but we are definitely not too keen on coming back anytime soon. The only positive thing everyone agreed on was that it’s a nice, swanky-looking space, and the ambiance is great. Also, that they’ve had better experiences there in the past. What changed?

Service-3 stars Food-3 Ambiance-4 We decided to try out their happy hour after checking out some other reviews. It was hit and miss on this visit. To Note: Happy Hour is only available in the bar area. The happy hour menu provided only had food and wine listed, no beer. Where we were sitting we couldn’t see the taps so we asked the server, she didn’t know all the beers on tap, she should have provided a beer menu but didn’t at the time. We started with a plate of the Pulled Pork Nachos, these came out fresh and were tasty. After this was served I was ready for another beer and asked if they had any dark beers, she brought a menu over with their beer selections this time, thankfully. I ordered another beer and we also put in another food order, decided on some Salmon fish tacos and the White Truffle Shells and Cheese. The shells and cheese came out piping hot, the fish tacos were barely lukewarm. Service overall was on the slow side and with the barely warm tacos, I’d have to say they should have been brought out when they were finished cooking but weren’t. It seems as if she waited until the shells and cheese were done to bring them both out. They’re appetizers, they can be served as they’re ready without waiting for other plates like what would be done when serving an actual dinner meal. This place has a nice feel to it, I’m disappointed it won’t be a place I look forward to visiting again.

I want to start off with an apology to this business and to the Chef. I have let my nearly 4 year old review sit on Bistro 7 for way way too long. But now, I can rectify it. Our last meal there was superb. At first I was a little hesitant because of the sticker shock prices for our staple meal of the weekend. But by the end of the meal I think I understood what they are doing. This is a quality high end brunch meal made with the best ingredients available and wow… so wonderfully prepared. My daughter got the seasonal fruit plate. This alone was a surprise because I would go back for this anytime. Great fruit and great yogurt. Still thinking about it a few weeks later. I ordered up the omelet and it was just wonderful. Sadly I hear they aren’t doing brunch right now. But never the less. The other times we have been in and had some meals in the bar, the food has been great. The service from the staff has always been friendly and efficient. This is a great locals restaurant with higher end food and friendly welcoming atmosphere. What a difference a few years can make. I look forward to my next Bistro 7 outing.

If you’ve been to one Happy Hour in Reno, you’ve been to them all right? It seems like so many places offer basically the same menu, with maybe a few changes or their own«flair» but it’s all pretty typical bar food with a few exceptions. You’ve got your Nachos, fried Chicken Tenders, tacos, french fries, maybe some onion rings etc. etc. etc. Bistro 7 is refreshingly different. They offer lots of great dishes that you don’t see most other places at Happy Hour and do so at reasonable prices. Do you have a friend who is vegan, or follows paleo or isn’t any of those and just wants something fried and/or saucy. You can actually all meet at the same place together and order right from the same Happy hour menu at Bistro 7. With menu items ranging from dishes such as Ahi Sliders and Bison Sliders to Brie Potstickers to Toasted Rosemary Cashews, Spicy Deviled Eggs, crispy fried green beans or pulled pork nachos, Bistro 7 has your whole crowd covered. I was invited here by a friend to meet a group for happy hour. I arrived early and ordered the Brie potstickers and a glass of Pinot Noir while I waited and finished some work on my tablet. YUM! they were so delicious. I do wish the Brie Potstickers were just a tad warmer but they were so delicious… I would have eaten them stone cold. When the rest of the party arrived, we ordered an assortment of Happy hour menu items to pass around and share. The Ahi Sliders were good, not out of site good but really good, but the star for me was the Surf & Turf Tempura Roll. A sushi-like roll with lobster, filet mignon, rolled with avocado, onions and cream cheese with a teriyaki like glaze on top. This was the best thing on the menu for me. I would have ordered more to go around if I wasn’t already full from trying other things. Menu items range from about $ 5 – 10 for Happy Hour. My wine was about $ 8 a glass. Happy hour is from 3:00 to 6:30 and they will let you order from the dinner menu in the bar.

This restaurant is awesome! I went for my fiancé’s Christmas party and they were more than accommodating. They have an awesome room in the back that was perfect for the party and the roast beef was delicious! Thank you again!

I stopped in for lunch the other day. I had a Market salad with candied pecans and a bleu cheese crumbled on top. I also had the tomato and brie soup(more of a bisque in my opinion, thick and luxurious). Both were delicious. The ambience of the place is upscale. It would be a good place to bring a date or for a business meeting. They have a full bar. Their prices reflect their environs and the quality of the food. You’re not getting out of here cheap, but you will leave satisfied with quality food and service.

I have been in a couple of times the last month. More for the great happy hour menu than the fine dinning. Last year we had a wonderful prix fixe dinner and wine pairing with friends. The dining room décor is to me ultra modern. I love the sleek look of metal, wood and crystals used with the dark colors. The food choices are fantastic, the chef has been here for several years now and keeps producing great meals. I wouldn’t hesitate to have a romantic dinner or celebrate a special occasion here. The bar area on the right side is equally fabulous. Great bartenders– Will is my fav. They have a wide selection of wines to choose from during happy hour. And a decent food menu with quite the variety. They have the most perfect house made thick, thunder crunchy potato chips that are drizzled with a blue cheese fondue and reduced balsamic– my go to every time I walk in. Also bison sliders and a killer Mac n cheese for just a couple of ideas. Everything goes so well with a glass of wine or cocktail here. Give them a try, you won’t regret it

My husband and I decided to go here last night. We’ve been here before but not for a long time. It was a little disappointing. The atmosphere is very nice, kind of dark and quiet, and overall just what we were looking for for a date night. However the food was subpar. Overpriced for an overall meteochor meal. –brie potstickers were delicious but not 5 pieces for $ 10 delicious. –kale salad was only ok. It was literally just kale tossed in lemon juice with mushrooms. I think there was supposed to be cheese on it too but it came without it. The little piece was bread was totally burned, actually black on one side. $ 12. — 4 cheese pizza was very good. $ 14 — my husband ordered 2 Manhattan cocktails. 1st one was watered down, the second was good. $ 8/each. — I ordered a «peach bourbon» which was on their specialty cocktail list. It was described as bourbon and peach liquor over an Arnold Palmer. It was served in a regular drinking glass with a soda straw and tasted like an Arnold Palmer. $ 9. — I had peaches and cream for dessert. The«cinnamon shortbread» was so dry and there was literally 1 slice of peach on the plate. It was 90% whipped cream. $ 9. — My husband had crème brule and he said it was amazing. $ 9 The most off-putting thing of the night didn’t actually happen to us. The couple sitting in the booth next to us were asked to move by their server. She came over to their table and said they were seated at their«special table» and they had a «vip customer» coming in so they needed to be moved. Anyway, I thought that was rude. Pros: — quiet and pretty atmosphere — not very crowded, easy to get a table — our waiter was friendly and didn’t bother us Cons: — Overpriced for meteochor food — Overpriced cocktails that are not that great Next time we want to spend $ 100+ on dinner we will probably go to Campo or La Vecchia.

Very awesome happy hour! My husband and I met up with fellow helpers Donna S and Angie B! This is a regular spot for them, but a first for both the hubby and me. I ordered a glass of Pinot and it was delicious! Once everyone had a merited I ordered the fish tacos. Matt ordered the Mac and cheese with bacon, Donna had sliders, and they Angie ordered the ahi. Everyone’s food looked amazing! I tried Matt’s Mac and cheese, and it was one of the best I’ve ever had! My tacos were amazing, and filling for being s smaller plate. The service was on top of it! You do not go without here for sure! I want to try other things on their happy hour menu, so I will for sure be back!

I recently discovered Bistro 7 through a friend… amazing its been here for so many years. I love the chic, modern décor and yet, super relaxed and friendly bar. The manager, Casey, is a delight to interact with and he certainly knows how to make a killer cocktail! Last but not least, the abundance of delicious items on the gluten free menu just made this place one of my new favorite spots. Yum!

Bistro 7, truly an example of when once was not enough. Last month I met my girlfriends, «the Gal Pals» here for drinks and dinner. We’ve been friends for a long time, so we spend more time catching up than really appreciating the subtleties of the dining experience. That said, I did notice the trendy atmosphere and that the food did not disappoint, so I felt another visit was warranted. Tonight, dinner out with my husband and two friends, and all were willing to share their opinions, and a bite or two. The ambiance of Bistro 7 is very nice. The lighting is just right, the décor is modern but not pretentious, the service is friendly, prompt but not rushed and overall, just very comfortable. We began at a table in the bar area, and ordered two appetizers-brie potstickers and chips with blue cheese. I mean, how can you go wrong with those combos… well, I guess you can, but they didn’t– excellent! Two of us ordered the plank salmon, very good and we’ll prepared, my husband had the Lemon Grass Braised short ribs, also delicious but everyone agreed that their favorite taste of the evening was the Miso Crusted Chilean Sea Bass. After two hours we ended our evening completely sated. I have nothing negative to say, at all. A perfect evening… we will definitely return.

Bistro 7 is calm, comfortable, and classy. I highly recommend the plank salmon. Even kale is delicious with the butter sauce. The chicken piccata is made to order. No capers? No problem! I also enjoy a good prosecco. It would be fabulous for a date night. I prefer a comfortable and classy lunch.

I had been here a few times over the years for various different events. It was nothing to write home about. Same ol same ol. The wine was average. The food was good, but not great. I remembered it to be pricy for the value and quality. And, It was kind of out of the way for me to get there… To be honest. So when a girlfriend called and suggested we meet there, I was Not Jumping for joy… To say the least. The parking is always a snap and it’s easy to get in and out of. WHAT. Turn around from one time to the next! Wow! I arrived about 530ish on a Thursday night, in time for happy hour… That made me feel a little better about the price issue. My friend was sitting a the bar waiting for me. Instead of grabbing a pub table in the bar we decided to stay at the bar and order some sips and apps. I love doing that! Anyway, it seemed like my friend was enjoying herself so I didn’t mind. I was looking at the wine list thinking to myself… «I really don’t want anything boring tonight… I just can’t stand to drink a bland boring wine tonight.» The bartender must have known I was perplexed, because he says… «Looking for anything particular? » I explained to him what I was looking for and before I could finish… I’m a talker… Lol, He had poured a very lovely looking taste of red wine and set it gently in front of me. Asking me to «try this». I loved it! It was exactly what I was looking for… Thank goodness! «2013 — the possessor by tooth and nail from Paso Robles». I’m from that area originally… So I was impressed and excited to be having something from my home town. Needless to say I thanked him and asked for a full glass :) So far so good :) Anyway, We decide to order some food to go with my lovely wine. The bartender recommended the filet and shrimp sushi roll thing — TODIEFOR, I kid you not! And a pulled pork wonton nacho thing… Also knock your socks off good! We chose the calamari fries, not my favorite. The breading was to soft… I needed more of a crunch to eat that… But my girlfriend LOVED them… So it worked out perfect… All on the happy hour menu! Yaaaa! Baby! We ate every single piece of food on our plates and complimented the chef! Because of this experience I give them 4 stars. I hope the next time I go in, and I will, it’s the same if not better. I’m Crossing my fingers for 5 stars next time. Great job with changing my mind guys! I will be back :)

We finally got to eat here! I’ve tried several times but it always seems to be on a weekend. It was a Friday around 1pm and we were the only people in the place. I was really impressed by the incredible wine selection right off the bat. We opted to sit in the bar and it’s beautiful. Ok, so on to some chow… we started with the calamari which is served in strips. The calamari was delicious but the breading almost completely fell off. Still forgivable with how good both the breading and the calamari was. On to my Mac and Cheese, which I ordered with the jalapeños. Oh my gawd, it was so creamy and delicious! And will wonders never cease, it was served with out bacon! YAYAYAY! This M&C was so good when I was driving home from Sacramento on Monday it was all I could think about. A friend had the grilled fish tacos and really enjoyed them. I’ll let the hubby review his food himself :) I will warn you, they are proud of that amazing wine selection, as two glasses of a red blend set me back $ 26, but I didn’t mind. Final word, you should eat here!

What a wonderful date night! Hubby and I had the chance to steal away for a date night tonight and this was the perfect place to do it! First of all I loved the décor! Very chic, intimate and romantic. It was definitely a great way to spend an evening connecting and to kick off the weekend. We started off with drinks and this was probably the best summer drink I’ve ever had! It was called a Cucumber Lemonade and was served with fresh rosemary… delish! How did I not know about putting fresh rosemary in a drink? What a refreshing drink after a hot day! Hubby had the Melonade and he loved it(I do not like sweet drinks but of you have a sweet tooth… this was perfect!) We started off with the tomato and Brie soup… loved it! Great consistency to the soup with just the right amount of Brie. For the entrée I had the Pesto Chicken with sun-dried tomatoes. This dish was so good I will definitely order it again. The only minor thing I can say is that it was a tad overdone but even with that it was a great dinner. Hubby won the entrée war with pan seared scallops and grilled peaches! The peaches were perfectly grilled and fell apart on your mouth and the scallops prepared to perfection! Our entrees took a little while BUT it was wonderful to have such a romantic and fantabulous dinner! Definitely recommend for a night out.

Woodfired ovens are amazing things. Not only can they reach incredibly high temps and achieve amazing char, but the wood smoke infuses a flavor that is hard to create any other way. There are only a few of them in Reno, and I’ll give a prize to anyone that can name where they’re at. I’ll give you the first one, Bistro 7, and Chef Michael Woodall uses it to make all sorts of delicious food. It’s a focal point in the restaurant, as it should be, and one of the first things you’ll notice as you make your way into this incredibly beautiful dining room. I might go so far as to say this is one of the nicest restaurant interiors in our city, very modern, open and elegant. The patio, which which is visible from the main room through large glass doors and windows, really opens the space up and brings the outdoors inside. On a nice summer night, this is a great space to dine. I love coming here for happy hour in their bar area. There’s a great menu of appetizers and small plates, a good selection of beers on tap(including Lagunitas), high top tables and chairs, and strong service. I personally like a cold pint with the rosemary cashews, the calamari frites, and the deviled eggs. But the menu also includes a surf and turf maki roll, sliders, pulled pork nachos served on fried wontons and more. For a group large or small, this is a great spot. In the main dining room, the menu is expansive, with lots salads, handmade elements and deliciousness that comes from the woodfired oven. They also do a lot of seasonal changes, so make sure and ask what’s good! I know a friend of mine that is in love with the miso seabass. This is the kind of love that she’d probably leave her husband for if she could live with this dish daily. If you’re not seeing what you like, I bet you can ask Chef Michael to make you something special. He’s that kind of guy and it’s that kind of restaurant. Dave, his wife, and Michael all aim to please the guest, so if something seems off, let them know. They appreciate the feedback and want you to enjoy your experience every time you come to B7. I can’t get enough of their happy hour, so I’m sure I’ll run into you there soon!
