Really disappointed to speed here in order to get vegan donuts to celebrate my last day in my career after having called to verify their hours of operation. I made it with minutes to spare only to find out that they decided to lock up early. I’m standing there at the door. Completely upset. I see the girls through the window at the counter and nothing. I call because it still wasn’t even closing time and they don’t answer. So bummed. Now to go «celebrate» empty handed. Because I’m not a vegan by preference. I’m allergic to eggs and gluten. I have no other options.

Have been here only once as I was dropping off some items to the goodwill next door. I had an ok experience. I selected to get the avocado peperjack melt($ 8.95, includes a side), and when asked to add meat, I said sure, well this brought the price to $ 12. while the sandwich was good(and the Parmesan foccaia bread really good), I am not sure that I would order it again because of the price. The service was slow, and somewhat unorganized. one poor guy waited 10 minutes for his cinnamon roll(that only needed to be pulled out of the display case).

If I could give zero stars, I would. I purchased two loaves of sourdough bread. They were absolutely the worst bakery items that I have ever tasted. Zero flavor with the consistency of paste. If the Donner Party had this bread with them it would explain the cannibalism.

Came in for a whole unsliced loaf of bread … Gluten or otherwise… Had a cinnamon role heated that was lovely and not over gunked up with too much icing. Products are exceptionally beautiful and one look at the lunch menu tells me I’ll be back! Pizza, lasagna, enchiladas, sandwiches like roasted turkey with Brie and avocado pesto … I’m drooling. Give this place a try. Lovely people too!

The food has always been great but the service and open hours have gotten much better with the new owners. Love this place!

If you need the Gluten free then this place is totally great. If you don’t need the gluten free then it’s OK. The customer service is pleasant but not fast by any means. Even ordering a bowl of soup to go takes about 7 – 10 minutes with no one in front of me. They tend to finish what they are working on before greeting new customers. I find this practice a little annoying as I would like to be acknowledged even if I have to wait after that. Ok onto the food-I have tried the veggie sandwich and the tomatoe bisque. The tomato bisque was phenomenal, the veggie sandwich was standard. The focaccia bread was also tasty but more so when dipped in the soup and not used as sandwich bread. I have yet to try the desserts, which look AMAZING in the case, so I know I will be back for that and probably the soup. $ 5 minimum for cards

My husband and I recently visited when we were in the area. Still very happy we can get GF baked goods… but they were so dry!

Gluten-free that gets it right. Even my kids who *can* eat gluten(and turn their noses up at gluten-free items I get elsewhere) clamor for Haven on Earth’s sweet treats! Can’t go wrong with the LEMON donuts — my F-F-F-Favorite! Super-moist and full of flavor! Other favs: — chocolate-chocolate donuts — cinamon rolls — pineapple upside down cake(a big YUM!) — lemon cake — chocolate mini-bunts w/non-dairy cream filling — pumpkin pie(preorder for the holidays) — chocolate & almond covered biscotti — so light can’t believe it’s gluten-free! Recently started getting their breads. The Peasant Bread is my favorite so far. Love the new ownership! Staff is friendly and accommodating, and always recognize me as a repeat customer.(Not surprised the old owners sold — they just seemed tired and done.) I love so much about the stuff these folks make«perfectly», that I’m very forgiving about the stuff that’s less than perfect … it’s all about finding what you like best, no? They are always experimenting with new ideas. Some are hits — others, not so much. The new protein donuts are a nice idea, but the protein powder makes them dry and heavy. Didn’t care for a recent attempt at english muffins — but, hey — they do get points for trying. I also avoid the donuts made with white cake(not as moist as the chocolate), and the flavor of the strawberry donuts lacks the power of its lemon counterpart, and leaves a bit of an unpleasant after-taste. TIP: Check out the bottom shelve of the freezer for 50% off day-old items. Downside: unfortunately this place sits mid-route between my house and my gym … sigh … so much for the calories burned at Spin class … ;-)

Store closes at 5 p.m. Guess I won’t be having fresh baked bread for dinner, or baked goods for breakfast :-(

I still come here to purchase products for my son but it has definitely changed since when I first reviewed this establishment. The GF products are still pretty good but the service is hit and miss now. When I first started coming here you could tell the owners were very passionate about this store and their product. Now I will get friendly service followed by mediocre service. Also the bread seems to be very«fragile» now compared to when I first started buying it. It is still delicious but now it seems lumpy and more holes in the middle. Plus it falls apart VERY easily.

Went in to grab a delicious sandwich but the deli was closed. I was disappointed after all it was only 2oclock. I’ve heard great things about this place and I was looking forward to trying it. Maybe next time

I’m pretty put out by this place. Over the years, it was a convenient, gluten-free stop, but never felt the food was really any good. Just something I could have when I was in South Reno. After I ordered today, I was asked to sign an anti-abortion petition by the person working there. How inappropriate. I will not go back. The food is definitely not worth it.

I am so happy this bakery is near my house. I love this place. Staff is friendly and 9⁄10 times they have what I am looking for(and I always leave with more than I planned). Sure they get busy but this is the only real GF bakery in town. I wouldn’t by the break(UDI’s is so much better) but everything else I would have no problem purchasing… Thank goodness this bakery is here!

This review is for the sandwich/restaurant portion of the business which I visited last week at lunchtime: I ordered the vegetarian sandwich and was VERYDISAPPOINTED. The entire, extremely small sandwich consisted of two paper-thin slices of tomato, one leaf of lettuce, one thin slice of cheese and a few brown, almost molding looking avocado slices on dry bread. The hummus was non-existent and perhaps I was supposed to order the hummus as a side dish? I am not being facetious about the lack of ingredients — that is truly all there was in the sandwich. There was also two bites of potato salad — the portion was about half a golf ball. I couldn’t choke down the dry bread, so I ate my one piece of lettuce and cheese and left extremely hungry after my $ 7.99 meal. The restaurant was almost empty(a total of four customers) and the service was s-l-o-w and not friendly. I understand there are those who need or choose a gluten free lifestyle, but this place is insulting to the wonderful gluten free restaurants in the Bay area. Just because it’s one of the only gluten-free menu options in Reno, does not mean that the food is good. I would never recommend this restaurant but I might be back to try a dessert. Unlike my dry, miniature, bread-only sandwich, at least the desserts looked good. However, I didn’t waste any money giving the desserts a try…

I had heard about this place and was interested in trying it, I walked in hoping to buy some cookies or something sweet. I had waited 15 mins, and wasn’t even greeted or anything. I was the only person in there. The only reason I had waited so long was because I thought the owner(some older woman) was going to apologize. Before I could order her phone rang, and she left for another 5 minutes. I finally paid for my cookies which were more expensive than whole foods. also they tasted chalky, like they have been out for days. I wouldn’t recommend this place. The owner isn’t very respectful to customers.

Whether eating a Gluten Free diet makes you feel better, you’re celiac and need it, or you just like to follow trends, all of you have cravings for delicious baked goods, breads, cakes, and cookies. But without wheat, what are you to do? Head to Haven on Earth where more than 30 years of experience as a baker and cake decorator in high volume casino bakeries have taught the owner to kick out some killer cakes, beautiful breads, perfect pizza crusts and craveable cookies! It’s Reno’s only 100% Gluten Free Bakery, and they offer a wide range of products in all categories, with the list constantly growing as the team perfects each recipe. Basically if you don’t see what you’re looking for, ask, and if they don’t have it now, you can be sure they will soon. Believe it or not, for those not on a Gluten Free diet, this stuff actually tastes really good too! I might choose to stick with the high quality pastries, cakes and cookies vs. some of the breads though. The morning I went in, I had a breakfast sandwich and didn’t love it for two reasons. First the ham was a basic boiled ham from a package, and not a quality product. It really took away from the care they put into making the bread. The foccacia bread was actually the other disappointment for me, because it was crumbly. I think that was because it was GF, so if you’re used to eating these types of products that probably won’t bother you. All around, this is an awesome asset to our community. Considering there aren’t any other dedicated GF bakeries in town, this place rocks! I’m excited to try some of the other creations soon. I know something special from here will make my future wife pretty darn happy!

As a family we are all GF(judge away we feel better) and because of this place we can actually get a treat that would otherwise not be an option. We love the girls that work at the bakery! It is small and in a strip mall but anything that is locally owned and operated is worth the support. Maybe someday it can get into a cool historic building with extra seating and that would take it to the next level but for now we will happily and thankfully go!

I don’t know if it’s a Haven, per se. But it’s definitely a respite from all the death gluten that lurks in every other bakery in town. I wish I was one of those goofy fad-dieters who didn’t HAVE to be on a GF diet. Because it’d be swell if I didn’t have to sell a kidney to pay for a facking brownie or a loaf of bread. As it stands now, however(and okay forever) I’ll be forgoing soft, pillowy breads for semi-stale(feeling) rather tasteless(comparatively) bread(–like) products.(Which, if it’s been years since your last real wheat product, they actually don’t taste so bad). Haven on Earth has gone through some rough patches. Early on I found their products to be dry and cardboardy. It really was as if the cupcake had been left under a hairdryer for half a day. Or the brownie had been mixed in with a handful of playa dust. But my goodness, they’ve come a long way since. Admittedly, I’m surprised that they lasted but thrilled that they have. Their bread is delicious. And their baked goods are significantly better than they were.(If you warm them up in a microwave with a cup of water, they can re-moisten quite well). Realistically there’s no getting around that semi«stale» quality of gluten free baked goods. It’s just a different product entirely, and you kind of have to force yourself to think of it that way. Me? I just want a flipping’ sandwich every now and again, so it’s nice to have a few slices of bread instead of two wilting lettuce leafs to throw the fixins between. Bring your wallet(or your recently excised kidney!).

I have visited this place many times, and each time it is lousy. The food is okay, but the service is terrible, so it doesn’t make it worth it. First, they never wear gloves, even when handling the cash register and then touching loaves of bread. Second, I’m allergic to eggs, so when I ask them for egg-free bread, they have to go to the back freezer to get some. Each time, they tell me how I am inconveniencing them and that I should have called ahead. The worst part of this is that one time, I found a RUSTYTACK baked into my bread! I took it into them, and they just said sorry and gave me another loaf. Yes, they have good gluten-free bread. But if you want someone to explain things to you or talk to you about what you need, don’t count on it.

February 23, 2013 Saturday — lunch 1:00PM 2 adults Atmosphere — 4 stars Food — 4 stars Service — 5 stars Background — Where on the south side of town and wanted something that was not fast food. Atmosphere — Post lunch rush and no one was in there. So the dining area should have been clean. Some the tables were covered in crumbs. Food Appetizer — Nope. Main Course — I had the corn beef sandwich on the rosemary bread. The sandwich had a lot of flavor. I just wished the meat was twice as high. Dessert — none today. Service — They had a new cashier working today so he was being overseen, which was fine since I was not in a hurry. Future — Sure I would have never known the food was gluten free except for the signs.
