Chi Kwan Tae Kwon Do

So, after around a 10 year hiatus, I decide to get back into Tae Kwon Do. Besides flamenco (which is not offered anywhere in Reno…), this was the one thing I wished I would have stuck with when I was younger.
When my fiancé and I went out to dinner with his friend from college and his wife (Grandmaster Chi’s daughter), she said, «Let’s go to the studio and watch a class!» Little did I know that we would soon be apart of it!
The Reno times are from 5:30 to 7:30pm Wednesdays and Fridays, and class in the Carson City location from 6:30 to 8:30pm Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.
Yes, I’m surrounded by kids at least 10 years younger than me, and it was a little intimidating that I almost passed out (note to self: start working out more…) halfway through the class (oh and second note: drink. WATER), but Grandmaster Chi is an incredible teacher, and the classes are always focused on control and technique, not flailing around the mat trying to score a point while sparring. They also teach you two different styles; one of them is the WTF (World Tae Kwon Do Federation), and International Tae Kwon Do Federation (ITF). This enables you to be qualified for more tournaments (and work out different muscle groups, making you stronger and well-​rounded), including the National Championships next year in San Jose. A few of his students just got back from the Junior Olympics in Florida, as well — hey, there is your proof right there.
I’ll openly admit that this is not going to be inexpensive; but not only are you going to be supporting a local business that *deserves* to be supported, you’ll know that with each class you’ll get better, and feel better, and act better, and stay better. It’s well worth it, and that’s a lot coming from a poor college student.

Outstanding martial arts school. My children started at the age of 3 and now my son is getting his black belt at 8 years of age. This school is run by Grandmaster Chi. He is an international referee, 8^th Dan black belt from Kukkiwon.
His patience with kids is legendary and he is also a strict disciplinarian. We love this school. Com be a part of the Chi Kwan Family.
