I always love the roasted duck. They have the best sauce and it’s so cheap. The only thing that I keep coming here for is the squid with spicy pepper salt the best in town.

I honestly fell in love with this place because of the plain fact that they have roasted duck! Their duck is awesome and their other noodle dishes are authentic. I think this is possibly the best Chinese food spot in Reno in my opinion. They have really great inexpensive lunch and dinner specials that fill you up. Definitely worth a try for anyone looking for some good Chinese food anytime.

Great and inexpensive. Eat here with my Honey once a week. Can’t go wrong with the chow mein and Mongolian beef!!! Love the soup too.

Been coming here for ages. The BEST potstickers in town. Limited dim sum but hey it’s Reno. Wish they would bring back the steamed look fun rolls. I come here for their soups especially the roast duck won ton noodle soup and the seafood dumpling noodle soup(highly recommended). The won tons and dumpling are by far the plumpest and moistest in town. I usually ask for the soup to be «fog the eyeglasses» steaming hot and they’ve been accommodating all these years.

Today I bought $ 15 worth of food for myself for dinner. Szechuan chicken that came w/1 fried shrimp. 1 egg roll. &1 crab rangoon(that wasn’t that good). & order of appetizers that was crab rangoon. When my order came up I asked the(Bow Legged) lady how many packets of sweet and sour did I get? She pulled out one. I asked could I have more please? Being that it was so much food for dipping. She said«I just want U to know this special sauce». Me. Um Hum. She put four more packets in to my bag. & said thank you sir. That was like a smack in the face. & telling me that my hard earned $ is not good enough for their special sauce & my business. It’s not home S.F. So I’m not missing anything special. I won’t be back. They can keep that nasty tasting food. And be prepared to be stared @ by the whole staff while eating. Again(that bowlegged lady is one of the rudest people). I try to spend locally. But I swear I will never step foot in that place again. Did I mention the food was nasty.

This is the best Chinese food in Reno. It’s not Bay Area fair but, it’s the best you’ll get in Reno. Believe me. I’ve tried every Chinese restaurant in town. First off ask for the dim sum menu. Order a couple of the items. Then settle in for some good chow fun dry style. I always ask for chow fun without bean sprouts. The potstickers are done fresh. Unlike some restaurants that microwave them(Palais de Jade). This is not a place for ambience. It’s a hole in the wall type. The kitchen is in plain sight and occasionally they will be rolling won tons in the dining room.

I’ve heard of this Chinese Duck House from friends in Reno and in Carson City, where I like Yang’s Kitchen. Yang worked at the Duck House for years, and when he open his place in Carson, he used the same menu, so I knew I’d like it here. Yep, going in my friend and I are seated and yes, the menu looks almost exactly alike. The place does look like a dump and is a bit scary, like, do they serve real food here? but all is fine and the food is great. The outside is worse than the inside. Inside looks fine. Located right across from the Peppermill Casino, I can see them getting business from people that are tired of eating casino food, especially those Asian tourists from the Bay Area. There is parking on the property. but it’s a bit tight, so don’t come in here with a crew cab dually and expect to park in the tight lot. Use the street. My friend sees the lunch specials for around $ 6.50, which include your choice of soup(egg drop, or hot and sour), an egg roll, fried won ton thingy and fried rice or chow mein with your entrée. That’s a ton of food for the price. She picked Curry Chicken with steamed rice. I had down in Carson City, beef fried rice with cilantro and jalapenos added. That’s not on the menu, but I though I’d try to order that here. Yes, no problem, they can do that! It’s great the kitchen will grant special requests within reason, so just ask! My friend gets her appetizer of a egg roll and fried thingy along with her egg drop soup first while I wait. The rest of the food comes out fast. Her plate has a nice portion of a fragrant curry sitting besides a mound of steamed rice. My fried rice order arrives and yes, I can just smell those wok fired jalapenos and cilantro together. It’s quite a large mound. There is a generous amount of beef in the rice as well as eggs, peas and carrots. My first taste … ahhh yes, this is what I wanted, the great charred taste of the wok searing and the spice of the jalapenos and fragrance of the cilantro all mixed in a heavenly texture of the rice, all wok toss just right. Damn, this is some good(stuff) …OK yeah good shit! My dining partner was enjoying her Curry Chicken just fine although, she didn’t quite finish that large amount of food. I’ve had that dish before in Carson and it looks just the same and as tasty here as well. This was a good experience to know that I can get great fast-ish style Chinese food in this part of town. NO, there’s not much in the way of super exotic super authentic stuff here, just good food that most people are used to. If you want something not on the menu, just ask. Yes, they have roast duck here, hence the name!

We’d been talking about Chinese food at work so by the time I went home, I had a fierce craving. I hate to say it but I wanted it quick and dirty. You know the type– salty, predictable, inexpensive, mostly fried, nothing fancy. NAILEDIT. Cheese wontons and potstickers for appetizers– very good. The four of us fought over them. I had a cup of hot and sour soup since I could feel a head cold coming on. About halfway through it, my sinuses were clear again and I could breathe. We shared house chow mein, mu shu pork, and orange chicken. All were exactly what I expected and desired. Nothing really stood out as amazing or different but it was just generally good. Nice amount of meat in the chow mein though, I will say that. And the portions were very large– we took home leftovers that I was really looking forward to enjoying… but the kids got to them first. It was very busy but the service was friendly and efficient. We were never left with empty water glasses and they were quick to remove dirty dishes. The restaurant itself is tiny, definitely nothing fancy and a bit dive-y. All fine, except that it was about 80 degrees in there. I thought I’d melt! Also, the tables are tiny and we had to really shuffle stuff around to fit all our food on there.

4.5 stars. Ive been eating duck house for 2 years and theyve never messed up my order and the food is either always good or perfect. The only reason im not giving them 5 is bcuz im not a fan of their lemon chicken, i like mine really crunchy not soft. *Moving on ill just talk about the most recent visit which was weds night 3.11.15 me n my love got the dinner special. Him: general chicken with fried rice. Me: S&S chicken with half chowmein/rice. Both meals came with an eggroll, cream cheese wonton, fortune cookie, shrimp and a soup which was hot S&S. There is another soup option but i forgot what it is. We also ordered the teriyaki chicken on a skewer. All of the food was cooked perfect that night and plenty for lunch the next day for under $ 26. *I hope the pic does them justice, the food is so good! Forget to mention we always order takeout n its ready within 10 mins.

Was referred to by a friend and was not at all disappointed. I live in Tahoe City and was in town watching a movie. Came here after the movie to order to go. The lady at the register helped us through the menu and suggested something to order based on what we describe. It took 10 minutes to prepare. We sat and I could watch the chefs preparing our meal!!! We brought it home and were blown away! The food was still hot and it was absolutely delicious. They gave us little to go hot chili sauces. It blows sriracha out of the water! Thank you Chinese Duck House for a delicious meal and a great first-time experience. We will be coming back.

Got a chance to check out the Chinese Duck House recently, and unfortunately wasn’t very impressed. I was in the mood for some non-casino Chinese cuisine for a change, so I gave it a try. With the exterior of the building being a bit overgrown with bushes and shrubbery, along with a vacant parking lot, I had to check a few times to make sure it wasn’t closed down. I usually don’t notice things like this, but they really stood out. This, along with the funky, off-color green curtains that lined the windows and a black and neon orange sign on the door saying«OPEN» kinda made me wonder what I was getting into. The whole place seemed to have a sinister, funeral parlor feel to it. I ordered a standard combination platter — something that’s usually surefire anytime I’m testing the waters out at a new Chinese restaurant. I went with the broccoli beef, Kung Pao chicken, white rice, and a side order of three egg rolls. The entrees were barely passable — lukewarm at the most, shriveled up meats, crunchy rice, and I’m not sure if I got involved with a bad batch of frying oil or something, but the egg rolls were the greasiest things I’ve ever encountered anywhere. I literally bit into one and got shot in the eye with a spurt of oil! My German Shepherd even turned it all away, which is something that doesn’t happen too often, so it all went in the trash. There’s a ton of Chinese restaurants I still have to check out in the Reno area, but I can’t recommend this place. I didn’t even bother taking any food pictures!

September 7, 2013 Saturday — dinner 6:00PM 2 adults Atmosphere — 4 star Food — 4 stars Service — 4 stars Background — The wife did not know what she wanted for dinner, and she loves Chinese food. I wanted to try some where new. Atmosphere — A dive, they can work on hiding the bus boys stations and the drink stations. But love the open kitchen, the cook in woks and interesting to watch him use it and toss the food like it was no big deal. Food Drinks — Hot tea, you can see that they brew it like coffee here. They serve the tea in coffee mugs too, no tiny cups for you. Appetizer — Add a medley of appetizers as we went with Meal Plan B. They use Asian Five Spice and for me the cinnamon really popped with the hint of ginger on the egg roll My Main Course — I had a scramble for breakfast, and I commented to my wife that the fried rice was like a scramble as it had so much egg and veggies in it. We had the Mongolian beef which again had the Asian five spice, it did not work for me but the wife loved it, one of the spices came through too strong for me. I love the sweet and sour chicken. It crunchy and the sauce was really good. Dessert — I do not remember even seeing on the menu, but I was stuffed. Service — It was good until the end when it took a while to get the to go containers and the bill. Future — Sure.
